Emergency Assembly Point Signs in the UAE

Assembly point signs built to stand outdoors for years

An assembly point sign marks the place where people gather after leaving a building, so fire wardens can count heads and tell the fire service who is missing. It is the last sign in the escape chain, and unlike the signs indoors it lives in the open: on a post in a car park, a landscaped verge or the edge of a site road. HSE managers, facility teams, school operators, contractors and compound managers across the UAE order them for new sites and audits.

An outdoor safety sign is judged after its third summer, not on installation day. Green is one of the first safety colours to fade under UAE sun, large panels flex and rotate on their posts in shamal winds, and shallow footings lean on sandy plots. We protect the face with UV-resistant inks and laminate or coloured reflective vinyl, stiffen larger panels at the back, clamp them to galvanised posts and set the posts in concrete footings sized for the ground.

Bayan Signage has manufactured signs in its Ajman factory since 2016 as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE market. Printing, laser cutting, CNC routing, powder coating and steel work all happen under one roof, and the crew that builds your signs installs them. Because they are outdoor signs, our assembly point signs carry a 5-year warranty on structure and powder coat, documented at handover.

Our process

How we make assembly point signs in our Ajman factory

  1. Location agreed with your HSE lead

Your fire consultant or HSE lead approves each point. At our free survey in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman we check sight lines from every exit, ground type and buried services, and flag points placed in fire access routes.

  2. Panel artwork and numbering

Our draftsmen set the ISO 7010 symbol, the Arabic and English legend and a point number of 150 mm or more, matching the numbering on your evacuation plans and warden roll-call sheets.

  3. Face printing and panel cutting

Faces are printed with UV-resistant inks and laminated, or cut from reflective vinyl, then applied to aluminium or ACP panels CNC-routed with radiused corners. Larger panels get riveted rear stiffening channels.

  4. Posts and finishing

Galvanised steel posts are cut to height, capped and powder-coated where specified. Clamps are fitted so the panel fixes to the post without drilling through the face.

  5. Inspection before dispatch

Each sign is checked against the approved artwork for symbol, legend, number and colour, and the panel is test-fitted to its post and clamps before it leaves the factory.

  6. Footings and installation

Posts are set plumb in concrete footings, typically 600 to 800 mm deep, or on base plates anchored to existing slab. Panels are clamped once concrete cures, then photographed for your HSE file.

Expert advice

Advice from our outdoor safety signage team

Assembly signs are seen every day and needed perhaps once a year. These are the points that decide whether they work on that day.

Size for the furthest building

Assembly point signs are read from further away than almost any other safety sign. For points seen from 30 to 50 m, we recommend at least a 600 x 900 mm panel with a symbol about 400 to 500 mm high. On industrial plots where staff walk 100 m or more from the furthest shed, a 900 x 1200 mm panel on twin posts is far easier to find under stress.

Clear the roof of an SUV

Height is set by what stands in front of the sign. In a car park the bottom edge should clear the roof line of a parked SUV, so around 2 m or a little more. On a landscaped verge with low planting, 1.5 m may be enough. Go double-sided whenever people will arrive from more than one building or direction.

Number every point and match the plans

On sites with more than one assembly point, unnumbered signs leave wardens shouting across car parks. Numbering AP1, AP2 and so on ties the sign to the evacuation plan in each building and to the roll-call sheet. We also add a small plate on the post with the point number, the building it serves and the install date for audits.

Do not let convenience choose the spot

We often see points placed right beside the main entrance or in the path of the fire access road, which puts people under falling glass and in the way of fire engines. The location is your fire consultant's or HSE lead's decision. We will raise concerns at the survey, but we do not pour a footing until you have approved each point.

Dig deeper on sand

A post in a shallow hole or bolted into thin interlock paving leans after its first windy season, and a leaning safety sign looks neglected. In normal ground we use footings of around 400 x 400 mm and 600 to 800 mm deep; sandy plots and exposed coastal sites go deeper. Always check for buried services before digging in a car park.

Pricing

Assembly point sign price in the UAE: what affects the cost

We quote each assembly point from its panel, post and foundation. Send a site plan with the approved locations, ground type and the number of points, and you will usually receive an itemised quote within 24 hours.

Panel size and sides

Larger panels need thicker aluminium, rear stiffening and heavier posts. Double-sided faces double the graphics while the post and footing stay the same.

Face material

Laminated print is economical. Reflective vinyl adds cost, and higher-intensity grades more again, but they make the sign visible in headlights.

Foundation type

A concrete footing in soft ground costs more than a base plate on existing slab, and breaking interlock or asphalt adds reinstatement work.

Number of points

Several points benefit from batch fabrication, but each one still needs its own post, footing and installation time.

Site access and inductions

Live car parks, schools during term and sites with gate passes and HSE inductions take longer to arrange, which is reflected in the installation line.

Approvals

Assembly point sign approvals and standards in the UAE

Assembly point locations form part of the building's evacuation strategy, which Dubai Civil Defence and the other emirates' civil defence authorities expect to see in the fire and life safety documentation. The sign itself normally follows ISO 7010, with Arabic and English text. Main contractors, free-zone authorities and industrial park operators often set their own HSE signage standards as well.

Freestanding signs inside a master community, free zone or industrial authority area, particularly near roads, may need the developer's or authority's approval before installation. On labour accommodation and construction sites, operators often add other workforce languages on a supplementary panel. Requirements vary by site, so we confirm what applies to your location before we set out any foundation.

Why Bayan Signage

Why businesses choose Bayan Signage for assembly point signs

5-year outdoor warranty

Our assembly point signs are outdoor signs, so they are covered for 5 years on structure and powder coat, with a warranty document at handover.

Made and installed by one team

Faces, panels and posts are produced in our Ajman factory, and the crew that builds the signs digs the footings and fixes them on site.

Colour that lasts in the sun

UV-resistant inks with laminate or coloured reflective vinyl keep the safety green recognisable long after unprotected prints have turned pale.

Footings sized for the ground

We check soil, paving and buried services at the survey and size each footing or base plate for the site, so posts stay plumb.

Numbered to your evacuation plan

Point numbers, building references and Arabic and English legends are drawn by our draftsmen to match the plans inside each building.

Installed across all seven emirates

From Ajman we install on industrial plots, campuses, compounds and construction sites across the UAE, with site inductions and HSE rules followed.

FAQ

Emergency Assembly Point Signs questions we are asked most

How much does an assembly point sign cost in the UAE?

It depends on panel size, single or double-sided faces, reflective material, post type and the foundation. A wall-mounted sign costs far less than a twin-post reflective board in concrete footings. Send us a site plan with the approved locations and ground type, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How far should an assembly point be from the building?

Far enough to be safe from heat, smoke and falling debris, and clear of fire service access routes. Practical distances vary with building height and site layout, so your fire consultant or HSE lead normally sets the location. We advise on visibility and installation, but the sign follows the safety decision.

What size should an assembly point sign be?

For most car parks and compounds, 600 x 900 mm is a good starting point. Small sites with short distances can use 450 x 600 mm, while large industrial plots, campuses and construction sites often need 900 x 1200 mm. The deciding factor is how far away people are when they first need to spot it.

Do assembly point signs need to be reflective?

Not always, but it helps. Evacuations can happen at night or in smoke, and reflective faces pick up torches and vehicle headlights. In a well-lit compound a laminated print may be enough. On dark industrial plots, schools with early drills and construction sites, we normally recommend reflective vinyl.

Can the sign be fixed to a wall instead of a post?

Yes, if the wall is in the right place and the sign stays visible. Wall mounting avoids foundations and suits tight urban plots. The risk is that parked cars or stored goods block it, so we check sight lines and usually mount it higher than a post sign would be.

How long does an assembly point sign last?

A galvanised post and aluminium panel usually last ten years or more. The face may need replacing after five to eight years in full sun if it is not reflective or laminated. Our outdoor assembly signs carry a 5-year warranty on structure and powder coat.

How long does installation take?

Usually a few hours per point, plus curing time for the concrete. We set the posts in their footings, leave them braced, and return to fix the panels once the concrete has cured. Base plate installations on existing slab or thick paving can normally be finished in a single visit.

Can you add languages other than Arabic and English?

Yes. Arabic and English are standard, and a supplementary panel can carry other languages used by the workforce, which is common on labour accommodation and large construction sites. The symbol stays the same, with extra languages in smaller type below so the sign keeps its recognisable shape.
