LED Ticker & Scrolling Message Signs in the UAE

LED scrolling signs for messages that change

An LED scrolling sign is a long, narrow display that shows short text messages which move across or change in pages: offers, duty hours, prayer times, exchange rates, queue numbers or safety notices. Most are built from standard P10 modules, 320 x 160 mm with 10 mm between pixels, one to four modules high and as many as needed wide. Owners update them from a phone, a laptop or a USB stick, so the sign stays current at no printing cost.

The display modules themselves are commercial products; what separates a reliable ticker from one that fails every August is everything around them. That means a cabinet that drains and breathes instead of cooking its electronics, power supplies sized with headroom and reachable for a quick swap, sealed cable entries, and a controller that joins Arabic letters correctly and scrolls them the right way. We build that part in our own factory and test it with your real messages.

Bayan Signage has operated its factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman, since 2016, as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, a UAE group with 15 years in the market. Our fabricators cut and powder-coat the aluminium cabinets, our electricians fit the modules, controller and supplies and run each display at full brightness, and our installers fix it to the fascia, bracket or pole. Over 500 clients across the UAE use our signage.

Our process

How we build LED scrolling signs in our Ajman factory

  1. Survey and message list

We measure the position, check the wall or bracket, locate power and network, and ask for the actual messages you will show, in Arabic and English, so the size suits the text.

  2. Sizing and shop drawing

Our designers set the module rows for the viewing distance, and draftsmen produce the drawing used for the cabinet, the bracket and any permit submission.

  3. Cabinet fabrication

Aluminium frames are cut, drilled and welded in our factory, with drainage, ventilation and a service door for outdoor units, then powder-coated to your colour.

  4. Module, controller and power fit-out

Electricians fit the modules flush, wire the supplies with headroom, install the controller and load your messages, including an Arabic font test on the real display.

  5. Burn-in and quality check

Each display runs at full brightness on our test bench to catch dead pixels, uneven modules or weak supplies, and is checked against the approved drawing.

  6. Installation and training

The crew fixes the sign with stainless anchors, connects a protected circuit, sets the brightness schedule and shows your staff how to change messages from a phone or PC.

Expert advice

Advice from our estimating team

Most scrolling signs we are asked to replace were not broken; they were unreadable. These rules decide whether people actually take in the message.

Let character height follow distance

With P10 modules, one row of 160 mm carries text about 130 mm high, comfortable from 10 to 15 m. Two rows, 320 mm, carry text around 250 mm high, readable from about 30 m. Arabic needs slightly more height than English for the same clarity, because its dots and ascenders disappear when squeezed into too few pixels. Decide where your readers stand, then choose the rows.

Keep messages short and slow

A sign six to eight modules wide, 1.9 to 2.6 m, shows roughly eight to twelve characters at once. A scrolling message should pass in five to eight seconds and stay under about 40 characters. Static pages that change every few seconds read better than continuous scrolling, especially for drivers, and they are easier to get approved near a road.

Test Arabic before you approve

Not every controller renders Arabic properly. Letters must join in their correct forms and the text must move right to left. We load your actual Arabic messages, prayer names or offers onto the real display in the factory and send you a video before the sign is installed, because fixing it on a ladder outside a shop is slow and expensive.

Plan the evening brightness

A display bright enough for noon sun is far too bright at 10 p.m. and will glare into homes and at drivers. A brightness sensor or a timed schedule drops the output in the evening, cuts power use and heat, and avoids complaints from neighbours and building managers.

Give the electronics somewhere cool to live

In direct July sun the inside of a closed cabinet runs far hotter than the air. We ventilate the cabinet, keep supplies away from the hottest face, add shade from a canopy where possible and position everything so a supply can be swapped in minutes.

Pricing

LED scrolling sign price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote each display from its size, pitch and controller. Send us the width you have, the messages you plan to show and a site photo, and we will usually reply with an itemised quote within 24 hours.

Size and module count

Cost follows the number of modules, the cabinet and the supplies. Going two rows high doubles the module count of a sign the same width.

Colour type

Single-colour red is the most economical; white, tri-colour and full colour cost progressively more and draw more power.

Indoor or outdoor

Outdoor signs need sealed modules, a ventilated weatherproof cabinet, stronger brackets and often a permit.

Controller features

USB-only cards are inexpensive. Wi-Fi, LAN or 4G control, brightness sensors, schedules and multi-sign management add cost.

Mounting and power

Fixing to a fascia, a projecting bracket or a pole, a dedicated power circuit and work at height shape the installation price.

Integration

Linking the display to a queue system, a rates feed or prayer time data needs set-up and testing beyond typed messages.

Approvals

LED scrolling sign permits and moving-text rules

Moving or flashing text visible from roads can concern Dubai Municipality and RTA, because of driver distraction, and some malls, communities and free zones restrict scrolling displays or ban them outright. Static text that changes at intervals is generally easier to approve than continuous movement, and brightness at night is often part of the review.

Outdoor displays usually need approval in the same way as other signs, from the municipality or the free-zone or master-developer authority for your area. Our draftsmen prepare the drawings and a description of how the display will operate for the submission. Rules vary by location and change over time, so we confirm the current requirement for your exact site.

FAQ

LED Ticker & Scrolling Message Signs questions we are asked most

How much does an LED scrolling sign cost in Dubai?

It depends on the size, the number of module rows, single or full colour, indoor or outdoor build, the controller and the mounting. A one-row red ticker inside a window costs far less than a two-row full-colour outdoor display on a bracket. Send us the width, your messages and a photo, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How do I change the message on the sign?

Most of our controllers connect over Wi-Fi or the network, so you type and schedule messages from a phone app or a PC. Basic signs can also be updated from a USB stick. We set up the software and train your staff at handover.

Can the sign show Arabic?

Yes, with the right controller. Arabic letters must join correctly and scroll right to left, which many cheap cards do badly. We test your actual Arabic messages on the display before installation and allow slightly more character height for Arabic than for English.

What size scrolling sign do I need?

For readers 10 to 15 m away, such as pedestrians on the pavement, a one-row P10 sign with text about 130 mm high works well. For readers 30 m away, such as drivers on a service road, choose two rows. Width sets how many characters show at once, usually eight to twelve on a 2 m sign.

Is a scrolling sign or an LED screen better?

For short text that changes often, a scrolling sign is cheaper to buy and run, brighter per watt and simpler to update. For photos, video and detailed graphics, an LED or LCD screen is the better tool. Many shops use a ticker under the fascia and keep the branding on the sign above.

Do I need a permit for an outdoor scrolling sign?

Usually, yes. Outdoor displays generally need approval from the municipality or the free-zone authority, and moving text near roads may face restrictions. We prepare the drawings and submission and confirm the current rules for your site.

How long does an outdoor LED scrolling sign last?

A well-built outdoor display commonly gives many years of service, and the supplies and controller usually need attention before the LEDs do. Ventilation, shade and a brightness schedule all extend its life, and we design the cabinet so supplies can be swapped quickly.

Can you repair an existing scrolling sign?

Usually. Dead rows, flickering modules and failed supplies are common faults, and modules of the same pitch can often be replaced individually. Our LED sign repair team inspects displays made by others as well as our own.
