FAQQR & Barcode Asset Labels questions we are asked most
How much do asset tags cost in Dubai?
It depends on quantity, material, numbering, variable data, size, fixing and whether we tag on site. Polyester labels in a long sequential run cost far less per piece than stainless tags riveted to rooftop plant. Send your asset count by type and the code format, and we will return an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.
Should we use QR codes or barcodes?
Use whatever your asset system and scanners are designed for. QR and Data Matrix codes hold more in less space and suit phone apps, which most modern CAFM systems use. Code 128 barcodes suit traditional handheld scanners. We test samples on your devices before production either way.
What size should a QR code be on an asset tag?
For a short asset number scanned by phone at close range, around 12 to 15 mm square is usually the minimum. If people scan from further away, or wearing gloves in a plant room, 25 to 40 mm is safer. A clear margin around the code matters as much as its size.
Which material should we choose for asset labels?
Laminated polyester for most indoor equipment and furniture, destructible vinyl where tamper evidence matters, and laser-engraved anodised aluminium or stainless steel for plant rooms, rooftops, vehicles and coastal sites, where an engraved code outlasts any print. Most registers mix two or three materials, so each asset gets a tag suited to where it lives.
Can you print our own asset numbers from a spreadsheet?
Yes. We print from your data file, or generate sequential numbers with prefixes and site codes. Every code on the proof sheet is scanned against the data before the run is released, and tags are packed in sequence by building or floor.
Can you tag assets on site and build the register?
Yes. Our team applies tags in agreed positions for each asset type and scans each one in place, giving you a list of tag numbers by location to load into your system. This is common at new building handovers and large audits across Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates.
Are tamper-evident labels worth the extra cost?
For portable, valuable items such as laptops, tablets and phones, usually yes, because removal leaves visible damage. For fixed plant and furniture, durability matters more than tamper evidence, so polyester or metal tags are the better spend.
How long do asset tags last?
Laminated polyester tags typically last several years indoors, while anodised aluminium and stainless tags can last the life of the asset. Heat, UV, strong cleaning chemicals and poor surface preparation shorten life, which is why we choose material and adhesive per location rather than one tag for everything.
