Neon Sign Repair in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman

Bayan Signage repairs the LED neon flex signs it makes and installs, from its own factory in Ajman. Our electricians trace the fault to the driver, a joint or a run, fix what can be fixed on site and rebuild the rest in the workshop, then run the sign at full brightness before it goes back on the wall.

Neon Sign Repair in the UAE

Neon sign repair from the people who build neon

Neon sign repair, for the signs we build, means LED neon flex: LED chips in a silicone or PVC jacket, running at 12 or 24 V DC from a small driver. It is what lights most of the neon we make for Dubai cafés, salons, offices and shopfronts, and it lasts for years when it is specified and fixed correctly. When one of our signs goes dark, dims or yellows, we bring it back, for the owner of a single quote sign on a café wall and for brands with our neon across several branches.

Most neon faults are cheap to fix and expensive to misdiagnose. A sign that fades towards one end usually has voltage drop on an over-long run, not bad LEDs, so new flex changes nothing. A dark letter is often one cracked solder joint at a cut point. A sign that flickers at night may simply have a driver running too close to its limit in a hot fascia. Our electricians measure voltage at both ends of every run and test each component before quoting, so you pay for the part that failed and nothing more.

Bayan Signage has made illuminated signs in Ajman since 2016 as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE for 15 years. We assemble LED neon in the same factory where we wire channel letters and lightboxes, and we keep the artwork and specification for the signs we made, so replacement flex, drivers and acrylic backings are cut, assembled and tested in-house to match. Where a repair is poor value, we say so and quote a rebuild from your original artwork instead.

Our process

How we carry out neon sign repair in our Ajman factory

  1. Photos and first diagnosis

You send photos of the sign lit and unlit, plus the label on the adaptor or driver. With our original drawing on file, that alone often tells us which run, joint or driver is likely at fault before anyone visits.

  2. Site test with the supply isolated

Our electrician isolates the circuit, checks the supply and driver, then tests each run. On LED neon we read the voltage at both ends of every run to find drop, breaks and joints that have started to fail.

  3. On-site fixes

Driver swaps, re-terminated cut ends and new connectors are usually done on site. Every new joint gets an end cap and silicone seal, and loose flex is clipped back into its channel mechanically.

  4. Workshop rebuild where needed

Signs with cracked backings, many dead runs or yellowed flex come back to our Ajman factory. We cut new acrylic on the CNC router, lay matching flex and wire a correctly sized driver.

  5. Burn-in test

Repaired signs run at full brightness in our test area before they leave the factory, so the colour match between old and new flex and the evenness of each run are checked properly.

  6. Refit and night check

The sign is refixed, connected and switched on. Outdoor neon is checked again after dark, and you receive photos of the parts we replaced and of the driver position.

Specification

Neon sign repair specification: the parts we fit

These are the parts we fit as standard. Where a sign was first specified for indoor use or a tighter budget, the quote shows the better part as a separate line so you can choose.

Expert advice

Advice from our neon repair electricians

These are the points we explain most often on site. They save money and keep a repaired sign running for years.

A sign that fades at one end needs a second feed, not new flex

LED neon loses voltage along its length. A 12 V run usually starts to dim visibly after about 5 m from a single feed, and 24 V flex manages roughly twice that. If the first letters are bright and the last word looks tired, the LEDs are probably fine. We measure voltage at both ends of the run: a drop of a volt or more tells us to add a feed point, which costs a fraction of replacing the flex.

Only cut LED neon at the printed marks

Flex can be cut only at the manufacturer's marks, typically every 25 to 100 mm depending on the product. Cut between them and the section back to the previous mark goes dark, however clean the cut looks. When a sign is altered after installation, for example trimmed to fit a new wall, this is the first thing we check. Remaking the end at the correct point fixes it.

Indoor neon does not belong outside, even under a canopy

Low-cost indoor neon is usually PVC with unsealed ends. Under a shopfront canopy in Dubai it still sees humidity, dust and reflected sun, and it tends to fail joint by joint within a season or two. For anything outside we fit silicone-jacketed flex, sealed end caps and an IP65 driver in a shaded, ventilated position, and we route cables so water runs away from every joint rather than into it.

Do not plug a sign into a bigger adaptor

When an adaptor fails, the temptation is to plug the sign into whatever spare supply is in the store. A supply at the wrong voltage burns out LEDs within minutes, and one too small runs hot and cuts out every evening. Read the label on the original driver, or send us a photo of it, and we fit a constant-voltage driver at the correct 12 or 24 V with headroom above the sign's load. If a driver smells hot or the sign flickers, switch it off and call us.

Compare repair against rebuild honestly

As a rough rule, if more than half of an LED neon sign needs new flex, or the acrylic backing is cracked across several letters, a rebuild usually makes more sense than a repair. We price both from the same visit, and we reuse anything worth keeping, such as a sound acrylic backing or a correctly rated driver.

Pricing

Neon sign repair cost in Dubai: what affects the price

Neon repairs are quoted after diagnosis, so there is no fixed price list. Send photos of the sign lit and unlit, the adaptor or driver label and the sign's location, and we usually return an itemised quote within 24 hours that separates parts, labour and access.

Driver or flex fault

A failed driver is a quick swap with standard low-voltage parts. Faults inside the flex itself mean cutting back, remaking joints or laying new runs, which takes longer.

Length of flex affected

One failed joint is a short job. Several dead runs, or yellowing across the whole sign, mean more new flex and more time matching the original layout.

Colour and product match

Some flex is easy to match for width, colour temperature and brightness. Where it is not, replacing a whole word looks better than patching a short section.

Backing and mounting

A cracked acrylic backing, lost clips or flex pulled out of its channel adds CNC cutting and assembly work in our Ajman factory.

Site or workshop repair

Small fixes happen on site. Larger repairs mean removing the sign, transport to Ajman and refitting, which adds labour but gives a cleaner result.

Access and timing

A wall sign at eye level is simple. Neon above a terrace or a high shopfront, or in a mall that only allows night work, adds equipment and labour.

Approvals

Neon sign repair approvals and electrical safety

A like-for-like neon sign repair usually needs no new municipality approval, because the size, wording and position of the sign stay the same. Malls, managed towers and communities normally ask for a work permit or NOC and a method statement before electrical work or work at height, and some limit it to night hours. We prepare those documents and agree the time slot with building management.

Changes are different. Moving a sign outdoors, resizing it or changing its wording can mean the existing approval from Dubai Municipality, Sharjah or Ajman Municipality or a free-zone authority needs updating. Final mains connections are made by our own electricians with an isolator in place. Requirements vary by location, so we confirm them for your exact site before work starts.

FAQ

Neon Sign Repair questions we are asked most

How much does neon sign repair cost in Dubai?

It depends on how much of the neon has failed, the parts needed and where the sign is. Replacing a driver or remaking one joint is a small job; rebuilding a yellowed outdoor sign is a bigger one. Send photos of the sign lit and unlit and the adaptor or driver label, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Can a neon sign be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Most of our neon signs can be repaired. LED neon usually fails at a joint, a cut end or the driver, and all three can be fixed. Sagging flex can be clipped back mechanically. LED flex that has yellowed along its whole length, or a backing cracked across several letters, is where a rebuild from the original artwork often makes more sense.

Why does my neon sign flicker or cut out in the evening?

Usually the driver. A driver working close to its limit, or sitting in a hot, unventilated spot behind a fascia, overheats and switches itself off, then restarts when it cools. A loose connector can cause the same symptom. We test the driver under load, check its rating against the sign, and replace or relocate it so it runs cool.

Why has one section of my LED neon gone dark?

Usually a solder joint or connector at the start of that section has failed, or the internal copper has cracked where the flex was bent too tightly. We cut back to the nearest manufacturer's mark, remake the connection and seal it. If the section was crushed or burnt, we replace that length with matching flex.

Why has my LED neon turned yellow?

Yellowing is almost always PVC-jacketed flex reacting to UV and heat. It happens fastest outdoors in direct sun, but also behind bright shop windows. It cannot be cleaned off, because the change is in the material itself. The fix is to replace those runs with silicone LED neon, which holds its colour far better in UAE conditions.

Can you move or reinstall a neon sign you made for us?

Yes. If you are relocating a branch or refitting a shop, we can take down a neon sign we made, check and service it in our Ajman workshop, and install it at the new site. If it is moving outdoors, we upgrade the flex, joints and driver to outdoor standard first.

Can you add a timer or dimmer while repairing our neon sign?

Yes, and it is often worth doing at the same visit. A timer switches the sign on at sunset and off after closing, which reduces running hours and extends the life of the flex and driver. Dimming suits restaurants and lounges that want softer light later in the evening. We fit a compatible driver and controller and test the full range before handover.

Do you repair neon signs outside Dubai?

Yes. Our electricians work across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah from our factory in Ajman, and the site visit is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. Portable indoor signs can often be repaired in the workshop and returned to you tested.
