Hotel Room Number Signs for Hotels in Dubai & the UAE

Bayan Signage produces hotel room number signs and guest floor packages for hotels, resorts and serviced apartments across the UAE. We work from the operator's brand standard and the interior designer's samples, make a first plate in the final finish for approval, then cut, finish and install every room, corridor and lift lobby sign from our Ajman factory.

Hotel Room Signs in the UAE

Hotel room number signs designed for a tired guest at midnight

Hotel room number signs are the plates beside each guest room door, usually in brushed or PVD-coloured stainless, timber, printed acrylic or backlit acrylic chosen to match the interior. They belong to a guest floor package that also covers lift lobby range signs, corridor directionals and back-of-house doors. We make them for city business hotels, beach resorts, boutique hotels and serviced apartment towers, working to the operator's brand standard where there is one.

The person every plate is designed for is a guest walking a dim corridor late at night with a key card and a suitcase. A number in thin gold script on dark timber can look beautiful in the mock-up room and be unreadable at 100 lux. Plates also take a beating: trolleys at corner height, daily wiping with whatever chemical housekeeping uses, humidity in coastal resorts. We test contrast and finish against those conditions before the full run.

Bayan Signage has been making signs in its own Ajman factory since 2016, as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has been in the UAE for 15 years. Plates are CNC-routed and laser-cut in-house, finished, lit where needed by our electricians, and installed by the crew that made them. Our draftsmen prepare the shop drawings and sample submissions the owner, operator and designer need to sign off.

Our process

How we make hotel room number signs in our Ajman factory

  1. Brand standard and room schedule

We read the operator's signage manual and the designer's details, then build a schedule of every room, suite, accessible and connecting room, with any variations marked on the floor plans.

  2. Shop drawings and samples

Our draftsmen prepare shop drawings for owner, operator and designer approval. Where the standard names a material that is hard to source locally, we propose an equivalent with a physical sample.

  3. First plate in the final finish

One plate is made exactly as the run will be and viewed under the real corridor lighting. We give it to housekeeping as well, to wipe with the hotel's own cleaning products.

  4. Batch production and finishing

Plates are CNC-routed or laser-cut, UV-printed or fitted with raised numbers, sealed or powder-coated as specified, and backlit plates are wired and run at full brightness in our test area before packing.

  5. Check and pack by floor

Every plate is checked against the approved sample and the room schedule for number, finish and orientation, then packed floor by floor with spares for the pre-opening snag period.

  6. Installation with templates

Our crew installs with a positioning template on every floor, on the wall rather than the fire-rated door, and our electricians connect backlit plates. In operating hotels we work around guest rest hours.

This is our starting point when the brand standard leaves room for choice. Where the operator's manual sets a detail, the manual wins, and every change is itemised.

Expert advice

Advice from our hospitality projects team

Hotels change plates far less often than offices, so the decisions made at sampling stay with the building until the next refurbishment. These are the ones we push hardest on.

Approve the sample in the corridor, not the office

A plate signed off under office lighting can be unreadable in a corridor lit at 100 lux or less for atmosphere. Take the sample into the mock-up room or a finished corridor, switch to night lighting and read it from 3 m. If you hesitate, the number needs to be bigger, higher in contrast or backlit.

Hand the first plate to housekeeping

Designers judge finish; housekeeping decides how it ages. Give the first plate to the housekeeping manager to wipe daily with the hotel's actual products until the full run is approved. Some lacquers, timber sealers and printed finishes dull or stain quickly under strong cleaners, and it is far cheaper to change the finish on one plate than on three hundred.

Decide on backlighting before the walls close

Backlit numbers need a low-voltage feed and an accessible driver position at every door, coordinated with the electrical contractor early in the fit-out. Deciding after the corridor walls are finished means chasing walls on every floor. If you are unsure, ask for spare conduit to each door position; it costs little and keeps the option open.

Order spares for opening week

Plates get scratched during the final stage of fit-out, by other trades, luggage trolleys and furniture deliveries. We recommend about 2 to 3 percent spare blank plates and spare numerals in each finish, delivered with the main run. Replacing a damaged plate from stock on the morning of an operator inspection is a very different day from waiting for a remake.

Seal for the coast

Beach resorts and island properties have humid corridors and outdoor walkways where untreated metal tarnishes and timber swells. Choose marine-grade stainless or sealed, powder-coated finishes for those areas, and specify outdoor-rated fixings for villa and walkway plates. Interior corridors in the same resort can still use the softer finishes the designer wants.

Pricing

Hotel room number signs price in the UAE: what affects the cost

We quote each hotel from the room schedule and the brand standard. Send the signage manual or design intent, the room count and the floor plans, and we usually return an itemised quote within 24 hours, separating sampling, plates, guest floor signs and installation.

Brand standard detail

Matching an operator's specification exactly, and getting each sample approved by owner, operator and designer, adds design and sampling time.

Material and finishing

PVD stainless and timber cost more than acrylic, and raised numbers, sealing and polishing add hand work to every plate.

Backlighting

Backlit plates need LEDs, drivers and power at every door, plus coordination with the electrical contractor during the fit-out.

Variations

Suites, accessible rooms and connecting rooms add plate designs beyond the standard, which raises the number of different items in the run.

Guest floor package

Corridor range signs, lift lobby signs and back-of-house plates add scope, but they share the same sampling and set-up as the room plates.

Installation stage

Pre-opening installation is the most efficient. Replacing plates in an operating hotel means floor-by-floor work around guests, often in short windows.

Approvals

Hotel room number signs: fire doors, accessibility and brand approval

Indoor hotel room number signs do not need a municipality permit, but they sit inside the fire and life safety review. Guest room doors are fire-rated, so plates usually go on the wall beside the latch side rather than on the door, and corridor signs must not obstruct exit signs or fire equipment, which in Dubai fall under Dubai Civil Defence rules. We confirm requirements with your consultant.

Accessible rooms and floors need clear, high-contrast identification at a consistent height, in line with the Dubai Universal Design Code and most operator standards. Approval by the operator's brand team is often the longest step, so we prepare shop drawings and physical samples early and confirm the current requirements for your property before production.

FAQ

Hotel Room Signs questions we are asked most

How much do hotel room number signs cost in the UAE?

It depends on the brand standard, the material and finishing, backlighting, the number of plate variations and when installation happens. Brushed stainless plates for a 200-room business hotel cost far less per plate than backlit numbers set into timber for a boutique property. Send us the room schedule and the standard, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

What material is best for hotel room number signs?

It depends on the design concept and the operator's standard, but brushed or PVD-coloured stainless is the most common because it cleans well and ages slowly, and engraved, paint-filled numbers in stainless or brass never wear off. Timber suits boutique and resort hotels if it is sealed, and printed acrylic works well for serviced apartments on a tighter budget. Whatever you choose, test it with the hotel's own cleaning products first.

Should hotel room numbers be backlit?

Backlit numbers help in hotels with dim, atmospheric corridors and make rooms easy to find at night. They need power at each door and coordination with the electrical design, so decide early in the fit-out. In well-lit corridors, high-contrast printed or raised numbers are usually enough.

What do accessible hotel rooms need on the door sign?

Accessible rooms and floors are usually expected to have clear identification: larger, high-contrast numbers, the accessibility symbol and a consistent mounting height, in line with the Dubai Universal Design Code and operator standards. We design these plates to match the rest of the floor and confirm the requirement with your consultant and operator.

Can you match our brand's signage manual?

Yes. We work from the operator's signage manual and the interior designer's details, prepare shop drawings and samples, and submit them for approval. Where the manual specifies a proprietary material that is not available locally, we propose an equivalent and send a physical sample for the brand to sign off.

Can room plates be replaced in an operating hotel?

Yes. We plan replacement floor by floor with the engineering and housekeeping teams, around occupancy and guest rest hours. Old plates come off carefully, walls are touched up where needed, and new plates go up with templates so every floor matches. We agree the number of floors per shift with your team in advance.

How long does a hotel room sign package take?

It depends on the room count, the materials and how quickly the owner, operator and designer approve the samples, which is usually the longest stage. We give you a realistic schedule with the quote, covering sampling, production and installation, and plan it around the pre-opening programme. Imported finishes add time, so we start sampling early.

Do you work on hotels outside Dubai?

Yes. We supply and install hotel room number signs across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah resorts, from our factory in Ajman. The site survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and we plan installation around your opening date.
