Cable Labels and Cable Tags in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman

Bayan Signage produces cable labels for switch rooms, data centres, BMS panels and underground routes across the UAE. We print from your approved cable schedule, test each label type on the real cable sizes before the full run, and pack every set by board, rack or route so the electrical contractor can fit them during termination.

Cable Identification Labels in the UAE

Cable labels that match the schedule and the drawings

Cable labels give every cable and core a unique identity that matches the cable schedule, so an electrician can find the other end without lifting ceiling tiles. A single tower can hold thousands of them: armoured feeders between the main switchboard and sub-main boards, control cables in a BMS panel, copper and fibre runs between racks. Our clients are electrical and ELV contractors preparing for testing and handover, data centre operators managing moves and changes, and facility teams relabelling older installations in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

Most cable labelling failures have nothing to do with print quality. The label was fitted inside the gland and disappeared, a heat-shrink sleeve was too loose for the core, a nylon tie went brittle on a rooftop tray, or the text came from a superseded schedule revision. We control those points in production: we wrap or shrink sample labels on the actual cable diameters listed, note the schedule revision on the label file and check each set against it before it leaves our Ajman factory.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE for 15 years, and our factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman, has been running since 2016. Cable labels sit inside a wider identification package we produce in-house, alongside DB labels, valve tags and asset tags, so the board reference on a cable tag reads exactly as it does on the board itself.

Our process

How we produce cable labels in our Ajman factory

  1. Schedule and format review

We check the cable schedule for duplicate IDs, missing ends and text too long for the label, and agree the format with your consultant or ELV lead before any printing starts.

  2. Sample on real cable

We print a short run of each label type and fit it to the actual cable diameters on the schedule. Loose sleeves and short wrap tails show up here, not on site.

  3. Approval set

A sample card with every label type, size and text format goes to the consultant for sign-off, with the schedule revision noted so later changes are traceable.

  4. Production and marking

Labels are printed and laminated, aluminium tags are UV-printed, and laminate and stainless tags are engraved or laser-cut in our factory. Each sequence follows the schedule order so the site team can work cable by cable.

  5. Check and pack

Every set is checked against the schedule, then bagged and labelled by board, rack or route. Spares for each format are packed separately for late additions.

  6. Fitting and record

Our team, or your electricians, fit labels during termination. Where we fit them, we return a record of labelled cables to support testing and the as-built file.

Expert advice

Advice from our electrical labelling team

Cable identification goes wrong in predictable ways. These are the points we raise before a schedule goes into production.

Label before you terminate

Heat-shrink sleeves have to go on before the core is terminated, and wrap labels are far quicker on a cable lying loose than on one dressed into a tray. Labelling after termination can take several times the labour. If your programme allows, have the labels on site before termination starts; we can deliver in batches that follow the termination sequence board by board.

Leave the label visible after dressing

A label fixed hard against the gland is hidden once the cable is glanded, and one fixed inside trunking is hidden once the lid goes on. We advise fitting labels roughly 50 to 100 mm back from the termination, on the side facing the panel door, so a technician reads it without touching the cable.

Let the longest ID size the label

One long cable reference, with origin, destination and circuit, decides the label width for the whole run. We scan the schedule for the longest entry first. If it forces an oversized label, we suggest a shorter coding convention to the consultant before printing, which is far cheaper than two label sizes on one board.

Ban nylon ties in hot places

Standard nylon ties on a rooftop tray or in an unventilated plant room become brittle after a couple of UAE summers and drop their tags. Anywhere a label sees sun or high ambient temperature, we specify stainless ties with stainless or printed aluminium tags. The extra cost per tag is small next to relabelling a roof.

Agree one format across all contractors

Large UAE projects often have separate power, ELV, data and specialist contractors. Without an agreed format, one riser ends up with three label styles. We prepare a single format sheet with sizes, fonts and coding, and can supply every package from it.

Pricing

Cable labels price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We price from your cable schedule and specification. Send the schedule as a spreadsheet, the label types required and whether we fit or supply only, and we return an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Quantity and variety

Thousands of identical wrap labels are efficient. Many label types and sizes across one project add set-up, sampling and checking time.

Label type

Wrap labels are the most economical per piece. Heat-shrink sleeves, engraved laminate tags, printed aluminium and engraved stainless tags cost more but survive heat, handling and burial.

Data preparation

A clean schedule in a spreadsheet goes straight to print. Extracting cable IDs from drawings or site tracing adds preparation time.

Text length

Long references with origin, destination and circuit need wider labels or two lines, which affects both material and fit.

Installation timing

Fitting during termination is quick. Labelling existing cables in packed trays and panels takes much more labour per cable.

Environment

Outdoor, rooftop, trench and chemical areas need stainless ties and tougher materials than standard indoor labels.

Approvals

Cable label requirements on UAE projects

Cable identification is normally set by the electrical specification and the consultant's label schedule, and it is checked during testing, inspection and handover. Expectations from the electricity authority and the utility interface vary by emirate and project type, so labels on incoming supplies and main switch rooms may need a particular format. We confirm the current requirement with your electrical consultant before production.

Structured cabling usually follows the client's own labelling scheme or a recognised administration standard named in the specification. In data centres and critical facilities, labels form part of change control and auditors may check them. We follow the scheme you give us and keep cable, port and rack labels in one file so numbering stays consistent.

Why Bayan Signage

Why contractors choose Bayan Signage for cable labels

Tested on your cable sizes

Sample labels are fitted to the actual diameters on the schedule before production, so sleeves grip and wrap tails overlap as they should.

Made in our own factory

Printing, laminating, engraving, laser cutting and checking happen in Ajman, with no outsourcing of fabrication, and you are welcome to visit during production.

Packed by board and route

Sequenced bags labelled by panel, rack or route mean the site team never sorts loose sheets in a switch room.

One identification package

Cable labels, DB labels, valve tags and asset tags come from one data set and one project manager.

Fitting crews available

Our installers can label during termination or relabel existing installations across all seven emirates, and return a record of what was done.

Clear, itemised quotes

Materials, printing, fitting and access are listed separately, usually within 24 hours of receiving your schedule.

FAQ

Cable Identification Labels questions we are asked most

How much do cable labels cost in Dubai?

The price depends on quantity, the mix of label types, text length, data preparation, whether labels go on during termination and the environment along the route. Wrap labels for data cables cost far less per piece than stainless tags for armoured feeders. Send the cable schedule and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Should cables be labelled at both ends?

Yes, in almost every case. A cable labelled only at the panel still has to be traced at the device end. Many specifications also ask for labels at intervals along trays, at wall and floor penetrations, and at pits and joints on underground routes, so long cables can be identified anywhere along their length.

Are heat-shrink labels better than wrap-around labels?

Heat-shrink sleeves are more durable and cannot slide off, but they must be fitted before the cable or core is terminated. Wrap-around labels are easier on cables already installed and are standard for data. Many projects use both: sleeves on control cores and wrap labels on data and small power.

Can you print labels directly from our cable schedule?

Yes. Send the approved schedule in a spreadsheet and we print the labels in sequence, packed by board, rack or route. We send a sample card first to confirm size, text format and material, which avoids reprinting thousands of labels for a single formatting change.

What labels should we use on underground cables?

Armoured cables in trenches and ducts are usually tagged with engraved or laser-cut stainless steel or UV-printed aluminium tags on stainless ties, at entry and exit points, joints and pits. Adhesive labels tend to detach underground. Tags should be readable without disturbing the cable, which helps future excavation crews identify live cables safely.

Can you relabel cables on an existing building?

Yes, though it takes longer than labelling during installation. We work with your electrician or facility team to trace and confirm IDs, then fit wrap labels or tags. We strongly suggest updating the cable schedule at the same time, because accurate records matter as much as the labels.

Do you supply labels for fibre and patch panels?

Yes. We supply wrap and flag labels for copper and fibre cables, along with patch panel and rack labels, produced from one file so cable and port numbering use identical logic. The format normally follows your structured cabling scheme or the specification.

How long do cable labels last?

Good laminated and heat-shrink labels indoors usually last as long as the installation. Heat, UV, nylon ties on rooftops and modifications made without relabelling are what cause failures. Choosing the right label and tie for each location, and keeping the label file for later additions, keeps the system readable.
