Project Information Boards in the UAE

Project signboards that stay accurate and upright

A project signboard is the large board at a construction site entrance that states what is being built and who is responsible: project name, plot number, building permit details, owner or developer, consultant and main contractor, often with a render of the finished building. It is read by municipality inspectors, neighbours, delivery drivers and, on off-plan projects, potential buyers driving past. We make them for towers, villa communities, infrastructure works and school and hospital extensions.

A good board has two jobs that pull against each other. It must be formal and accurate enough for an inspector, and it must still look sharp after two summers of sun, cement dust and shamal winds. The difference lies in the print and laminate, the panel skins, the spacing of the steel behind the face and the size of the legs and the base they stand on. Our designers split the artwork into fixed and changeable panels, and our frame shop builds the steel for the real face area and height.

Bayan Signage has fabricated signs at its own factory in Ajman since 2016 as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE for 15 years. Large-format printing, CNC panel cutting, steel welding and installation all happen in-house, so a revised permit number or a new contractor becomes a replacement panel within days, made by the team that built the board.

Our process

How we build project signboards in our Ajman factory

  1. Site visit and position

We agree the board position against the site logistics plan, away from future crane bases, gate swings and delivery routes, and check for buried services. The site visit is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Content and layout

Our designers lay out the project name, render, permit block and parties from the wording your consultant or authority provides, in Arabic and English, and issue one proof for written sign-off.

  3. Large-format print and laminate

Faces are printed on our UV and solvent printers, up to 3.2 m wide in one pass, then laminated so the render resists fading and the site team can wipe off cement splash.

  4. Panels and steel frame

ACP panels are CNC-cut so every joint lands on a frame member. The galvanised sub-frame and legs are welded in our frame shop to suit the face area, height and exposure of your plot.

  5. Erection and fixing

Our crew sets and braces the legs on the base agreed at survey with your project team or main contractor, then fixes the frame and panels, working from a boom lift on taller boards and checking level and alignment.

  6. Inspection and site file photos

Every board is checked against the approved proof before and after installation, and we photograph the finished board for your site file and the authority inspection.

Specification

Project signboard specification

This is our standard build for a freestanding board on a typical two to three year project. Where an authority, master developer or contract document sets the size, content or material, theirs takes priority.

Expert advice

Advice from our site board team

Most project signboard problems come from timing and position rather than print quality. These are the points we raise with site teams at the first meeting.

Wait for the permit numbers, or plan to change them

Boards printed with placeholder permit details are the most common reprint we see. If the board must go up before the numbers are final, ask for the permit block on its own panel. When the confirmed details arrive, we print one small panel and swap it in an hour, instead of reprinting a 6 x 3 m face and bringing a boom lift back to site.

Put it where the crane will not go

A board in the wrong corner may have to move once the tower crane base, batching area or second gate arrives, and moving a freestanding board and its base is close to building a new one. Agree the position against the logistics plan for the whole programme rather than the enabling works alone, and keep it clear of the swept path of the gate.

Size the text for a car at 30 m

A driver reads a site board from about 30 m while moving, so permit and party text needs a cap height of roughly 100 mm or more, and the project name usually wants 250 to 400 mm. Boards built around standard 2,440 x 1,220 mm sheets, such as 4.8 x 2.4 m or 6 x 3 m, waste less material and keep joints on frame members.

Proof the render at true size

A render that looks crisp on a laptop can turn soft when it is printed 6 m wide. Ask your architect for the highest-resolution file they have, and let us print a full-size strip of the busiest area before approval. Dark night renders also swallow small text, so keep the permit block on a light background beside the image rather than over it.

Raise the board and you raise the steel

Lifting the bottom edge from 1.5 m to 2.5 m to clear the hoarding greatly increases the bending in the legs and the load on the base. A board copied from a smaller site often leans after its first windy season for exactly this reason. Tell us the height you want, and we size the legs for that height and confirm the base requirement with your project team at the survey.

Pricing

Project signboard price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We price every board from its size, height and site, not from a list. Send us the board size or authority template, the content, a site plan and a photo of the position, and you will receive an itemised quotation, usually within 24 hours, separating print, panels, steel, fixings and installation.

Board size and height

Face area drives print and panel cost, but height drives the steel. A board raised high on a windy plot needs heavier legs and a larger base than the same face at low level.

Panel material

Standard 4 mm ACP is the economical default. Steel sheet, thicker skins or fire-rated cores where specified add material and weight, which also affects the frame.

Base and site conditions

Foundation requirements for a freestanding board are confirmed with your project team or main contractor at the survey stage. Hard ground, buried services or tight access all affect fixing and installation.

Artwork and approvals

Some clients send final artwork; others need us to lay out permit data, logos and renders and take them through the consultant before printing.

Illumination

Floodlights or a lit face need cabling, timers and a temporary supply point agreed with the site electrical team.

Access and timing

Work at a live gate may need a boom lift, a permit to work and coordination with deliveries, which can move installation to quieter hours.

Approvals

Project signboard requirements in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Most construction sites in the UAE are expected to display a board with the permit and the responsible parties, but the content, size and layout are set by the authority, the master developer or the contract. Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, free zones such as JAFZA and DMCC, and the Sharjah and Ajman municipalities can each have their own expectations, and master communities often add a template for every plot.

We work from the wording and template your consultant or the authority provides rather than guessing, and our draftsmen check the Arabic and English names against the permit and trade licences before printing. Larger freestanding boards may also need a structural check. Rules change and differ by location, so we confirm the current requirement for your site at the first visit.

Why Bayan Signage

Why contractors choose Bayan Signage for project signboards

Print, panels and steel in-house

Large-format printing, CNC panel cutting and galvanised frame welding all happen at our Ajman factory, so nothing waits on an outside supplier. Visits during production are welcome.

Wide-format printing

Our UV and solvent printers print up to 3.2 m wide in one pass, so large renders need fewer joins across the face of the board.

Wording checked before print

Our draftsmen check project names, permit details and parties in Arabic and English against the documents you send, before anything is printed.

Panels designed for change

Permit and party details sit on separate panels, so updates during the project are a quick swap rather than a full reprint.

Itemised quotes in 24 hours

Print, panels, steel, fixings and installation are listed separately, usually within 24 hours, so your commercial team can compare offers like for like.

Trusted across the UAE

More than 500 clients across the UAE, including national retail groups and international brands, and most of our work comes from returning clients and referrals.

FAQ

Project Information Boards questions we are asked most

How much does a project signboard cost in Dubai?

The cost depends on the face size, the height, the panel material, the fixing method and the site access. A 2.4 x 1.2 m board on the hoarding costs a fraction of a 6 x 3 m freestanding board raised above the fence on its own legs. Send us the size, content and a site photo, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Is a project signboard mandatory on UAE construction sites?

In most cases a board showing the permit and the responsible parties is expected, but the exact requirement depends on the authority and the type of project. Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, free zones and master developers can each set their own rules. We confirm the current requirement for your site and follow the content your consultant provides.

What should a project signboard include?

Usually the project name, plot number, building permit details, the owner or developer, consultant and main contractor, often with a render of the finished building. Some authorities and developers specify the order, sizes and colours. We lay out the board from the wording you supply and send one proof for written approval before printing.

What is the most common project board size?

Boards of 4.8 x 2.4 m and 6 x 3 m are very common on main roads, because they suit standard ACP sheet sizes and read well from passing cars. Smaller plots and interior fit-outs often use 2.4 x 1.2 m. If the authority or developer specifies a size, we build to that size.

Should the board be freestanding or fixed to the hoarding?

Fixing to the hoarding is neater and avoids a separate base, provided the hoarding posts were designed for the extra wind load. Freestanding boards are better when the hoarding is low, set back or temporary, or when the board must face a particular road. We look at the site plan and recommend one.

Can you update a project signboard when contractors or permit details change?

Yes. We design boards with separate panels for the details most likely to change, so we can print and replace one section without touching the rest. A printed overlay is quicker for an urgent change, but a new panel looks cleaner over a long project.

How long does it take to make a project signboard?

Once artwork and permit details are approved, we give you a realistic schedule for printing, fabrication and installation with the quote, including any time the base needs before the board goes up. Late wording changes are the most common cause of delay, so we work from one signed-off proof.

Do you remove the board at the end of the project?

Yes. At handover we can dismantle the board, remove the legs and frame, or leave the frame in place for the next phase with new printed panels. Tell us the plan when you order, because it affects how we detail the base fixings.
