Loading Dock Signs & Bay Signs in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Bayan Signage makes loading dock signs that get a tired driver from the gate to the right door and stop the truck in the right place. We fabricate reflective door numbers, yard direction signs and driver instruction panels in our Ajman factory, apply hazard marking on site, and give permanent outdoor yard signs a 5-year warranty on structure and powder coat.

Loading Bay & Dock Signs in the UAE

Loading dock signs for the yard, the door and the dock floor

Loading dock signs guide drivers and dock staff through the busiest and most dangerous part of a logistics building: large reflective door numbers readable across the yard, direction signs separating inbound, outbound and waiting traffic, driver instruction panels at each door, matching internal door numbers and hazard marking on bumpers, columns and dock edges. We make them for regional distribution centres, shared logistics parks, cold chain warehouses, retail service yards and small industrial units.

Loading dock signage works for two audiences at once. Outside, it is read from a cab at night, through low sun in the morning and under headlights after dark, so reflective sheeting and big plain digits matter more than colour. Inside, it is read on foot at close range and is mostly about procedure. Both must use exactly the same door numbers, which sounds obvious and is often wrong. We take the numbering from your warehouse system and check it on site before a single panel is cut.

Bayan Signage has fabricated signs in its own factory at Alam Square, Ajman since 2016, as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE. Aluminium cutting, reflective sheeting, post welding and powder coating all happen in-house, and our installation crews are used to working from boom lifts on live yards around arrival schedules.

Our process

How we deliver loading dock signs from our Ajman factory

  1. Yard walk from the gate

We follow the route a truck takes from gate to dock with your operations or HSE lead, and photograph the doors from cab height at the far side of the apron. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Numbering and layout

Our draftsmen take door numbers from your warehouse system, set number heights from the furthest line-up point, and lay out driver panels from your site rules with pictograms and short bilingual text.

  3. Panels and reflective sheeting

Aluminium panels are CNC-cut, faced with reflective sheeting and lettered with plain bold digits, then checked with a torch for even brightness before packing.

  4. Posts, brackets and powder coat

Yard sign posts and the brackets for canopy or cladding mounting are cut, welded and powder-coated in our metal shop, sized to each panel and fixing surface.

  5. Door-by-door installation

Our crew fixes door numbers level across the whole elevation from a boom lift, sets yard posts clear of drainage lines, and works door by door so the dock keeps running.

  6. Hazard marking and night check

Chevron vinyl goes on bumpers, jambs and columns, and reflective chevron panels are fixed at kerb ends and door frames where agreed. We then check the yard after dark from a cab before handover.

Expert advice

Advice from our dock signage team

Most loading dock sign mistakes are visible only from a truck cab at night. These are the checks we make on every yard.

Size door numbers from the turning point

Drivers read door numbers while lining up to reverse, often 40 to 80 m away across a wide apron. As a rough guide, 600 mm digits read well from about 40 to 50 m, and 900 mm to 1 m digits suit larger yards. Use plain bold numerals and leave a clear margin around each number, so doors 1 and 2 are never read as 12.

Look for the canopy shadow

A door number fixed just under a canopy can lose its lower third to shadow for half the day, and no elevation drawing will show it. We photograph the doors from cab height on the survey and raise or enlarge the numbers accordingly. The same photograph shows which floodlights will glare off a glossy face at night.

Number once, use it everywhere

If the driver sees door 12 and the dock team calls it door 7, trucks wait in the wrong place. Take the numbering from the warehouse system and apply it outside, inside and on the gate directory. In multi-tenant parks, prefix with the unit code, for example B2-04, so drivers find the right building as well as the right door.

Mark the waiting area as clearly as the doors

Without a signed and marked waiting bay, drivers park at the dock front and block other doors. A clear, post-mounted waiting area sign at the bay is one of the cheapest fixes in any yard. For reefer trucks that must keep engines running, the site's rules on where they wait belong on the same panel.

Put chevrons where tyres cannot reach

Chevron vinyl is tidy and quick on vertical bumpers, jambs and columns, at a height where tyres and pallets do not scrub it. Where a kerb end or column base takes regular knocks, a reflective chevron panel on aluminium lasts longer than film and catches headlights at night. Replace vinyl as soon as it tears, because a ragged strip looks like neglect and stops doing its job.

Pricing

Loading dock sign price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We price loading dock schemes from the number of doors and the yard layout. Send us the site plan, the door numbering, your operating hours and a few photos of the dock elevation, and we will return an itemised quotation, usually within 24 hours, separating signs, posts, hazard marking and installation.

Number of doors

Each door usually needs an external number, an internal number and an instruction panel, so a forty-door centre is a very different job from a three-door store.

Reflective grade

Higher grades are brighter at night but cost more. Many sites use high intensity only for door numbers and the gate, and engineering grade elsewhere.

Mounting height and access

Door numbers above canopies need boom lifts, and a live yard may need traffic control or night work, which adds time.

Freestanding posts

Yard signs on posts need footings or base plates, plus care around drainage and buried cables in the apron.

Hazard marking area

Long runs of chevron vinyl on bumpers and columns need clean, dry surfaces and lift access, which may mean working door by door in turns.

Languages and pictograms

Driver panels in several languages need extra layout and translation checks, and larger panels to keep each line readable.

Approvals

Loading dock signs, logistics park rules and approvals

Loading dock and yard signs inside a private plot rarely need a municipal permit, but logistics parks, free zones such as JAFZA and Dubai South, and landlords often have their own sign rules on colours, sizes and where signs may be fixed. Signs at the site boundary or facing a public road may involve RTA or the municipality. We confirm what applies before anything is fixed.

Driver rules on the panels should come from your site safety procedures and risk assessment, and hazard marking should follow your HSE standard. Signs must not block fire hydrants, hose reels or emergency exits, which Dubai Civil Defence requirements and the building's fire consultant protect. Requirements vary by site, so we check the current position with your facility team.

Why Bayan Signage

Why logistics operators choose Bayan Signage for loading dock signs

Made in our own factory

Reflective panels, posts, brackets and powder coat are produced at our Ajman factory, so numbers and posts match across every door. Visits during production are welcome.

Checked from the cab

We survey and sign off from a driver's viewpoint, by day and at night, rather than from an elevation drawing alone.

5-year outdoor warranty

Permanent outdoor yard signs and door number panels are covered for 5 years on structure and powder coat, with a warranty document at handover.

Installed around arrivals

Our crews work door by door around your arrival schedule, at night or early morning where needed, so the dock keeps running.

Itemised quotes in 24 hours

Signs, posts, hazard marking and installation are priced separately, usually within 24 hours, so you can phase the work if you need to.

Installation across the UAE

We install in all seven emirates from Ajman and serve more than 500 clients across the UAE, many of them returning logistics and retail operators.

FAQ

Loading Bay & Dock Signs questions we are asked most

How much do loading dock signs cost in Dubai?

It depends on the number of doors, the reflective grade, the mounting height, how many yard signs need posts and how much hazard marking is required. A three-door unit costs a small fraction of a forty-door distribution centre with a full yard scheme. Send us the site plan and photos, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How big should dock door numbers be?

Typically 600 mm to 1 m high, depending on how far away drivers are when they line up to reverse. As a rough guide, 600 mm numbers read well from about 40 to 50 m. In large yards we size from the furthest turning point, using bold digits with a clear margin around each one.

Do loading dock signs need to be reflective?

For anything a driver reads at night, we strongly recommend it. Reflective sheeting returns headlight light to the driver, so the sign stays readable when yard lighting is poor or a lamp has failed. Inside a covered, well-lit dock, non-reflective printed panels are usually fine and allow more colour freedom.

Can you supply hazard markings for dock bumpers and columns?

Yes. We apply black and yellow chevron vinyl to bumpers, jambs and columns, and make reflective chevron panels on aluminium for kerb ends and column bases that take knocks. We usually recommend vinyl for clean vertical faces and rigid panels wherever trucks or pallets brush past, because a panel survives impacts and reads in headlights.

What should a driver instruction panel say?

It normally covers the site's rules for drivers, such as switching off the engine, applying the handbrake, using wheel chocks, wearing PPE and waiting in the designated area. The rules come from your site safety procedures. We turn them into pictograms with short English and Arabic text, adding other driver languages where needed.

Can you install dock signs without stopping operations?

Usually, yes. We work door by door, coordinate with the shift lead and use lifts only where the area is cleared. Yard signs can go in during quieter hours, often early morning. Painted markings need drying time, so we plan them around door closures agreed in advance.

How should we number doors on a building with several units?

In multi-tenant parks, prefixing door numbers with a unit or building code avoids confusion, for example B2-04. The same code should appear on the gate directory, the yard signs and the door itself. On a new park we can design one scheme so every level of loading dock signage uses the same logic.

Do you make height limit signs for the yard entrance?

Yes. Where a canopy, gantry or bridge limits vehicle height, a clear height restriction sign at the entry, and sometimes a hanging height bar, warns drivers before they commit to the route. The stated height should be measured on site with a sensible margin, which we agree with your facility team.
