School Bus Signs for Campuses in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman

Bayan Signage makes school bus signs for campuses across the UAE from its factory in Ajman: bay numbers drivers can read from the loop entrance, drop-off and bus-only signs for parents, speed limits and route boards. We fabricate on aluminium with reflective sheeting, set posts outside the students' walking line and cover outdoor signs for 5 years.

School Bus Zone Signs in the UAE

School bus signs that follow your transport plan

School bus signs control the part of a campus where vehicles and children share space: the bus loop, the numbered bays, the parent drop-off lane and the crossings between them. The core set is bay numbers that drivers and bus supervisors use to marshal the fleet, bus-only and no-parking signs at the loop entrance, speed limits on internal roads, crossing and waiting-area signs for pedestrians, and route boards listing which bus uses each bay. Principals, transport coordinators and facilities managers usually buy them as one package before a new term.

These signs only work when they follow the school's transport plan. A fixed bay for each route, one-way circulation and clear separation between buses and parents' cars mean drivers arrive at the same place every day and children learn where to stand. Signs cannot fix a layout where buses reverse near students. What our factory controls is visibility and safety: prismatic sheeting for bays read in low light, rounded plates, and posts that never stand between the waiting area and the bus door.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has been in the UAE market for 15 years, and our Ajman factory has made signs since 2016. We cut plates, apply reflective sheeting, fabricate galvanised posts and canopy brackets, and our crews install during holidays or weekends so no bus run is disrupted. Outdoor signs carry our 5-year warranty on finish and structure, and we keep every artwork file for next year's route changes.

Our process

How we deliver school bus signs from our Ajman factory

  1. Bus loop survey at drop-off time

We visit during a morning run to watch buses, parents and students move, then measure the loop, canopies and kerbs. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Sign layout plan

Our draftsmen mark every sign on your site plan, with bay order matched to arrival order, viewing distances, post positions outside walking lines and clearances under canopies.

  3. Plate cutting and sheeting

Aluminium plates are cut, deburred and corner-rounded, then reflective sheeting is applied and graphics are added in Arabic and English. Rear channels stiffen larger signs.

  4. Posts and brackets

Galvanised posts and canopy brackets are cut, welded and powder-coated in-house to the layout plan, with anti-theft fixings on any sign within reach of students.

  5. Quality check after dark

Every bay number is checked against the approved artwork, and a sample is tested with headlights in low light to confirm the sheeting grade before dispatch.

  6. Out-of-hours installation

Our crew installs on weekends or holidays, fixes posts to the positions agreed at survey, clear of irrigation and cables, and hands over a numbered sign plan for your transport team.

Expert advice

Advice from our campus signage team

Bus zone signs are safety signs first. These are the rules of thumb we apply on every campus.

Size bay numbers for the loop entrance

A bus driver reads the bay number while turning into the loop, typically 30 to 60 m away. Using about 25 mm of character height for every 3 m of viewing distance, then going larger for a moving vehicle, gives numerals of 250 to 400 mm. Anything smaller can only be read once the bus has stopped, which defeats the point.

Number bays in arrival order

Bays numbered left to right on a drawing often run against the direction buses arrive, so bus 1 has to pass bays 6 to 2 full of students. We number bays in the order buses reach them and repeat the same number on the sign, the kerb marking and the route board.

Keep posts out of the walking line

A post between the waiting area and the bus door is a collision risk, especially for small children carrying bags and looking at their friends. We set posts back from the kerb, hang bay numbers from canopies where possible, and keep at least 2,100 mm clear under any sign over a walkway.

Make the bus loop unmistakable for parents

When parents see the same style of sign as the buses, they follow the buses. Use a clearly different look for the drop-off lane, put a bus-only sign right at the loop entrance, and support it with cones or a barrier during bus times for the first weeks of term. Habits form quickly once the layout is clear.

Pricing

School bus sign price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We price from your site plan and sign layout, so there is no fixed price list. Send a plan or photos of the loop and your bus count, and we will usually send an itemised quote within 24 hours.

Number of bays and signs

A large fleet means more bay numbers and route strips, though repetition keeps the cost of each identical sign down.

Sheeting grade

High intensity prismatic sheeting costs more than engineering grade, so we match the grade to how critical each sign is.

Mounting method

Canopy-hung signs need custom brackets; freestanding signs need posts and fixed bases. Both differ in material and installation time.

Ground conditions

Hard landscaping, existing slabs, irrigation and buried cables affect where posts can go and how each base is fixed.

Changeable route boards

Slide-in strips and lockable panels add parts compared with fixed signs but save reprinting whole boards every year.

Off-road approvals

Signs on public roads outside the gate may need authority drawings and approval, which adds draftsman time to the job.

Approvals

School bus sign approvals in Dubai and the UAE

Signs entirely inside a private campus usually follow the school's own safety rules and transport plan. School transport itself is regulated, for example by the RTA in Dubai and the Integrated Transport Centre in Abu Dhabi, covering buses, supervisors and boarding practice, and your transport provider will often have its own requirements for bay layout.

Signs on public roads, school-zone warnings on approach roads and anything that affects traffic outside the gate usually need approval from the RTA or the relevant authority in other emirates. Our draftsmen prepare drawings when a submission is needed. Rules vary by location, so we confirm them for your campus before fabrication.

FAQ

School Bus Zone Signs questions we are asked most

How much do school bus signs cost in Dubai?

It depends on the number of bays and signs, the sheeting grade, whether signs hang from canopies or stand on posts, and the ground conditions. A small loop with ten bay numbers costs far less than a full package with route boards, crossings and speed signs. Send a plan or photos for an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

What size should bus bay number signs be?

Most bay number signs use numerals around 250 to 400 mm high on a plate of roughly 600 x 600 mm, larger on wide campuses. Drivers need to read them from 30 to 60 m while turning into the loop, so we size from your actual approach distance.

Do school bus signs need RTA approval?

Signs entirely inside a private campus usually follow the school's own rules. Signs on public roads, school-zone warnings on approach roads and anything that affects traffic outside the gate may need approval from the RTA in Dubai or the relevant authority elsewhere. We confirm what applies before fabrication.

Which reflective sheeting should we choose?

Engineering grade suits general information signs. For bay numbers, crossings and anything drivers read in poor light, high intensity prismatic is the better choice because it returns more light and typically lasts longer in UAE sun. Most schools use both, matched to each sign's importance.

Can you make the stop signs on our buses?

Stop arms, livery and markings on the vehicles are specified by the transport authority and usually supplied by the bus manufacturer or fleet operator. We focus on fixed campus signage: bay numbers, zone signs, crossings and route boards, so compliance on the buses stays with the operator.

Can route boards be updated each year?

Yes. We build route boards with changeable panels or slide-in strips, so the school can update bus numbers and areas before each academic year. The frame and bay number stay fixed, and we keep the artwork so replacement strips are printed quickly.

Do you install school bus signs outside Dubai?

Yes. Our crews install across all seven emirates, including Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. The site survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and we schedule installation around your school calendar.
