Foam board printing gives you a rigid, lightweight sign that one person can carry and set on an easel, a counter or a wall in seconds. The term covers two boards: paper-faced foam core, a polystyrene sheet between thin paper skins, and PVC foam board, a solid expanded PVC sheet that is heavier and much tougher. Wedding planners, conference organisers, hotels, pharmacies and offices across Dubai use both for welcome boards, seating plans, posters and short-term signs.
The board itself is only half the result. For sharp text and deep blacks we print onto self-adhesive vinyl or photo media, mount it onto the board without bubbles, then add a matt or gloss laminate that protects the face from fingerprints. Thickness has to match the size, or an A0 board bows on the easel by the afternoon. We choose the board, laminate and cutting method for each job and cut every edge on our CNC routers, so corners stay square and shapes stay clean.

Our designers set text sizes for the reading distance and check every name and date against the editable text you send. For seating plans, we proof the guest list line by line before printing.
Artwork is printed on our large-format machines onto self-adhesive vinyl or photo media, which gives sharper text and deeper blacks than most direct-to-board printing.
The print is mounted to the board under pressure to avoid bubbles, then laminated in matt or gloss. Matt is our default for events, because it does not reflect flash or chandeliers.
Boards are cut on our CNC routers to size or to a custom outline, with rounded corners where they will be handled. Each one is checked against the approved proof for size, colour and spelling.
Boards are packed flat in a box with card between faces and delivered to the venue or ready for collection, with a note on keeping them out of hot cars.

Foam boards are simple, which is why the small details decide whether they look professional on the day. These are the points we raise most.
A 3 mm board at A0 flops on an easel and bows within hours. Our rule is 5 mm as a minimum for A1 and 10 mm for A0 or larger, especially if the board will be moved between rooms. Thin 3 mm board is best kept for table cards, small door signs or prints that sit inside a frame, where something else supports the edges.
Paper-faced foam core bows in humid air and warps in heat. Left in a parked car in a UAE summer, it can curl badly in an afternoon. Most warped boards we are asked to reprint were flat when they left us. Carry boards flat, lay them in an air-conditioned car, and for marquees, terraces or poolside events choose PVC foam board instead.
Foam boards are read from 1 to 4 m. A welcome board's main name should be readable from 5 to 6 m, which means letters about 60 to 80 mm tall. On an A0 conference poster, body text needs at least 24 to 28 point and headings 70 point or more. If the copy will not fit at those sizes, the answer is fewer words, not smaller ones.
Seating plans and name boards cause most reprints, almost always from spelling. Send the final guest list as an editable file, not a photo of a handwritten sheet, and confirm Arabic and English spellings for every name. We proof long lists line by line, but the list we receive is the list we print.
Gloss laminate looks rich under workshop lights, then throws back chandeliers and camera flashes in every guest photo. Matt laminate reads well from every angle and is our default for weddings, galas and conferences. Keep gloss for counter displays viewed under even shop lighting, where its extra colour depth helps.
We quote boards from size, quantity and finish. Send the sizes, quantity, final text or artwork and event date, and you will usually receive an itemised quote within 24 hours.
Paper-faced foam core is the most economical. PVC foam board costs more but survives handling, humidity and repeat use far better.
Mounted vinyl with matt laminate is our standard. Photo-grade media, anti-scratch or dry-wipe films add material and laminating time.
Rectangles are quick on the CNC router. Custom outlines, internal cut-outs and figures need extra routing time and careful edge finishing.
Twenty identical posters are efficient. Twenty boards with different names or content each need artwork and proof checks, which adds design time.
Easels, strut backs and counter stands are extra. Reusing your own easels keeps cost down, provided the board is sized to fit them.
Urgent jobs and evening deliveries to hotels are often possible, but they push other work aside and may be priced accordingly.
Foam boards used indoors do not normally need a municipality permit, but venues have rules of their own. Many hotels and exhibition centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi prohibit tape, pins or adhesive on their walls, limit where freestanding signs may stand in corridors and ask that nothing blocks fire exits or extinguishers. That is one reason easel boards are so common at UAE events.
For exhibitions, the organiser's manual usually covers stand graphics, maximum heights and sometimes fire-retardant materials. Paper-faced foam core is combustible, so some venues prefer PVC board or other materials for larger graphics. We read the venue or exhibitor manual with you, suggest a board that suits it and confirm the requirement before production starts.
Large-format printing, laminating and CNC routing all happen in our Ajman factory, so boards are not passed between suppliers when the deadline is tight.
Our CNC routers cut foam and PVC board to ±0.1 mm, giving square corners, smooth curves and custom shapes that hand cutting cannot match.
Every name, date and Arabic line is proofed against the text you supply before printing, because that is where most event reprints come from.

Foam board has a soft polystyrene core with paper skins, so it is very light but dents easily and bows in humidity. PVC board is solid expanded PVC, heavier and much tougher, and handles moisture and knocks far better. Foam board suits short indoor events; PVC board suits longer use, handling and semi-outdoor spots.
5 mm is the standard for most event and poster boards up to A1. For A0 and larger, or boards that will be moved around, 10 mm is stiffer and much less likely to bow. Thin 3 mm board is best for small signs, table cards or prints mounted inside a frame.
Paper-faced foam board is not suitable outdoors in the UAE. Heat makes it warp and humidity makes it bow, sometimes within hours. For terraces, poolside events or outdoor entrances, PVC foam board, aluminium composite panel or a framed PVC banner will hold up much better, especially when kept out of direct sun.
Simple boards are often ready the same or next working day after artwork approval, depending on quantity and workload. Paper-faced foam core can also be shaped, though very fine details and sharp internal corners are harder to keep crisp. Shapes take a little longer than rectangles, so allow extra time.
