Hanging Retail Signs in Dubai, Sharjah & Abu Dhabi

Bayan Signage makes and installs hanging retail signs for hypermarkets, fashion outlets, pharmacies and electronics stores: aisle markers, department signs, cashier signs, sale danglers and suspended lightboxes. We print and cut every panel in our Ajman factory, plan the suspension against your ceiling and sprinkler layout, and hang each sign level, usually outside trading hours so shoppers are not disturbed.

Hanging Retail Signs in the UAE

Hanging retail signs that work above the shelves

Hanging retail signs are panels suspended from the ceiling to name aisles, mark departments, point to the cashier or announce a sale above a zone. In a hypermarket they are the main wayfinding layer, telling a shopper where the rice is from the far end of the store. In fashion, beauty and electronics stores they set the campaign mood over a feature table. We make them for retail chains, mall tenants, pharmacies and brand teams running in-store promotions.

A sign at 2.5 to 3.5 m can be seen across the whole floor when wall and shelf signs are hidden behind fixtures and people. But it only works if it hangs level, stays still under strong air conditioning and keeps clear of sprinklers and detectors. The weak point is rarely the print: it is a clip on a T-bar carrying more than it should, a hole drilled too near the edge of a soft board, or two wires on a panel that needed four. We plan the whole suspension before we print anything.

Bayan Signage has run its factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman since 2016 as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE. Our UV printers produce double-sided panels, vinyl and backlit film up to 3.2 m wide in one pass, our CNC routers cut rigid boards to shape, and our installation crews are used to mall work permits and night shifts in trading stores.

Our process

How we make and install hanging retail signs

  1. Ceiling survey

We record the ceiling type and height, the positions of sprinklers, detectors, diffusers and lights, and where the slab can be reached. Reflected ceiling plans help when the store has them. The visit is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Layout and hanging plan

Our designers set sign positions against the main walking routes and the ceiling services, then draw each sign with its weight, wire points and fixing type so installers know exactly what goes where.

  3. Printing and cutting

Panels are UV-printed on both faces with registration checked front to back, then CNC-cut to shape. Acrylic and ACP pieces are cut on the same routers, and lightbox faces are printed on backlit film for even light.

  4. Hanging hardware

Top rails, threaded inserts or reinforced eyelets are fitted so the load spreads into the panel. Lit signs are wired and run at full brightness in our test area before dispatch.

  5. Quality check and packing

Each sign is checked against the approved artwork and the hanging plan, labelled with its location code and packed flat so it arrives unmarked.

  6. Night installation and levelling

Our crew fixes ceiling points, hangs each sign to the planned height, levels every corner on the wire grips and checks for spin under the air conditioning before the store opens.

Expert advice

Advice from our installation team

Hanging signs are judged from the floor, but they succeed or fail at the ceiling. These are the points our installers raise on almost every store survey.

Work out the height band first

The bottom of the sign should usually sit at 2.4 m or more, clear of tall shoppers, stacked trolleys and pallet trucks. The top should stay well below sprinkler heads, often around 450 mm, and clear of detectors. In a store with a 4 m ceiling, that leaves a band of roughly 1 m for the sign itself, which sets its height before anyone designs the artwork.

Hang across the walking line

Signs read best when they hang at right angles to the direction shoppers walk, so they see the face rather than the edge. Aisle markers go across the end of each aisle, facing the main walkway, at one consistent height. When every marker sits in the same place, shoppers learn where to look within a few seconds of entering.

Size text for 15 to 30 m

Aisle markers are read from the far side of the main walkway, so 100 to 150 mm cap height is a sensible minimum for category names, with aisle numbers larger still. Arabic often needs a little more height to read clearly at that distance. We would rather show five categories clearly than eight that nobody can read.

Respect what the ceiling can carry

A suspended ceiling T-bar is not a structural fixing. Light panels under about 2 to 3 kg can use rated clips; anything heavier, including lightboxes and large fabric frames, goes to the slab with proper anchors. We never hang signs from ducts, cable trays or sprinkler pipes, however convenient they look.

Leave a grid for future campaigns

Stores that change campaigns monthly save money by keeping a permanent grid of wires and top rails at agreed positions. New panels then clip on after closing time without new ceiling work, permits or ladders in the middle of trading. We plan that grid with the first permanent signs so every later campaign is cheaper.

Pricing

Hanging retail signs price in Dubai: what affects the cost

Each project is quoted from the sign schedule and the ceiling conditions. Send the store plan or photos, the sign list and artwork, and we send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Number and size of signs

A set of aisle markers for a hypermarket is a different job from three sale panels, and larger signs use more material and print area.

Panel material

Fluted polypropylene and foam PVC are economical for campaigns. ACP, honeycomb board and framed fabric cost more but last much longer.

Single or double-sided print

Most hanging signs are read from both directions, so double-sided print with matched registration is standard and adds to the print cost.

Ceiling fixing

Clips on a suspended ceiling are quick. Slab anchors above the ceiling, tile removal and high ceilings needing a scissor lift take longer.

Lighting

Suspended lightboxes add LEDs, drivers, slab fixings and a safe power drop from the ceiling, coordinated with the store electrician.

Working hours and permits

Night work in trading stores and mall work permits affect installation cost, along with the number of branches in a rollout.

Approvals

Civil Defence and mall rules for hanging retail signs

Hanging signs must not obstruct sprinklers, smoke detectors, emergency lighting or exit signs, and materials should be suitable for use in the store. These requirements come under Dubai Civil Defence and the equivalent authority in other emirates, and the store's fire consultant may check them during inspections. We work from the ceiling plan and keep signs within the clearances your premises need.

In malls, ceiling work usually needs a work permit, insurance documents and night access, and landlords may restrict what hangs near the shopfront line or above common areas. We prepare method statements, coordinate with mall management before installing and confirm the current requirements for your store, because they vary from mall to mall.

Why Bayan Signage

Why retailers choose Bayan Signage for hanging retail signs

Print and cut in-house

Double-sided printing, acrylic and ACP cutting, and lightbox assembly all happen at our Ajman factory, so reprints and new campaigns move quickly.

Planned against your ceiling

Every sign has a position, weight and fixing on the hanging plan before it is printed, so nothing is improvised at the top of a ladder.

Night installation crews

Our crews install outside trading hours in stores and malls, and the team that made the signs is the team that hangs them.

Bilingual wayfinding

Arabic and English are designed as a pair on every aisle marker, sized for the distance shoppers actually read from.

Multi-branch rollouts

Signs are labelled by store and location code, with one project manager coordinating every branch from brief to handover.

Trusted by retail groups

More than 500 clients across the UAE, including national retail groups and international brands, many of them returning store after store.

FAQ

Hanging Retail Signs questions we are asked most

How much do hanging retail signs cost in Dubai?

It depends on the number and size of signs, the panel material, single or double-sided printing, the ceiling fixing, any lighting and when the installation can happen. A set of campaign danglers costs far less than lit department signs fixed to the slab. Send us the sign list and store photos, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How high should hanging signs be in a store?

The bottom edge usually sits at about 2.4 m or higher, clear of shoppers and stacked trolleys, and the top stays well below sprinklers and detectors. In a 4 m ceiling that leaves roughly 1 m for the sign. We set the exact band from your ceiling survey.

Can signs be hung from a suspended ceiling?

Light panels, typically under about 2 to 3 kg, can hang from suspended ceiling T-bars using rated clips. Heavier signs, lightboxes and large fabric frames must be fixed to the concrete slab above the ceiling with proper anchors. We confirm the weight of every sign on the hanging plan.

Why do hanging signs spin, and how do you stop it?

Strong air conditioning flows from nearby diffusers push lightweight panels around, especially when they hang on only two wires. We check diffuser positions during the survey, use four-point suspension on signs wider than about 1 m and add a bottom rail or weighted edge on larger panels to keep them steady.

What is the best material for hanging store signs?

For permanent aisle and department signs, foam PVC or ACP printed both sides gives a flat, long-lasting panel. For short sales and seasonal campaigns, fluted polypropylene or honeycomb board is lighter and cheaper. Large brand images are best in framed fabric, which stays light even at several metres wide.

Do you install hanging signs at night in malls?

Yes. Most of our in-store installation happens outside trading hours. In malls we arrange the work permit, method statement and insurance documents with mall management, then hang and level the signs after closing so the store opens normally the next morning.

Can you make hanging signs in Arabic and English?

Yes. Almost every aisle marker we make is bilingual. We design both scripts together on the panel and size the Arabic so it reads at the same distance as the English rather than shrinking it to fit.

Do you supply hanging retail signs outside Dubai?

Yes. We produce in Ajman and install across all seven emirates, including Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The site survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
