PPE Requirement Signs in the UAE

PPE signs that match your risk assessment

PPE signs are mandatory safety signs that tell people which personal protective equipment they must wear beyond a point: hard hat, safety footwear, high-visibility vest, eye, ear, hand or respiratory protection. Under ISO 7010 they show a white symbol on a blue circle, usually with a short Arabic and English caption. HSE managers, main contractors, factory and warehouse operators, food producers and school lab managers in the UAE use them as single signs and as combined zone boards.

The quality of a PPE scheme is decided by the matrix, not the printer. A gate board copied from another project often lists kit that is not issued or misses a hazard on this site, and a board with twelve symbols is simply not read. We start from your risk assessment, split requirements by zone, keep each board to the PPE that genuinely applies and use the same symbol order on every board, so staff learn where to look.

Bayan Signage has manufactured signs in its Ajman factory since 2016 as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE market. Boards are printed with UV-resistant inks on our own large-format machines, cut on CNC routers from ACP, aluminium or PVC, and installed by crews used to site inductions and live industrial areas. Many of our 500+ clients order PPE boards together with their site and building signage.

Our process

How we produce PPE signs in our Ajman factory

  1. PPE matrix and site plan

We start from your risk assessment or PPE matrix and a site or floor plan. Each entry point is marked with its zone, the PPE required and the languages your workforce reads.

  2. Board layout

Our designers lay out each board with a blue header band, a grid of equal-sized symbols in a fixed head-to-toe order and bilingual captions, then send a board schedule for your HSE lead to approve.

  3. Printing and laminating

Boards are printed on our large-format machines with UV-resistant inks and laminated for outdoor and dusty areas, so the safety blue and white symbols hold their contrast.

  4. Cutting and assembly

Panels are CNC-routed from ACP, aluminium or rigid PVC with radiused corners. Gate boards get rear stiffening and post brackets; changeable boards get magnetic or slot-in symbol tiles.

  5. Check against the matrix

Every board is checked line by line against the approved matrix for symbols, captions and zone names before dispatch, because one wrong symbol undermines the whole scheme.

  6. Installation at the threshold

Our crew fixes boards outside each door or gate at eye level, using banding on steel columns, through-fixings into hoarding frames and footings or heavy bases for posts.

Expert advice

Advice from our HSE signage team

PPE boards only work if people read them every time they pass. These are the habits we build into every scheme.

Six symbols or fewer per board

A gate board with twelve symbols looks thorough and is ignored by the end of the first week. Put the site baseline on the gate board, usually helmet, boots and vest, and add zone boards only where extra protection applies, such as ear defenders at the compressor room or face shields at the metal cutting bay. Six symbols or fewer per board is our working limit.

Mount before the threshold

A hearing protection sign inside a noisy plant room tells people to protect their ears after they are already exposed. Fix the board outside the door, at the gate or at the edge of the zone, where someone can still stop. Ideally it sits beside a PPE station or hooks, so the instruction and the equipment are in the same place.

Keep one order on every board

We lay out boards in the same head-to-toe order every time: helmet, eyes, ears, mask, body, hands, feet. Staff moving between zones quickly learn that the third position is always hearing protection, and notice when it is absent. Random symbol order forces people to read every board from scratch, and most of them simply stop.

Do not mix blue and yellow

Blue circles mean you must do something; yellow triangles warn of a hazard. Using yellow for PPE instructions, or blue for hazards, blurs two messages people rely on reading instantly. Where both apply, such as at a chemical store, we put the yellow warning and the blue PPE board side by side as separate signs.

Check changeable boards weekly

Magnetic and slot-in symbol tiles are ideal for shutdowns and construction phases, but tiles get moved, borrowed or lost. Add the boards to the weekly HSE walk, and review every board, fixed or changeable, whenever the risk assessment changes, so a sign never asks for the wrong equipment or leaves out a new hazard.

Pricing

PPE signs price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote PPE signage from your matrix and site plan. Send the zones, entry points, exposure and languages needed, and you will usually receive an itemised quote within 24 hours.

Board size and quantity

Small single signs are inexpensive in volume. Large gate boards need heavier panels and posts, and the number of zones drives how many custom boards are needed.

Custom layouts

Each zone board with its own symbol selection, header wording and extra language needs separate artwork and checking against the matrix.

Outdoor durability

Boards facing the sun need UV-resistant inks, laminate and stiffened panels. Indoor PVC boards cost considerably less.

Changeable systems

Magnetic or slot-in symbol tiles cost more up front than a fixed print, but avoid reprinting every time a zone or phase changes.

Installation method

Fixing to an existing wall is quick. Posts, hoarding frames and high steel columns need more time, equipment and often site inductions.

Approvals

ISO 7010 and HSE standards for PPE signs in the UAE

PPE signs in the UAE normally follow the ISO 7010 mandatory sign set, with bilingual Arabic and English captions. On top of that, main contractors, free-zone authorities, industrial park operators and many clients publish their own HSE signage standards covering board formats, colours and content, and these are often checked during site audits by the client or the relevant authority.

Your risk assessment and PPE matrix decide what each board says; we produce to them and flag anything that looks inconsistent, such as a zone with a hazard but no matching PPE. Outdoor gate boards inside a master community or free zone may also need approval as freestanding signs. Requirements differ between sites and clients, so we confirm the current standard for your project before printing.

Why Bayan Signage

Why businesses choose Bayan Signage for PPE signs

Built from your PPE matrix

Every board is laid out from your risk assessment and checked line by line against it, never copied from another site's template.

Made in our Ajman factory

Printing, laminating and CNC cutting of PVC, ACP and aluminium happen in-house, so additional zones and late changes are quick to produce.

Boards that survive site conditions

UV-resistant inks, laminate and stiffened outdoor panels keep the blue and white legible through sun, dust and workshop degreasers.

Workforce languages handled

Arabic and English are standard, and our team adds the languages your workforce reads, keeping symbols large so they carry the meaning.

Crews used to live sites

Our installers complete site inductions, follow HSE rules and fix boards on columns, hoarding and posts across all seven emirates.

One coordinated safety set

PPE, warning, fire, exit and assembly point signs can be produced as one schedule, so colours, sizes and wording match across the site.

FAQ

PPE Requirement Signs questions we are asked most

How much do PPE signs cost in Dubai?

It depends on the number of signs and boards, their size, indoor or outdoor materials, changeable systems and installation. A set of indoor door signs costs far less than stiffened gate boards on posts. Send us your PPE matrix and site plan, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

What colour are PPE signs?

PPE signs are mandatory signs, so they use a white symbol on a blue circle under ISO 7010, with any text in a separate panel. Blue is reserved for things people must do, which keeps PPE instructions distinct from yellow warnings, red prohibition and fire signs, and green safe condition signs.

Can I put all PPE requirements on one board?

Yes, a combined board is often clearest at a site gate or zone entrance. Keep it to the PPE genuinely required in that area, ideally six symbols or fewer, and use separate zone boards for extra protection in specific rooms. Overloaded boards tend to be ignored.

What size should a PPE sign be?

It depends on reading distance. A single sign on a door or machine is often 200 x 300 mm. A zone entry board is commonly around A2, with symbols of about 120 mm. A construction gate board read from vehicles or from 10 to 15 m is usually 1200 x 1800 mm or larger, with symbols of 250 mm or more.

Do PPE signs need Arabic text?

Bilingual Arabic and English text is normally expected on safety signs in the UAE, and many sites add the main languages of their workforce. The symbol carries the core meaning, so captions should be short. We check the Arabic carefully, because mandatory wording must read as an instruction.

Can PPE boards change as the site changes?

Yes. Changeable boards use magnetic or slot-in symbol tiles on a fixed printed background, so your HSE team can add face shields during a shutdown or remove ear protection when a generator moves. They need a weekly check, but they save reprinting for every phase.

How long do PPE boards last outdoors?

Indoor boards usually last eight to ten years. Outdoor gate boards in full sun may need reprinting after two to four years unless they are UV-protected and laminated, which is why we recommend both for any board facing the sun on a long project.

Do you install PPE signs outside Dubai?

Yes. We manufacture in Ajman and install PPE signs and boards on sites in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, completing site inductions where required.
