Warehouse Aisle & Rack Signs in the UAE

Warehouse aisle signs that match your system

Warehouse aisle signs identify each aisle, rack run and bay so pickers, forklift drivers and visitors find a location without counting. At the top level, a double-sided hanging marker tells a driver on the main route which aisle to turn into; rack end panels repeat the aisle code and show the bay range; beam labels give every pallet position its own code and barcode. We supply all three levels for free-zone logistics buildings, e-commerce fulfilment centres, cold stores and industrial stores.

When the three levels agree, people stop asking where things are. When they disagree, even a disciplined warehouse picks from the wrong bay. The physical side is straightforward: flat ACP that stays straight under a hot roof, matt faces that do not flare under high-bay LED lighting, clamp brackets that fit the upright without drilling. The discipline is in the data, so our draftsmen build every sign and label from one export of your location list and check the codes before anything is printed.

Bayan Signage has produced signs in its own factory in Industrial Area 2, Ajman since 2016, as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE. Printing, laminating and CNC cutting sit under one roof, and our installers are used to working from scissor lifts in live buildings around shift patterns.

Our process

How we make warehouse aisle signs in our Ajman factory

  1. Layout and code format

We take your racking layout and the location format from your warehouse system, then mark every sign position on the drawing. The site visit is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Sightline check on site

We check heights against sprinklers, lighting and mast heights, and hold a sample marker on a lift at the planned height to see it from a driver's seat under the real lighting.

  3. Data proofing

Our draftsmen generate every aisle code, bay range and beam label from one export of your location list, and send a proof list for your operations team to check line by line.

  4. Print, laminate and CNC cut

Signs are printed on our large-format printers, matt laminated and CNC-cut from ACP or PVC foam. Barcode labels are printed in location order and test-scanned before packing.

  5. Installation around operations

Our crew fixes hanging markers to the roof steel and rack panels with profile clamps, closing one aisle at a time with the shift supervisor so picking continues elsewhere.

  6. Scan check and handover

Beam labels go on last and are scanned against the system list. We hand over the artwork files and spare blanks, so future re-slotting keeps to the same scheme.

Specification

Warehouse aisle sign specification

This is our standard for warehouse aisle signs in ambient and air-conditioned buildings. Cold stores and very hot sheds change the materials and adhesives, and we specify for the actual temperature range.

Expert advice

Advice from our warehouse signage team

Warehouse aisle signing pays back in picking accuracy and shorter training time. These are the points that decide whether it does.

Use the system's format exactly

If the sign says A-12 and the warehouse system says 01-12, every picker translates in their head, and translation is where errors creep in. Put the exact location format from your system on every sign and label, including separators and leading zeros. We build all levels from one export, so they cannot drift apart over time.

Size codes at about 10 mm per metre

A short aisle code is recognised rather than read, so it works smaller than a sentence would. We start at roughly 10 mm of character height per metre of viewing distance: about 300 mm for 30 m along a main route, and 450 to 600 mm for 50 m sightlines in large distribution centres. Two or three characters read much faster than five.

Mount rack panels above the forks

Rack end panels at 1.5 m are hit by pallets and forks within weeks. Mount them above about 2.5 m, or protect lower signs with a guard. Never drill uprights to fix a sign, because drilling can affect the racking's rated capacity and the supplier's warranty. Clamp brackets made for the upright profile do the job without that risk.

Test the finish under your lights

Under high-bay LED lighting, a glossy white face can flare from some angles and become unreadable from a forklift seat. Hold a sample at the planned height from a lift before ordering the full run. A matt laminate usually solves the problem, and choosing it now is far cheaper than relaminating fifty markers later.

Colour the zones, but not red against green

Colour-coding zones helps temporary staff find their way before they can read a code. Keep to a few clearly different colours, repeat each one on the hanging marker, the rack ends and the column signs, and avoid relying on red against green alone, since a noticeable share of people find those two hard to tell apart.

Pricing

Warehouse aisle sign price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote from the layout drawing and the number of locations. Send us the racking layout, the location code format, the clear height and your operating hours, and we will return an itemised quotation, usually within 24 hours, separating signs, labels, hardware and installation.

Number of aisles and locations

Cost scales with aisles, rack ends and beam positions. Large schemes cost less per sign because artwork and setup are shared across the set.

Working at height

Hanging markers in a high-bay building need scissor or boom lifts, sometimes out of hours. Access can cost more than the signs themselves.

Mounting hardware

Rack clamps, stainless wire, chain kits and anti-sway fixings vary in cost, and markers near dock doors or fans need firmer restraint.

Material and temperature

PVC foam is economical indoors, while ACP is flatter and longer lasting. Reflective vinyl, cold-store adhesives and magnetic backings add cost.

Variable data

Barcoded labels with sequential codes need data preparation, proof lists and checking against your system before printing.

Phasing

Installing aisle by aisle around live operations takes longer than fitting an empty building before go-live, when lifts can work anywhere.

Approvals

Warehouse aisle signs, fire safety and landlord rules

Warehouse aisle signs rarely need an authority permit, but they must respect fire safety. Hanging markers must not obstruct sprinkler heads, smoke detectors or emergency lighting, and those clearances follow Dubai Civil Defence requirements and the building's fire consultant. We confirm every hanging position against the sprinkler and lighting layout with your facility team before fixing.

Warehouses in free zones such as JAFZA and in leased logistics parks often need landlord or authority consent before anything is fixed to the roof structure, and racking suppliers usually need to approve any fixing to their uprights. We check what consent your building needs before clamping or drilling anything overhead, because the requirements vary from site to site.

FAQ

Warehouse Aisle & Rack Signs questions we are asked most

How much do warehouse aisle signs cost in Dubai?

It depends on the number of aisles, rack ends and beam locations, the materials, the mounting hardware and how much of the work is at height. A small store with ten aisles and shelf-end signs costs a fraction of a high-bay distribution centre with hanging markers and barcoded beam labels. Send us the layout and code format, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How high should hanging aisle signs be?

Usually above the tallest load, mast or racking in that zone, and clear of sprinklers and lighting. In high-bay warehouses that often means 6 to 10 m. The aim is a clear line of sight from the main route over parked equipment. We check heights on site from both standing and forklift-seat positions.

Can rack signs be fitted without drilling the racking?

Yes, and that is our default. We use clamp brackets or magnetic fixings designed for the upright or beam profile. Drilling uprights can affect the racking's rating and the supplier's warranty, so any drilled fixing should be approved by the racking supplier first and recorded in the inspection file.

What material is best for warehouse aisle signs?

ACP of 3 to 4 mm is our usual choice for hanging and rack end signs, because it stays flat in heat and lasts. PVC foam works in air-conditioned buildings on a tighter budget. Cold stores need matt finishes and low-temperature adhesives or mechanical fixings chosen for the temperature range.

Should we colour-code warehouse aisles?

Colour-coding helps in large or busy buildings, especially with temporary staff at peak season. Each zone gets a colour repeated on hanging markers, rack ends and sometimes wall or column signs at the zone entrance. Keep to a few clearly different colours, and do not rely on red against green alone.

Do you make rack load notices?

Yes, as rigid printed panels for the end of each rack run. The safe working load figures must come from the racking supplier or a qualified inspector, not from us. We print exactly what is supplied and lay it out so beam levels and loads are easy to read.

Can you install signs while the warehouse is operating?

Yes. We usually work aisle by aisle, coordinate with the shift supervisor and close one aisle at a time while lifts are in use. Night or weekend work is possible where daytime traffic is too heavy. Installing before go-live is faster and cheaper if you have that option.

How do warehouse aisle signs relate to barcode location labels?

They are two levels of the same address system. Aisle and rack end signs help people navigate, while beam labels identify each location for scanning. The codes on both must match your warehouse system exactly, which is why we produce both from the same data.
