Parking Bay Number Signs in the UAE

Parking bay number signs that start with a schedule

Parking bay number signs are the identifiers at the head of each bay: cut-vinyl numbers on walls, aluminium or ACP plates on columns, post-mounted plates where there is no wall, or a combination. In a residential tower they tie a bay to an apartment, in an office to a tenant, and in a mall or hotel they help customers and valet staff find a car again. Each sign is inexpensive, but a building may need several hundred, so planning and consistency matter more than any single piece.

Most numbering problems are logic problems, not print problems. Bay 45 exists on B1 and B2. Numbers jump from 112 to 140 because a row was added late. A new block of bays was ordered from a different supplier in a different font. We avoid all of that by agreeing a numbering spreadsheet with your building management before anything is printed, with the level built into every number, so the same list drives the signs, the access cards and the allocation letters.

Bayan Signage has produced car park and building signage in its own factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman since 2016, as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE for 15 years. Our large-format printers, plotters and CNC routers produce every number in-house, and our crews are used to working in occupied basements at night. We keep the schedule and artwork on file, so a damaged plate ten years later is reprinted to match.

Our process

How we produce parking bay number signs in Ajman

  1. Layout survey

We walk every level, confirm bay counts against the drawings and note walls, columns, surfaces and lighting. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and catches bays the drawings missed.

  2. Numbering schedule

Our draftsmen build a spreadsheet with a unique number for every bay, a level prefix and the sign type, and mark it on the plans. Building management approves it before anything is made.

  3. Printing and cutting

Numbers are cut from 3M cast vinyl on our plotters or printed and laminated, and plates are CNC-routed to ±0.1 mm. Every plate carries its schedule code on the back.

  4. Surface preparation

Dusty or unsealed concrete is cleaned and sealed or painted before vinyl goes on, and patched areas are primed, because adhesion decides how long new numbers last on a basement wall or column.

  5. Phased installation

In occupied car parks we work level by level, often at night, moving cars bay by bay. Each number is checked against the schedule as it goes on.

  6. Handover of the schedule

You receive the final spreadsheet and marked-up plans, ready for access control and allocation records, and the same file we use for any future replacement.

Expert advice

Advice from our draftsmen

Numbering a car park is a planning job before it is a printing job. These are the rules our draftsmen apply to every schedule.

Build the level into every number

Bay 45 on B1 and bay 45 on B2 cause constant confusion for residents, visitors and security. We use a level prefix, such as B1-045 or P2-112, so every bay in the building is unique. Keep the same number of digits throughout, with leading zeros, so the numbers line up visually and sort correctly in the access control system.

Number in the direction of traffic

Numbers that rise as drivers move through the car park are easy to follow; numbers that jump across aisles are not. Where it helps, use odd numbers on one side of an aisle and even on the other. Leave gaps in the sequence where future bays might be added, so a new row does not force a renumbering of the whole level.

Agree the spreadsheet before printing

Ordering numbers straight from a drawing leads to duplicates and missing bays, because drawings and reality rarely match exactly. A checked spreadsheet, agreed with building management, catches them before anything is cut. The same list then feeds access cards, allocation letters and the security log, so every system uses the same bay number from day one.

Give each level its own colour

Multi-level basements look identical on every floor, and people return to the wrong level all the time. A different colour band per level, with the level code repeated on every face of each column at about 200 to 300 mm high, lets people notice at once when they are on the wrong floor. It also helps valet and cleaning staff.

Add range signs at row ends

In large car parks, drivers look for a row before a bay. A range sign at the end of each aisle, such as 'B1-040 to B1-060', saves walking the wrong aisle, particularly for valet staff retrieving cars. We hang or fix these where they are visible from the main driving route.

Pricing

Parking bay number signs price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote from the bay count and the methods you choose. Send the drawings or a bay count per level with a few photos, and you will usually receive an itemised quote, with materials, labour and installation separated, within 24 hours.

Number of bays

Price is largely per bay, but large runs bring the unit cost down because set-out, cutting and printing are batched in one production run.

Method per bay

Wall vinyl is the most economical; plates cost more but are crisper; post-mounted plates add a post and fixing for every open-aisle bay.

Surface preparation

Unsealed or dusty concrete needs cleaning and sealing first, and patched or porous walls need priming, which can take longer than applying the numbers themselves.

Level bands and graphics

Painting or wrapping columns is labour-heavy around pipes and fire equipment, but it is the most effective fix for wrong-level confusion.

Live car park working

Occupied basements are usually numbered in phases at night or at weekends, with cars moved bay by bay, which adds time.

Renumbering an existing site

A new system on an existing car park means a fresh schedule, surfaces prepared around live traffic and coordination with access-card records.

Approvals

Parking bay number standards for towers and communities

Parking bay number signs inside a private car park do not normally need a municipality permit, but many master developers, owners associations and facility management companies have car park signage standards covering colours, fonts, plate sizes and level names. Some also set how bays are referenced in title deeds or tenancy contracts. We confirm the current requirement for your building before preparing the numbering schedule.

Bay numbers are usually Western numerals, but level names and range signs are normally expected in Arabic and English. Terms such as basement, podium and mezzanine have more than one Arabic rendering, so we agree the wording with you before production. Where the car park has accessible or EV bays, we keep their numbers in the same sequence so the schedule stays complete.

Why Bayan Signage

Why property managers choose Bayan Signage for parking bay number signs

Schedule first, signs second

Our draftsmen build and check the numbering spreadsheet before production, so there are no duplicates, gaps or numbers that clash with access records.

Made in our own factory

Vinyl, plates and level graphics are produced in Ajman on our own printers, plotters and CNC routers, in one consistent font and colour.

Replacement plates that match

Every plate carries a schedule code, and we keep the artwork, so a single damaged number is reprinted exactly years later.

Night work in occupied basements

Our crews number live car parks level by level, moving cars bay by bay, with minimal disruption to residents and tenants.

One team for the car park

Bay numbers, reserved, accessible, EV, height and entrance signs can be made and installed together, with one project manager.

FAQ

Parking Bay Number Signs questions we are asked most

Where should parking numbers go: wall, column or post?

Wherever the driver looks while reversing. Wall or column numbers above bonnet height show the bay when it is occupied and when you look down an aisle. Where bays face an open aisle with no wall or column behind them, a short post with a number plate does the same job and stays visible above parked cars.

What size should parking bay numbers be?

On walls and columns, numerals around 100 to 150 mm high suit most car parks, read from the aisle at 6 to 10 m. Post-mounted plates are usually around 300 x 200 mm. Level codes on columns are larger, often 200 to 300 mm, so they read across the car park.

How much do parking bay number signs cost in Dubai?

The cost depends mainly on the number of bays, the method per bay, surface preparation and whether you add post-mounted plates or level bands. Large runs are much cheaper per bay than small phased orders. Send the bay count per level and photos, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Can you renumber an existing car park?

Yes. We agree a new numbering spreadsheet, prepare the walls and columns, and install the new numbers in phases so the car park stays usable. The new list can be shared with your access control and allocation records, so everything uses the same numbers from day one, including visitor passes.

Which lasts longer, vinyl numbers or plates?

Aluminium or ACP plates usually last longer and can be replaced individually. Cast vinyl on properly sealed paint lasts several years and costs less, which suits very large basements. Vinyl on unprepared concrete fails fastest, which is why surface preparation matters as much as the material.

Do column colour bands really help?

Yes, especially in multi-level basements that look identical on every floor. A different colour per level, with the level code on each column face, helps people remember where they parked and notice quickly when they are on the wrong level. Bands also help valet and cleaning staff.

Can bay numbers be reflective?

Yes. Reflective plates or reflective film numbers are useful in dim basements and outdoor bays used at night, because they light up in headlights. They cost a little more than standard print and are worth it where lighting is poor or the car park is used around the clock.

Do you number car parks outside Dubai?

Yes. We produce everything in Ajman and install across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and large basements are usually completed in phases, one level at a time.
