LED Sign Repair in the UAE

LED sign repair that finds the cause of the fault

LED sign repair is the work of finding exactly where an illuminated sign has failed and bringing it back to the brightness it had on installation day. An LED sign is a simple chain: mains power reaches a driver, the driver converts it to 12 or 24 V DC, and that feeds strings of modules inside each letter or lightbox. When half a shopfront goes dark, a logo flickers at dusk or the breaker trips every time it rains, the fault sits somewhere on that chain. Restaurants, pharmacies, showrooms, clinics, mall tenants and building owners with Bayan signs call us when it happens.

Most failed signs are worth repairing. The metalwork, acrylic and fixings are where most of the original cost went, and a dead driver or a corroded connector is a small part to replace. What matters is the diagnosis. A driver replaced in the same sealed, sun-baked box fails again next summer; a joint wrapped in tape passes the test today and trips after the first rain. Our electricians test drivers under load, trace low-voltage runs letter by letter and repair the conditions that killed the part.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, with 15 years in the UAE, and our factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman has built illuminated signs since 2016. Because we assemble LED modules, wire drivers and run full-brightness tests on our own signs every day, we repair with the same parts and methods. Signs with heavy water damage can come back to our workshop, and we keep drawings for every sign we have made.

Our process

How our LED sign repair visit works

  1. Remote triage from photos

A night photo and the location of the breaker and timer often tell us whether a driver, a single letter or water is the likely cause, so we arrive with the right parts.

  2. Supply and controls check

We confirm mains is reaching the sign: breaker, isolator, timer and photocell. A tripped RCD, a timer reset by a power cut or a dusty photocell explains a surprising number of dead signs.

  3. Driver testing under load

Each driver is measured for input and output voltage while the LEDs are drawing current. A driver that reads correctly with nothing connected can still collapse once it is working.

  4. Tracing modules and cables

Where one letter or section is out, we trace the low-voltage run letter by letter, looking for corroded connectors, cable chafed at the entry point or one failed module breaking a series string.

  5. Repair and re-seal

Failed parts are replaced with matched modules and correctly rated drivers, joints are made with sealed connectors and heat-shrink, drain holes are cleared and cable entries re-sealed.

  6. Night check and report

We confirm current draw by day, then check even brightness after dark. You receive photos of what we found and changed, and advice on anything that may fail next.

Expert advice

Advice from our repair electricians

The pattern of a fault tells us a lot before we open anything. These are the points we share most often with clients.

Read the pattern of the failure

When a whole group of letters goes dark at once, the driver feeding them is the likely cause, not the LEDs. When one letter is out and its neighbours stay lit, the fault is usually within the first 100 mm of cable where it enters that letter, where wind flexes it against the metal edge and rain runs along it. We cut back past the damage, fit a grommet and form a drip loop.

Do not keep resetting a tripping breaker

A breaker that trips after rain is telling you water is reaching a live connection. Resetting it again and again can damage drivers and is a safety risk. Leave it off, take a photo of the sign in daylight, and have the entry point found and sealed. Drying the sign is not a repair on its own.

Ask for a retrofit price past one third

If more than about a third of the letters are failing, or the modules are eight to ten years old, patching letter by letter costs more over two years than re-lighting the whole sign with new modules and drivers. As long as the faces are not badly yellowed and the returns are sound, a retrofit keeps the metalwork and gives you an even, new-looking sign.

Do not let anyone seal the drain holes

Some well-meant repairs fill every gap with silicone, including the drain holes. Water still gets in through condensation on humid nights near the coast, then cannot escape, and modules corrode faster than before. Every outdoor letter and lightbox needs a working drain at its lowest point, and we clear or add them on most repairs.

Put the sign on a timer after repair

A sign running all day in July is a driver working in a very hot box for hours with nobody seeing the light. A photocell that switches on at dusk and a timer that switches off after closing reduce running hours a great deal. Ask staff to report flicker early, because a flickering driver often fails completely within weeks.

Pricing

LED sign repair cost in Dubai: what affects the price

We price repairs from what we find, so there is no fixed call-out list. Send a night photo, the sign's height and the breaker location, and you will usually receive an itemised quote within 24 hours, separating parts, labour and access.

Access height and equipment

A ground-floor fascia reached by ladder is quick. Boom lifts, scaffolding, rope access or a building gondola add equipment and labour, and sometimes night work.

Number of failed parts

One driver or one connector is a short job. Several drivers, many letters with failed modules or rewiring between letters takes longer and uses more parts.

Matching existing LEDs

If the original modules are no longer available, whole letters or the whole sign may need re-lighting so colour and brightness stay consistent.

Water damage

Letters with water inside need opening, drying, cleaning, new drain holes and re-sealing as well as new modules, which adds workshop time.

Workshop or on-site repair

Most repairs are done in place. Badly damaged letters or lightboxes removed to our Ajman workshop add removal, transport and refitting.

Mall and building permits

Malls and managed towers usually require work permits, method statements and out-of-hours access, which affect scheduling and labour.

Approvals

LED sign repair permits and site safety

Repairing an existing sign does not usually need a new municipality permit, as long as its size, position and content stay the same. Malls, master communities and managed towers usually require a work permit, insurance details and a method statement before anyone works at height or opens electrical equipment, and free-zone sites may follow their own authority's process.

Our electricians isolate the sign, confirm it is dead and work to the site's safety rules, and our installation crews are trained for high-access work. If a repair turns into a rebuild that changes the sign, we prepare the drawings for a fresh approval. Requirements vary, so we confirm them for your site.

Why Bayan Signage

Why businesses choose Bayan Signage for LED sign repair

Our own electricians

Repairs are carried out by the electricians who wire and test LED signs in our factory every day, not by general maintenance staff.

Drawings on file

We keep the drawings, LED layout and driver details for every sign we have made, so our electricians arrive knowing how your sign is wired and fed.

Workshop backup

Badly damaged letters or lightboxes can come back to our Ajman workshop to be rebuilt on the bench and refitted, rather than patched on a ladder.

Matched parts

Replacement Samsung or Epistar modules and correctly rated drivers are matched to your existing colour temperature and voltage.

Itemised, honest quotes

Parts, labour and access are listed separately, and we tell you plainly when replacement makes more sense than repair.

National retail groups, international brands and single shops call us back for repairs, and most of our work comes from returning clients.

FAQ

LED Sign Repair questions we are asked most

How much does LED sign repair cost in Dubai?

It depends on what has failed, how many parts are involved, the height of the sign and any mall or building permits. A single driver on a ground-floor fascia is a short job; rewiring a tower-top sign needs a boom lift or rope access. Send a night photo and the sign's height, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Which signs does your LED repair service cover?

Our repair service covers the LED signs Bayan Signage has made and installed: channel letters, lightboxes, logos, pylons and fascias. Because we hold the drawings, LED layout and driver details for each one, our electricians know how the sign is wired before they arrive and can match parts exactly. Mall signs may still need the landlord's work permit first.

How do I know if it is the driver or the LEDs?

The pattern usually tells you. If a whole group of letters goes dark at once, the driver feeding them is the likely cause. If one letter is out or patchy, it is more often a connector, cable or single failed module. We confirm with voltage tests under load before replacing anything.

Why does my LED sign flicker?

Flicker usually means a driver that is failing, overheating or overloaded, or a loose connection in the low-voltage run. A photocell or timer switching on and off at dusk can also look like flicker. It rarely fixes itself and often ends in a full failure, so it is worth checking early.

Why does my sign stop working after rain?

Water is reaching a live connection, usually through an unsealed cable entry, a cracked face or a letter with blocked drain holes, and the RCD trips to protect the circuit. The fix is finding the entry point and sealing it, plus replacing corroded parts. Until then, leave the breaker off.

Is it worth repairing an old LED sign?

Usually, if the returns are sound and the faces are not badly yellowed or cracked. Re-lighting a sign with new modules and drivers costs far less than new letters. If the body is rusting or a rebrand is planned within a year, a temporary fix and a budget for new signage is better value.

How quickly can you come out?

We arrange the inspection as soon as access allows and put faults that are a safety risk, such as a tripping sign over a pavement, first. Mall and tower jobs depend on permit timing. We cover all seven emirates from Ajman, Sunday to Thursday 08:00 to 18:00, with night checks arranged as needed.

Does the sign need to come down for repair?

Most LED repairs are done in place from a ladder, tower or lift. Letters or lightboxes with heavy water damage, broken faces or rusted internals are sometimes better removed to our workshop, repaired on the bench and refitted. We explain which approach makes sense after inspection.
