LED Lightbox Shop Signs in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman

Bayan Signage builds LED lightbox shop signs from the case up in its Ajman factory: aluminium boxes, white light chambers, branded IP65 modules and faces that clip out for service. Lightbox Fascia Signs in the UAE

Lightbox shop signs that stay even, bright and serviceable

A lightbox shop sign is an enclosed aluminium case fixed to the fascia, lit from inside by LED modules, with a translucent acrylic or polycarbonate face carrying the brand, so the whole face or only the lettering glows at night. It is the hard-working sign of UAE high streets: pharmacies, supermarkets, laundries, exchange houses and takeaways on service roads choose it because it lights a large area evenly with few LEDs and can be rebranded with a new face.

A good lightbox and a bad one differ in places the buyer never sees. Box depth and module spacing decide whether the face glows evenly or shows a grid of bright dots. The face retainer decides whether a failed module is a twenty-minute fix or a cut-out face. Drain holes, sealed glands and the driver position decide whether the box is still working in its fourth summer. We fold or extrude every case, lay out every module and test every face in our Ajman factory, so those choices stay in our hands.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, a UAE group with 15 years in the market, and our factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman has been building illuminated signs since 2016. Our own electricians wire the drivers and our installers fit the boxes, so the team that lights your sign is the team that answers for it later.

Our process

How we build lightbox shop signs in our Ajman factory

  1. Survey and depth check

We measure the fascia, confirm the depth the building or landlord allows, check what the box will hang on and locate the nearest power. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Face design and joint plan

Our designers decide whether the whole face or only the name glows, and place any face joint behind a slim T-bar between words. Draftsmen produce the shop drawing for fabrication and the permit.

  3. Case fabrication

Cases are cut and folded from aluminium or assembled from extrusions, drilled with drain holes at the base, powder-coated to your RAL colour and painted gloss white inside to bounce light.

  4. LED layout and bench test

Modules are spaced roughly equal to the box depth, wired to drivers sized well above the load, and the finished face is lit on our test bench and checked by eye and phone camera for hot spots.

  5. Face and retainer

Vinyl or print is applied to the opal face in the workshop, then the face is fitted into a clip-in or hinged retainer so it can be removed in minutes for service.

  6. Installation and night check

The crew fixes brackets into concrete or a sub-frame, brings power in through a sealed gland from a reachable isolator, fits the face last and checks the sign at dusk for dark spots.

Expert advice

Advice from our estimating team

Most lightboxes we are asked to repair were not badly made so much as badly specified. These five decisions, taken at the drawing stage, decide how the box looks in year five.

Do not let the box get too shallow

A 60 or 80 mm box looks sleek on a drawing, but light has little room to spread, so it needs modules every 60 to 80 mm to look even. When the budget then trims the LED count, the face shows a pattern of bright dots. A 150 mm box can space modules at about 150 mm and glow evenly with far fewer of them. If the landlord allows the depth, use it.

Use a blockout background for small logos

A bright white rectangle with a small logo in the middle reads as a lamp, not a brand. If the logo fills less than about half the face, ask for a blockout background so the name glows and the rest of the face stays dark or coloured. It costs little, looks more modern and cuts glare into flats above the shop.

Insist on a removable face

Sealing the face in with silicone saves the cost of a retainer profile. It also means the first failed module requires cutting the face out and remaking it. A clip-in or hinged face lets our technician swap a module in twenty minutes. Ask how the face comes off before you approve the drawing.

Plan for condensation and insects

On humid nights condensation forms inside every box. Without drain holes, water pools on the base, corrodes connectors and causes faults that come and go. Gaps around the face let in dust and insects that show as shadows after dark. We drill and screen drain holes, seal the glands and brush-seal the retainer as standard.

Think about the next rebrand now

If you run several branches, standardise one box size and one face build. Later, a rebrand means printing new faces, not rebuilding signs at every branch. Before a reface, though, check the LEDs: a crisp new face over modules that have dimmed unevenly shows every old patch clearly, so we test the box before quoting a face alone.

Pricing

Lightbox shop sign price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We do not publish a price list, because every box is drawn for its fascia. Send your logo, the fascia size and a photo, and we usually return an itemised quote within 24 hours covering box, face, LEDs, installation and permits.

Box size and depth

Larger faces need more aluminium, LEDs and face material. Extra depth costs less than people expect and can reduce the LED count.

Face construction

Vinyl on opal acrylic is the economical standard. Routed aluminium with push-through letters costs more in routing and acrylic but looks far more premium.

Shape

Rectangular boxes use standard profiles. Contour boxes that follow a logo need folded returns, custom faces and more labour.

Single or double-sided

Projecting boxes lit on both faces need two faces and a deeper chamber with modules lighting both sides evenly.

LED and driver quality

Branded modules and drivers with headroom cost more at purchase, but cheaper parts dim unevenly and fail in summer heat.

Mounting and access

Brackets into concrete are quick. Boxes fixed to glass, cladding or high fascias need a frame or a lift.

Approvals

Lightbox shop sign permits in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

A fascia lightbox usually needs approval from Dubai Municipality, Sharjah Municipality, Ajman Municipality or the free-zone authority for your area before it goes up. Some districts, master communities and newer buildings restrict full-face lightboxes, brightness or colour, or allow them only with a blockout background. We check this at the survey so the design is acceptable before you approve it.

Our draftsmen prepare the shop drawing, elevation and lighting details for the submission, and check that the trade name matches your licence in Arabic and English. Projecting lightboxes over a pavement often need extra detail on height and bracket design. Requirements change and differ between locations, so we confirm the current rules for your exact site.

FAQ

Lightbox Fascia Signs questions we are asked most

How much does a lightbox shop sign cost in Dubai?

It depends mainly on the face area, the depth, the face construction and whether the box is single or double-sided. A rectangular full-face box with vinyl on acrylic is the economical end; a push-through or contour box costs more. Send your logo, fascia size and a photo, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How deep should a lightbox shop sign be?

For most fascias, 120 to 200 mm is sensible, and 150 mm suits the majority of ground-floor shops. Deeper boxes spread light more evenly with fewer modules; very slim boxes look elegant but need dense LEDs and run warmer. Malls and some buildings limit depth, so we check that first.

Can I change the design without replacing the whole lightbox?

Usually yes, and that is one of the main reasons to choose one. If the box and LEDs are sound, we make a new face, either fresh vinyl on the existing acrylic or a new sheet, and fit it on site. We test the LEDs first, because a new face shows old dim patches clearly.

Acrylic or polycarbonate face: which is better?

Acrylic gives a crisper, brighter face and is the usual choice above head height. Polycarbonate is far tougher, so it suits low boxes, forecourts and streets where ladders, balls or vans might hit it. Polycarbonate can yellow a little faster in strong sun unless it is UV-protected, so we specify protected sheet.

How much electricity does a lightbox sign use?

Less than most owners expect. A typical 4 m by 1 m LED lightbox draws a few hundred watts, a fraction of an old fluorescent box. The exact figure depends on depth, module type and brightness. A timer that switches the box off after closing saves more than any further LED upgrade.

Why does my old lightbox look patchy at night?

Patchiness usually comes from dead or dimmed modules, dust and insects inside the box, or a faded face. Cheaper modules also dim at different rates in summer heat. Cleaning out the box, replacing weak modules and refacing usually brings it back for much less than a new sign; see our lightbox face replacement service.

Can a lightbox be made in the shape of my logo?

Yes. Contour lightboxes follow the outline of a logo, a circle or a speech bubble. They are folded from aluminium rather than built from standard profiles, so they cost more and take longer, but they make a strong mark, especially as a projecting sign beside a rectangular fascia.

Do you install lightboxes across the UAE?

Yes. Our crews install in all seven emirates from our Ajman factory, including Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. The site survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and we work outside trading hours where the street or landlord requires it.
