12 flag shapes — each works differently in wind and in still air
Shape determines how the flag behaves without wind, how much of the graphic is visible at distance, and what base is appropriate. The choice is functional, not just aesthetic.
Held permanently taut by a curved fibreglass pole — full graphic visible even with zero wind. The most versatile shape: functions indoors and outdoors. Best for retail entrances, hotel forecourts, and exhibition halls.
Horizontal arm at the top holds the flag open at 90 degrees from the pole. Distinctive silhouette against a building or skyline. Combines the tautness of the teardrop with a wider top display area.
Tall, narrow profile with pole running the full height. Maximum vertical presence with minimal width — ideal for lining a driveway, entrance pathway, or event perimeter where space between flags is limited.
Rigid crossbar at top, full-width rectangular graphic. Standard format for boardrooms, stage sets, press conferences, and government or corporate ceremonial use. Portrait layout displays detailed text and logos clearly.
Desk or table-top format flag on a small weighted base. Used for boardroom tables, reception desks, trade show counters, and hospitality settings. Available in standard A5 flag size or custom dimensions.
Classic triangular flag shape. Used for festive decoration strings, sports events, school and community events, and perimeter decoration. Can be supplied as individual pennants or on a continuous bunting string.
Distinctive wave-cut bottom edge creates movement and visual interest even in still air. A premium alternative to the rectangle flag for corporate entrances and brand activations where a standard shape is not desired.
Small hand-held flags on a wooden or plastic stick. Used for crowd events, national day celebrations, sports matches, and branded giveaways. Dye-sublimation on polyester or single-colour screen print on paper.

Flags mounted on wall bracket arms projecting from a building facade. Bracket-mounted at 45–90 degrees, creating a flag that is readable from the street without a ground pole. Used for retail, hotels, corporate buildings, and embassies.
Inkjet-printed flags fade. Dye-sublimation flags don't.
Flags are the only printed sign format that is in continuous movement and continuous direct sun exposure simultaneously. The fabric flexes thousands of times per day in wind, while the UAE sun delivers UV index 12–13 for eight months of the year. These two conditions together destroy inkjet-printed flags within weeks. Dye-sublimation is the correct print process for outdoor flags because the colour is chemically bonded into the polyester fibres — not sitting on the surface where UV and flex fatigue can lift or crack it.
All our flag printing uses dye-sublimation exclusively. We do not offer inkjet or screen-printed flags for outdoor use in the UAE climate.
Five base options — the right base depends entirely on the surface
The base is the most safety-critical component of the system. An unstable flag in UAE wind conditions is a hazard. We advise on the correct base for your surface and wind exposure at the order stage.

Common questions about flags
- Teardrop if the flag will be used indoors or in sheltered areas with little wind — it stays taut without any breeze. Feather if maximum visibility at distance is the priority and the site has consistent wind. Rectangle if the graphic has detailed text or a portrait layout that needs the full rectangular display area. If unsure, the teardrop is the most versatile shape.
- For continuous outdoor exposure in the UAE (direct sun, wind movement, shamal periods): 6–12 months before colour degradation begins to be visible. The fabric will typically outlast the colour — the seams and sleeve are the first stress points. We warrant colorfastness for a minimum of 6 months of continuous outdoor UAE exposure on all dye-sublimation flags.
- Preferred: PDF (press-ready) or AI (with fonts outlined). Also accepted: high-resolution JPG or PNG. Files should be in CMYK, not RGB — dye-sublimation on polyester shifts colours from RGB files, particularly reds and blues. Resolution: 72dpi at 1:1 actual flag size, or 150dpi at 1:5 scale. Include a 5cm bleed on all sides.
- Yes — all our flag systems are designed for graphic replacement. We keep your pole specifications on file and supply replacement graphics pre-sleeved and ready to swap onto your existing poles. The pole and base typically outlast two or three fabric replacement cycles.
- Ground spike, always. The cross base + water bag is not suitable for outdoor events in the UAE because the cross arms create a trip hazard on grass or sand, and the water bag does not provide sufficient anchoring in shamal wind conditions. For beach events, we recommend the 6m feather with ground spike as the standard configuration.
- 48 hours from artwork approval on standard sizes. For very large sizes or volume orders of 50+ flags, allow 3–4 days. For genuine same-day emergencies, contact us on WhatsApp before 10am and we will advise on what is achievable.
- Both. Collection from our Alam Square showroom in Ajman is available same-day for standard urgent orders. We also deliver UAE-wide and can install on site — installation is straightforward enough for one person to assemble each flag system in under 5 minutes, but for large deployments our team can install on site before the event.
