FAQDouble-Sided Lightboxes questions we are asked most
Can each side of a double-sided lightbox show a different design?
Yes. Each face is made separately, so they can carry different artwork, such as a logo on one side and opening hours on the other. The box then needs an opaque divider so neither design shows through at night. Most clients still choose the same design on both faces, because traffic from each direction then gets the full message.
How far can a projecting light box stick out from the wall?
Most projecting boxes are 500 to 1,000 mm across, standing 100 to 200 mm clear of the wall. Longer reaches are possible with a heavier arm and a check of the wall structure. Landlords and authorities often set a maximum projection over footpaths, so we confirm the limit for your street before design.
Do I need a permit for a projecting sign in Dubai?
Usually, yes. Signs projecting over public footpaths or visible from the road generally need approval from Dubai Municipality or the relevant free-zone or community authority, and malls and developers may apply stricter rules. We prepare the drawings, handle the submission and confirm the current requirement for your location.
How much does a double-sided light box sign cost?
It depends mostly on size, shape, the bracket or post, face material and the civil and electrical work on site. A small round box on a wall arm costs far less than a 1.5 m box on a post with a new cable trench. We send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours of receiving your logo, rough size and photos.
Round, square or logo-shaped: which reads best?
Round and square boxes are the easiest to read at an angle and the most economical. A logo-shaped box is more memorable and suits brands with a strong symbol, but fitting text inside an irregular outline is harder. On a busy street, a simple shape with a bold mark usually beats a complex one.
What is the difference between a double-sided lightbox and a blade sign?
A blade sign is any flat sign projecting from a wall; it can be printed, cut metal or lit. A double-sided lightbox is a lit cabinet, deeper and brighter, with faces that can be opened and changed. For night visibility on a shopping street the lightbox wins; for a heritage-style frontage a slim unlit blade often looks better.
Can you refurbish my existing double-sided sign?
Often, yes. If the cabinet and bracket are sound, we make new faces, refresh the graphics and swap fluorescent tubes for LEDs inside the same box. At the survey we check the bracket and wall plate for rust and water damage, and tell you honestly whether repair or a new box is the better value.
How do you stop a projecting sign rusting near the sea?
We use galvanised steel brackets with a powder-coat finish, stainless fixings in the right grade for the site, and isolating washers wherever stainless meets aluminium. Once a year, check the wall plate for rust spots, which are the first sign of water getting in. For beachfront sites we specify a sealed weatherproof cabinet build.
