Slim LED Light Box Signs in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman

Bayan Signage builds slim LED light boxes from 50 to 100 mm deep in its own Ajman factory, for mall units, clinics and shopfronts where a deep cabinet will not fit or will not look right. We plan the LED grid for each depth, test every box at full brightness before dispatch, and install it with the crew that built it.

Slim LED light box signs, made to the millimetre

A slim LED light box is an illuminated sign cabinet with an extruded aluminium frame usually 50 to 100 mm deep, a white back tray carrying a grid of LED modules, and a face of opal acrylic, printed backlit film or push-through letters. It is the modern replacement for the 200 mm fluorescent cabinet. It suits mall tenants working to a projection limit, clinics and pharmacies that want a clean fascia, offices fitting lit panels into a finished interior, and shop owners in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman swapping an old box on the same brackets.

Taking depth out of a lightbox is easy. Keeping the face even while you do it is the skill. The closer the face sits to the LEDs, the tighter the module grid has to be, or the sign shows a pattern of bright dots after dark; a 50 mm box needs roughly twice the modules of a 90 mm box the same size. We plan the grid for the exact depth, use a gloss white tray to throw light forward, and run every box at full brightness in our test area before the face goes on, so hot spots are found in Ajman rather than on your fascia.

Bayan Signage has fabricated lightboxes in Ajman since 2016 as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE market for 15 years. Frames, faces, LED assembly, driver wiring and printing all happen under one roof at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, and our draftsmen prepare the drawings that mall landlords and municipalities ask for. More than 500 clients, from single clinics to national retail groups, have trusted us with their signs.

Our process

How we build a slim LED light box in our Ajman factory

  1. Survey and projection check

We measure the fascia or wall, confirm the maximum projection the landlord allows, check what the box will fix to and find the power point. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Depth and LED grid design

Our draftsmen fix the frame depth first, then calculate module spacing for that depth. The shop drawing shows face size, joints, fixings and driver position, and doubles as the approval drawing.

  3. Frame cutting and assembly

Aluminium profiles are cut, mitred and joined with corner keys so long frames stay square. The back tray is CNC-routed to ±0.1 mm and finished gloss white to reflect light forward.

  4. Face production

Opal acrylic faces are CNC-cut, then cut vinyl is laid or backlit film is printed on our large-format UV printers. Brand colours are approved on a lit sample, because translucent vinyl shifts shade when lit.

  5. Full-brightness test

Each box is wired and run at full brightness in our test area. We look for hot spots, dim corners and colour shift, adjust the grid if needed, then sign it off against the approved artwork.

  6. Installation and night check

The crew that built the box fixes a level rail or cleats, hangs the box, places the driver in a ventilated spot and checks after dark that the face is even from corner to corner.

Specification

Slim LED light box specification: our standard build

This is the build we start from for a typical fascia or mall box. We adjust it to the site, the tenant criteria and your budget, and every change shows as its own line on the quote.

ComponentOur standardUpgrade optionsWhy it matters
Frame profile50 to 90 mm extruded aluminium, powder-coatedAnodised finish, custom RAL, hinged frontDepth drives everything else, so we use the deepest the site allows; every 10 mm saved adds LEDs.
Face5 mm opal cast acrylic with cast vinylPrinted backlit film, fabric SEG face, push-through lettersA dense opal hides individual LED dots when the face sits close to the modules.
LED modulesSamsung or Epistar lens modules, IP65, 12 V DC24 V for long runs, higher density for 50 mm framesWide-angle lenses spread light across a short throw, which is what makes a slim box possible.
Back trayGloss white aluminium or ACPReflective film liningA white tray sends stray light forward and evens the face far better than a grey or bare one.

Expert advice

Advice from our lightbox estimating team

Most slim box problems are decided on the drawing, long before the LEDs are switched on. These are the points we raise when a new brief arrives.

Use every millimetre the landlord allows

If the tenant criteria allow 100 mm, build at 90 mm, not 50. As a working figure, a 50 mm box needs about 120 to 150 modules per square metre for an even face, while a 90 mm box manages with 60 to 80. On a 3 m by 0.8 m fascia that is roughly 300 modules against 170: more power, more heat and more parts to fail. Slimmer looks better on a drawing; from the street, 90 mm looks almost the same and runs cooler.

Below 40 mm, change the construction

Direct backlighting needs space for light to spread. Under about 40 mm the face shows a polka-dot pattern however many modules you add. If a design really must be thinner, for a glass transom or a tight bulkhead, we switch to an edge-lit build with a light guide panel. It is dimmer, so we only recommend it indoors or in deep shade, and we tell you that before you commit.

Plan the face for its longest side

Acrylic faces beyond about 2.4 m long need a joint or a mullion, and a 5 mm face spanning 1.2 m can sag a few millimetres in summer heat. We place joints between words or on a colour change and add a hidden stiffener rather than a thicker sheet, because a thicker face pushes the box deeper. On very long fascias, two or three boxes butted on tight joints often look cleaner than one.

Reuse old brackets, but test them first

Many fluorescent boxes on older streets in Sharjah and Ajman hang on steel brackets that can easily carry a slim LED box at a fraction of the weight. We reuse sound fixings to save cost and avoid fresh holes in the facade. Rusted plates and anchors that have started to pull from blockwork are replaced, because a new sign on a failing bracket is not a saving.

Dim indoor boxes, light outdoor ones properly

A slim box bright enough for a sun-facing street will glare in a mall corridor or a clinic waiting room. Indoor boxes get a dimmable driver so the level can be set on site in the evening. Street-facing boxes get denser modules and a slightly lighter opal instead, plus a timer or photocell so the sign is not burning through the daylight hours.

Pricing

Slim LED light box price in Dubai: what affects the cost

There is no fixed price list because every box is built to its site. Send us the width, height, allowed projection, your logo and a photo, and you receive an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours, with fabrication, installation and permits shown separately.

Depth against LED count

The slimmer the frame, the more modules per square metre it needs to stay even. A 50 mm box can cost more to light than a 90 mm box of the same size.

Face construction

Cut vinyl on opal acrylic is the most economical face. Printed backlit film, day/night film and routed faces with push-through letters each add material and machining time.

Size and joints

Faces larger than a standard acrylic sheet need joints, mullions and extra frame stiffening, which add fabrication time and careful layout work.

Frame finish

Standard white, black or silver is quickest. A matched RAL colour or an anodised finish adds a separate finishing stage to the programme.

Mounting substrate

Solid blockwork is simple. ACP cladding, glass transoms and gypsum bulkheads usually need a hidden subframe or backing plate, priced as its own line.

Site work and approvals

Mall night shifts, access equipment, removal of an old box we installed, new electrical points and landlord or municipality submissions sit on the site side of the quote.

Approvals

Slim LED light box approvals in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Inside malls, the first approval is usually the landlord's. Tenant design criteria commonly fix the maximum projection, face brightness, colour temperature and illumination hours, and shop drawings must be approved before fabrication starts. We work from the current criteria pack for your mall and submit the drawings on your behalf, which is often where a slim box earns its place over a deeper one.

Street-facing boxes usually need a permit from Dubai Municipality, Sharjah Municipality or Ajman Municipality, or from the free-zone authority, such as JAFZA, DMCC or TECOM, where the unit sits inside one. Our draftsmen check that the trade name matches your licence in Arabic and English and prepare the submission. Requirements vary by location, so we confirm them for your exact address at the survey.

Why Bayan Signage

Why businesses choose Bayan Signage for slim LED light boxes

Built in Ajman, start to finish

Frames, faces, LED assembly, wiring and print are produced in our factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2. You are welcome to visit while your box is in production.

LED grids planned per depth

We calculate module spacing for each frame depth instead of reusing one layout for every box, so a 50 mm face looks as even as a 90 mm one.

5-year outdoor warranty

Street-facing slim boxes are covered for 5 years on LEDs, powder coat and structure, with the warranty document handed over at completion.

Landlord and permit drawings

Our technical draftsmen prepare the shop drawings malls ask for and the submissions for municipalities and free zones, then follow them through.

Itemised quotes

Materials, labour, installation and permits are listed line by line, usually within 24 hours, so you can compare offers on equal terms.

One team, one contact

A single project manager runs the job from survey to handover, and the crew that built your box installs it and returns if it ever needs attention.

FAQ

Slim LED Lightboxes questions we are asked most

How much does a slim LED light box cost in Dubai?

It depends on size, depth, face type, finish, mounting and access, so we price each box from its drawing. A small indoor box with a vinyl face costs far less than a long 50 mm street fascia with push-through letters fixed to cladding. Send us the size, the allowed depth, your logo and a site photo, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How slim can an LED light box be?

With LEDs behind the face, around 40 to 50 mm is the practical minimum for an even glow, and most slim boxes we make are 50 to 90 mm deep. Thinner than that, an edge-lit construction with a light guide panel goes down to 15 to 35 mm, but it is less bright and best kept indoors or in shade.

Are slim light boxes bright enough for outdoor use?

Yes, when the module density and face are chosen for the street. An outdoor box usually gets more modules and a slightly lighter opal than an indoor box of the same size. Heat is a bigger limit than brightness, so outdoor drivers sit outside the box in a shaded enclosure and we use IP65 modules throughout.

Can you replace my old fluorescent lightbox with a slim LED one?

Usually, yes. We measure the existing cabinet and brackets, then build a slim LED box to the same footprint or a better one, often reusing sound fixing points. The new box draws a fraction of the power and weighs much less. If the old cabinet is one we made and installed, our crew takes it down and disposes of it in the same visit; otherwise it should be cleared before we fit.

How long does it take to make a slim LED lightbox?

The fabrication programme is confirmed with your quote, because it depends on size, finish, face type and how many boxes are in the order. Mall approvals and municipality permits run on their own timescale, which we show separately on the programme. You get a realistic schedule with the quote, and we tell you early if an approval is likely to move it.

Slim LED or edge-lit: which should I choose?

Choose slim direct-lit for anything facing the street or a bright window; it is brighter and handles larger faces. Choose edge-lit when depth is extremely limited and the sign is indoors, such as a reception wall or lift lobby. Many shops use a slim fascia box outside and edge-lit or fabric SEG panels inside.

Can a slim lightbox be fixed to glass or ACP cladding?

Yes, but not by screwing straight into the panel. On ACP we fix through to the subframe or add a backing plate. On glazing we mount to the transom or frame, or fit a hidden support, because drilling glass is rarely allowed and adhesive alone is not enough for an outdoor box.

Do you install slim lightboxes outside Dubai?

Yes. Our crews install across all seven emirates from our Ajman factory, including Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. The site survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and the same team handles later repairs or face changes.
