Shelf-Edge Signs in the UAE

Shelf edge strips that keep the price where the hand reaches

Shelf edge strips are the narrow profiles that clip or stick to the front lip of a shelf and hold the price ticket, the product name and often the promotion. The plain version, a clear data strip, lets staff slide paper tickets in and out without tape; printed strips add category colour or a brand message along a whole bay. They are for supermarket and grocery chains, pharmacies, electronics accessory walls, cosmetics fixtures and the brands that buy promotional space on those shelves.

It is the narrowest sign in the store and the one shoppers read most closely, from about half a metre away. Good strips are cut exactly to the module, grip the ticket firmly without tearing it, sit flat after a hundred trolley knocks and stay put in a chiller. Poor ones are a size off, curl in the cold and end up patched with tape. We fit-test a sample on your actual shelves before we cut a full order, because shelf brands and lip thicknesses vary more than most people expect.

Bayan Signage has run its production floor at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman since 2016, as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE market. Printing, laminating, cutting and kitting all happen in-house, which matters when a promotion has to reach many branches for the same launch. Our project managers handle the store lists, and our crews can fit after closing time if your staff cannot.

Our process

How we produce shelf edge strips for your stores

  1. Shelf audit

We walk a typical store with your team, record each shelf make, lip thickness and module width, and count the chillers, wire shelves and glass shelves. One accurate store list saves many wrong lengths later.

  2. Sample and fit test

We send sample profiles for each shelf type so your staff can clip, knock and clean them on the real fixtures. Only the profiles that pass go onto the order.

  3. Artwork and ticket template

Our designers set the strip graphics and a bilingual ticket template with the price, unit price, barcode and Arabic name in fixed positions, checked at full size before printing.

  4. Printing and laminating

Printed strips and inserts are produced on our large-format UV printers onto paper, card or synthetic stock, then laminated where trolleys, cleaning or long campaigns demand it.

  5. Cutting and kitting

Strips are cut to each module length and packed in labelled bundles per store, per aisle and per bay, with end caps and a one-page fitting sheet in every box.

  6. Fitting or handover

Most store teams fit their own strips in minutes without tools. Where you prefer, our crew fits branches outside trading hours and removes old strips and residue so trading starts clean.

Expert advice

Advice from our retail production team

Shelf strips look simple, which is why the mistakes are so common. These are the points we check before any order goes into production.

Measure every module, not one shelf

Many stores mix 1,000, 1,250 and 1,330 mm shelf modules, sometimes in the same aisle, and older bays may be a different make entirely. Ordering one length for the whole store means gaps or overlaps on every other bay. We cut each strip to the module less 2 to 3 mm for the end caps, and we label bundles by aisle so the right length reaches the right shelf.

Make the price the hero of the ticket

At arm's length, price numerals of 8 to 12 mm read comfortably. For bottom shelves viewed from a standing position, go up to 15 to 20 mm, because the eye is further away than it seems. Product names can drop to 3 or 4 mm. Keeping the price, unit price, barcode and Arabic name in the same place on every ticket helps shoppers compare and helps staff spot errors quickly.

Treat chillers as a separate project

Ordinary tape soon lets go on a cold, damp chiller shelf, and paper tickets go soft and illegible. Chiller and freezer bays need cold-rated adhesives or clips designed for wire shelves, and synthetic tickets. We list them as a separate line on the store schedule so they are never fitted with the ambient strips by mistake.

One promotion per facing

Three wobblers, a talker and a sticker on the same metre of shelf cancel each other out, and the price, which is what most people are looking for, gets lost. Our rule for brand kits is one wobbler or talker per product facing, placed so it never covers the ticket. Brands that follow it usually find their offer is noticed more, not less.

Plan for the seasonal peaks

Ramadan, Eid, back to school and year-end sales bring waves of promotions. When nobody plans removable inserts, staff stick labels straight onto the strip, which ruins it and leaves residue. We design a removable promotion insert that drops into the existing channel, so each peak costs a print run instead of new strips.

Pricing

Shelf edge strips price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote from your store schedule, so there is no single rate per metre. Send the number of stores, shelf types, approximate metres and any artwork, and you will receive an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Total metres and number of lengths

Strips are priced by length, and cutting to many different module sizes adds handling compared with one standard length.

Profile type

Standard clear data strips are the most economical. Coloured bodies, custom clips for unusual shelves and chiller-grade adhesives cost more per metre.

Printed graphics

Full-colour strips add design, proofing, printing and lamination. Synthetic stock costs more than card but lasts far longer on the shelf.

Accessories

End caps, wobbler arms, talker clips and dividers are counted per piece, so a promotion-heavy kit costs more than plain strips.

Kitting per store

Packing strips and accessories by store, aisle and bay takes labour, but saves wrong fittings and wasted staff time across a chain.

Fitting and delivery

Delivery across the emirates and after-hours fitting by our crew in trading stores are priced separately from supply.

Approvals

Price display rules and store standards for shelf edge strips

Shelf strips do not need a permit, but they do carry a compliance job. UAE consumer protection rules generally expect prices to be shown clearly on or beside the goods and to match what the customer pays at the till, and the economic departments in each emirate inspect stores. A strip layout that puts the price in the same visible place on every ticket makes that far easier to manage.

Large chains and mall tenants also follow group store standards for strip colour, height and ticket layout, and supplier promotions usually need the retailer's approval before anything goes on the shelf. We design to your standard or the retailer's guidelines, and we confirm any current pricing or labelling requirement your stores must meet.

Why Bayan Signage

Why retailers choose Bayan Signage for shelf edge strips

Print and cutting in-house

Strips, inserts and talkers are printed, laminated, cut and packed at our Ajman factory, so reprints and urgent top-ups do not wait on a third party.

Fit-tested before production

Sample profiles are tried on your actual shelves first, so clip-on strips match the lip and adhesive strips match the surface.

Kitted for multi-branch rollouts

Every store receives a labelled kit by aisle and bay, which makes the coordinated promotion launches that chains and brands need realistic.

Bilingual ticket design

Our designers lay out Arabic and English together on templates sized to your strip, so neither language is squeezed into a corner.

One project manager

One contact handles the store list, artwork approvals, deliveries and any after-hours fitting, from the first audit to the last branch.

FAQ

Shelf-Edge Signs questions we are asked most

How much do shelf edge strips cost in Dubai?

The cost depends on the total metres, the profile type, whether the strips are printed, the accessories and how the order is packed and fitted. Plain clear data strips for one store cost far less than printed, kitted strips for a chain. Send us your store schedule and shelf photos, and we will reply with an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

What size shelf edge strip do I need?

Strip height follows the shelf lip. Many grocery and pharmacy shelves take a 39 mm strip, slimmer display shelves suit 26 or 30 mm, and wire or deep chiller shelves may need a taller profile or a special clip. Length is the module width less 2 to 3 mm for end caps. We confirm both with a sample fit before ordering.

Are clip-on or adhesive strips better?

Clip-on strips are better on standard metal gondola shelving, because they come off cleanly and can be reused when the layout changes. Adhesive strips suit glass, wood and mixed shelving where no clip fits, provided the surface is clean and dry. Magnetic strips work on steel shelves that are rearranged often, though they can slide if knocked.

Will shelf strips stay on in fridges and freezers?

Yes, if they are made for it. Standard tape fails quickly on cold, damp shelves, so chiller and freezer bays need strips with cold-rated adhesive or a clip for wire shelves, and synthetic tickets that resist moisture. We schedule those bays separately so the right strips reach them.

Can you print shelf strips and tickets in Arabic and English?

Yes. We design bilingual strips and ticket templates with both scripts planned from the start. Arabic usually needs slightly more height to stay legible at small sizes, so we size it on its own rather than shrinking it to match the English.

How quickly can you supply strips for a promotion across many stores?

That depends on the number of stores, the artwork and the materials, so we agree a programme with the quote. Because printing, cutting and kitting all happen in our own factory, we can plan a rollout so every branch receives its labelled kit in time for the same launch date.

Do you print the weekly price tickets as well?

Most stores print their weekly tickets on their own office printers, which is faster for frequent changes. We design the ticket template sized exactly to your strip, and we print long-running inserts, promotional tickets and synthetic tickets for chillers where office paper would not last.

Do you deliver and fit shelf strips outside Dubai?

Yes. We deliver from Ajman to stores across all seven emirates, including Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Store teams usually fit the strips, and our crews can fit after closing time where you prefer. The site visit is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
