FAQAcrylic Fascia Signs questions we are asked most
Is acrylic suitable for outdoor shop signs in the UAE?
Yes, if it is UV-stabilised cast acrylic of a sensible thickness, fixed with room to expand. It handles heat and humidity well and keeps its colour for many years. The problems people see come from cheap extruded sheet, holes drilled too tight or cleaning with solvents, and all three are avoided at the ordering stage.
How much does an acrylic fascia signboard cost in Dubai?
The price depends on the size, the sheet thickness, how many colours and layers the logo has, the fixing hardware and whether the sign is lit. A one-colour name in 10 mm acrylic on a backing panel is at the economical end; a lit, layered bilingual logo costs more. We send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours of receiving your files.
What thickness of acrylic is best for a shop sign?
For clear backing panels outdoors, 8 to 12 mm is typical. For raised letters, 5 mm suits small text, 10 mm suits most shop names up to about 400 mm high, and 15 to 20 mm suits larger logos. Thicker sheet looks richer and casts a stronger shadow, but it costs more and weighs more.
Will acrylic letters turn yellow in the sun?
Good UV-stabilised cast acrylic should stay clear and colourful for many years outdoors. Yellowing and brittleness are typical of extruded, recycled or unbranded sheet. Afternoon sun on a west-facing fascia is the hardest test, so on those frontages we are especially strict about sheet choice, and we avoid colours such as some reds and oranges that fade faster.
Can an acrylic fascia sign be illuminated?
Yes, in several ways. Opal acrylic forms the faces of front-lit letters, thick acrylic letters can be pushed through a routed face and lit from behind, and clear panels can be edge-lit so the routed or printed artwork glows. Each needs a different build, so it is best decided at the design stage rather than added later.
Can you cut my Arabic logo in acrylic?
Yes. Laser cutting handles fine Arabic letterforms well, including dots and diacritics, as long as the smallest parts are thick enough to survive outdoors. We set the Arabic and English as one design, check spelling against your trade licence, and slightly thicken any stroke that would be too fragile at fascia size.
How do I clean an acrylic shop sign?
Rinse it with plenty of clean water first to lift the sand, then wipe gently with a microfibre cloth and mild soap. Never wipe dusty acrylic dry, and avoid glass cleaners with ammonia, acetone or alcohol, which can craze the sheet. Light scratches on clear panels can often be polished out by our team.
Can a broken acrylic letter be replaced on its own?
Usually yes. We keep the cutting files for signs we make, so a damaged letter can be re-cut in matching sheet and fixed back in place. Colour match is close if the original has not faded badly; if it has, we suggest replacing the whole word so the sign stays even.
