Poster frames and backlit print

Poster Light Box Frames in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman

Bayan Signage makes poster light boxes for businesses whose message changes more often than their sign: pharmacies, estate agents, restaurants, gyms and malls. We build the lit frame in our Ajman factory, print the backlit posters on our own UV printers, and set every frame up so your staff can swap a poster in a couple of minutes.

Poster light box frames built for changing content

A poster light box is a shallow illuminated frame that holds a printed backlit poster behind a clear cover, lit by LEDs from behind or from the edges. The frame opens from the front, by snapping, lifting or with a key, so the poster can change without tools. Most lightboxes are designed around a permanent face; this one is designed for the face to change with every campaign, often monthly, which suits promotions, menus, property listings, class timetables and mall campaigns.

What makes a poster frame good is mostly about the change. Rails that bend after twenty openings, a cover that clouds in a year, a light panel that leaves the corners grey, or a frame sized so that every poster has to be custom-trimmed: these are the things that make staff stop updating the display. We build around standard print sizes, choose the opening mechanism for who will use it and where, and test each light panel at full brightness for even corners before it leaves Ajman.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE for 15 years, and our factory in Ajman has been running since 2016. Because our large-format UV and solvent printers handle backlit film, we can supply the frames and the posters from one place, and keep printing campaigns for every branch afterwards. More than 500 clients across the UAE, including national retail groups, work with us.

Our process

How we make poster light boxes in our Ajman factory

  1. Site check and size choice

We look at where the frame will hang, how much daylight it faces, who will open it and where power is. Then we recommend a standard size, so every future poster prints without trimming.

  2. Frame and panel production

Aluminium profiles are cut and mitred to size. Light guide panels or LED trays are cut to the exact poster format, never trimmed from a bigger stock panel, so the light stays even.

  3. Light test at full brightness

Each frame is run at full brightness with a test poster in place. We check the corners and edges for grey areas and confirm the opening mechanism works smoothly before sign-off.

  4. Template and first print

You receive the exact visible area and safe zone for your designer. We print the first set of posters on backlit film on our UV printers and fit them for handover.

  5. Installation and handover

Frames go on a concealed rail or a post with a footing, powered from a nearby socket or fused spur. We show your staff how to open and close the frame without bending the rails.

Expert advice

Advice from our print and frame team

With poster frames, the printing over the next five years costs more than the frame. These points keep both under control.

Stick to standard paper sizes

A2 (420 x 594 mm) and A1 (594 x 841 mm) suit counters and small walls, A0 (841 x 1,189 mm) is the usual window and corridor size, and mupi format is used for large mall and street panels. A custom frame means every future poster is a custom print and trim. Across ten branches and twelve campaigns a year, that adds up quickly, so we only build odd sizes when the wall really demands it.

Design inside the safe zone

The frame rail covers 10 to 20 mm of the poster on each side. Ask for 10 mm bleed and keep text at least 30 mm inside the visible edge, or the last letter of a headline disappears under the rail. We send your designer a template with the visible area marked, which saves a reprint on the very first campaign.

Size headlines for the queue, not the desk

A headline needs roughly 25 to 30 mm of height for every 10 m of reading distance. An A1 poster seen from a 4 m pharmacy queue can carry 40 mm body text; an A0 in a window read from the pavement needs a headline of 100 mm or more. Fewer words at a larger size beat more words every time on a lit poster.

Do not put indoor frames outside

A snap frame on an outdoor terrace fills with dust, its print curls in humidity and the thin edge-lit panel is too dim to read in daylight. Outdoor and semi-outdoor spots need a sealed, direct-lit, lockable case. Behind south or west-facing glass, even indoor posters can fade in a single summer, so we use UV-stable inks there.

Lock anything the public can reach

Snap frames open by hand, which also means anyone can take the poster. In mall corridors, building lobbies and outdoor positions, a lockable case costs more but stops posters walking off or being replaced with someone else's. Indoors behind a counter or in a staff-supervised area, a snap or magnetic frame is fine and quicker to change.

Pricing

Poster light box price in Dubai: what affects the cost

Tell us the poster size, how many frames, indoor or outdoor and the type of opening you want, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours. Poster printing is quoted separately so you can see the running cost.

Frame size

Standard A-sizes are quickest to make and cheapest to print for. Custom sizes need custom-cut light panels and covers, and every future poster becomes a custom print.

Opening mechanism

Snap frames are the most economical. Magnetic fronts cost a little more, and hinged lockable cases with seals cost noticeably more but resist tampering and weather.

Edge-lit or direct-lit

Edge-lit panels keep indoor frames thin. Direct-lit trays are deeper and brighter, and outdoor or sunny window positions usually need them.

Single or double-sided

Freestanding double-sided cases need two covers, two posters, more light and a weighted base or footing.

Quantity across branches

Matching frames for several branches cost less per frame, because profiles, panels and covers are cut in one batch.

Poster printing

Backlit film costs more than paper, and UV-stable outdoor printing more again. Over the life of the frame, printing is often the larger cost.

Approvals

Poster light box rules in malls and on the street

Indoor poster frames inside your own unit rarely need a municipality permit, but malls usually control anything visible from the corridor. Tenant criteria may limit frame size, brightness and placement, and some malls ask to approve campaign artwork before each change. We check the current criteria for your mall before installation and prepare a drawing if building management asks for one.

Outdoor poster cases facing a street, or freestanding cases on a pavement or forecourt, can count as advertising signs, which usually need approval from the local municipality or free-zone authority in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman or Abu Dhabi. Rules depend on location and content, so we confirm what applies to your site at the survey and prepare the submission where one is needed.

Why Bayan Signage

Why businesses choose Bayan Signage for poster light boxes

Frames and posters from one factory

We build the lit frames and print the backlit posters on our own UV printers in Ajman, so sizes, colours and light match from the first campaign.

Panels cut to size

Light panels are made to your exact poster format rather than trimmed from stock, so the corners stay as bright as the centre.

Branch rollouts

We batch frames for several branches and keep templates on file, so every site gets an identical frame and identical posters.

Outdoor cases built for UAE weather

Lockable outdoor cases have gaskets, sealed drivers and IP65 LEDs, and carry our 5-year outdoor warranty on LEDs, finish and structure.

Staff shown how to use them

At handover we fit the first poster and show your team how to change it cleanly, so the frame keeps working.

Itemised quotes

Frames, installation and printing are listed separately, usually within 24 hours, so you know the set-up cost and the running cost.

FAQ

Poster Lightboxes questions we are asked most

What poster sizes fit a standard light box?

The common sizes are A2, A1 and A0, plus mupi format at about 1,200 x 1,750 mm for large mall and outdoor panels. Each frame covers part of the poster edge, so we supply the exact visible area and safe zone for your designer or printer before artwork starts.

Can my staff change the poster themselves?

Yes, that is the point of a poster light box. Snap frames open by lifting the four rails by hand, magnetic fronts lift off and lockable cases open with a key. A change usually takes a couple of minutes, and we show your team how to do it on the day of installation.

Can a poster light box be used outdoors?

Yes, if it is built for it. Outdoor poster cases are deeper, direct-lit, sealed with gaskets and closed with a lockable, UV-stabilised polycarbonate door. Indoor snap frames should not go outside: dust and humidity get in, the print curls and the light is too dim to read in daylight.

Do you print the posters as well?

Yes. We print on backlit film on our own large-format UV printers and can supply the first set with the frames, then print campaigns for all your branches afterwards. If you already have a printer, we give them the exact size, visible area and recommended film so posters fit and light correctly.

How much does a poster light box cost in Dubai?

It depends on size, the opening mechanism, indoor or outdoor build, single or double-sided and quantity. An A1 snap frame for a counter costs far less than a lockable double-sided mupi case on a post. Send us the size, quantity and location and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Is a poster light box cheaper than a digital screen?

Up front, almost always, and it uses less power. If your content changes daily or you want video, a screen saves printing and labour over time. For monthly or seasonal changes, a lit poster frame is usually the better value, and it never needs a content system or software updates.

Why does my poster look dull or blotchy when lit?

Usually it is printed on paper or standard poster stock instead of backlit film, which scatters light unevenly. A scratched or cloudy cover and a failed LED strip on one edge cause the same effect. A reprint on backlit film or a new cover normally fixes it.

How long does a poster light box last?

Frames and LED panels typically last eight to ten years, and the LED modules we use are rated for around 50,000 hours. Covers are wear parts that may need replacing after three to five years of frequent poster changes or strong sun, and we can supply replacements cut to your frame.
