Hotel Signage for Entrances & Lobbies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Bayan Signage fabricates hotel signage in its own Ajman factory, from halo-lit letters on the porte-cochere canopy to the reception logo and the bilingual signs that guide guests to lifts, ballrooms and the spa. We build to the operator's brand manual, mount a full-size sample in your lobby before the main run, and install across all seven emirates.

Hotel Entrance & Lobby Signs in the UAE

Hotel signage that belongs to the interior

Hotel signage covers everything a guest reads between the driveway and the lift doors: the name on the canopy or monument, drop-off and valet signs, the feature logo behind reception, directional signs to restaurants, ballrooms, spa and pool, and the lift lobby directory. It is bought by owners, pre-opening teams, operators and fit-out contractors in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates, usually as one family of signs designed to a brand standards manual.

The gap between good and poor hotel signage is mostly finish and coordination. Brass that does not match the lift trims, a PVD gold that looks green under warm downlights, or a heavy wall sign fixed into gypsum with nothing solid behind it will all show within weeks. We laser-cut and CNC-route metal and acrylic in-house, approve every finish on a physical sample under your lighting, and give the fit-out contractor our fixing positions before the walls are closed.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE for 15 years, and our Ajman factory has made signs since 2016 for more than 500 clients, including national retail groups and international brands. For a hotel, that means one team making exterior lit letters, lobby features, wayfinding and Civil Defence signage to the same standard, with a single project manager working alongside your interior designer and operator.

Our process

How we deliver hotel signage from our Ajman factory

  1. Brand manual and sign schedule

We read the operator's signage standards, the interior palette and the floor plans, then prepare a location plan showing every decision point from the gate to the lift lobby and the message each sign carries.

  2. Shop drawings and submissions

Our draftsmen detail every sign type, including fixings for stone, timber and gypsum, and prepare the exterior authority package with bilingual artwork checked against the hotel's trade licence.

  3. Full-size sample in your lobby

We make one directional sign and a finish panel in the final materials and mount them on site, so the designer, operator and lighting designer approve size, tone and glare under the real lights.

  4. In-house fabrication

Metals are laser-cut, acrylic is CNC-routed to ±0.1 mm, and lit elements are wired with Samsung or Epistar modules and run at full brightness in our test area before they are closed.

  5. Finishing and sign-off

Brass is lacquered and aluminium powder-coated. Each sign is checked against the approved artwork and the location plan, then packed and labelled by floor and position for the crew.

  6. Phased installation and handover

We install around the fit-out or at night in an operating hotel, keep protective film on until handover, commission lit signs with the lighting designer and walk every route with your team.

Expert advice

Advice from our hotel projects team

Hotel jobs are won or lost in coordination. These are the points we raise at the first meeting with a pre-opening team or interior designer.

Bring the sign maker in before the stone goes up

The cheapest moment to fix a lobby sign is before the wall is finished. A heavy brass or stone-backed feature logo needs a plywood or steel backing plate inside the gypsum, and a lit logo needs a power point and an access route to its driver. If we receive the interior elevations at design stage, we mark fixing and cable positions for the other trades. If we arrive after the walls are handed over, the same sign can mean cutting into finished stone.

Size the canopy name from the gate, not the canopy

Guests first read the hotel name from the driveway entrance or the road, often 30 to 100 m away. At roughly 25 mm of letter height per 3 m of distance, that points to letters of 250 to 800 mm. Inside, people read directional signs from 5 to 15 m, so 40 to 75 mm cap height is usually enough. Oversized lobby signs make a hotel feel like an airport; undersized canopy letters vanish behind the palms.

Keep each directional sign to five or six destinations

Every new outlet tends to be added to the nearest sign until it becomes a list nobody reads. We place signs at each decision point, the lobby threshold, the lift lobby and corridor turns, and hold each one to five or six destinations with a single pictogram set across the property. Anything that changes often, such as a restaurant concept or a ballroom name, goes on a slide-in strip.

Approve metal finishes at night as well as by day

Brass, bronze-look and PVD gold read differently under 2,700 K downlights than on a monitor or in a sunlit sample room. We mount the finish sample in the lobby and ask the designer to see it in the evening lighting scene too. Most hotel projects adjust something at this point, usually the metal tone or the text size, and changing one sample costs far less than remaking a whole family.

Give event signage a home so it does not take over

Conferences and weddings bring easels, banners and printed notices that multiply until the entrance looks like an exhibition hall. A better answer is one digital event board at the ballroom foyer, set in a frame that matches the permanent hotel signage, plus agreed positions for temporary stands. We supply, frame and mount the screen; the screen itself is a manufacturer product.

Pricing

Hotel signage price in Dubai: what affects the cost

Hotel packages are quoted from the sign schedule rather than a price list. Send us floor plans, the brand manual or design intent and site photos, and we return an itemised quotation, usually within 24 hours for a defined scope, with fabrication, installation and approvals listed separately.

Number of sign types and quantities

A full package from driveway to guest floors can run to dozens of sign types. A complete schedule at the start avoids late additions that cost more to make on their own.

Materials and finishes

Lacquered brass, PVD stainless and stone cost more than painted aluminium or acrylic, and need careful finishing so every sign in the family matches.

Brand standards

International operators often fix exact typefaces, pictograms and construction details. Meeting them can mean extra samples, specific materials and more approval rounds.

Illumination

Lit canopy letters and backlit lobby features need LED modules, drivers and coordinated power points, usually agreed with the lighting designer and electrical contractor.

Integration with the fit-out

Signs set into stone, timber or glass depend on other trades. Changes made after walls are finished take longer and cost more to absorb.

Installation conditions

Night work in an operating hotel, boom lift access to a canopy and phased pre-opening programmes all affect crew size and installation time.

Approvals

Hotel signage approvals and compliance in the UAE

Exterior hotel signage, such as canopy letters, building crown names and driveway monuments, usually needs approval before installation from Dubai Municipality, the relevant municipality in Sharjah or Ajman, or the free-zone authority where the property sits. Our draftsmen prepare the shop drawings, elevations and bilingual artwork and follow the submission through. Requirements vary by emirate and by site, so we confirm them for your exact address at the survey.

Inside, fire exit, evacuation and assembly signage follows Dubai Civil Defence requirements and usually ISO 7010 pictograms, while accessibility guidance such as the Dubai Universal Design Code asks for good contrast, non-glare finishes, readable text sizes and consistent mounting heights at lifts and key rooms. We design these to sit within the hotel family where the rules allow, without weakening their visibility, and check the current requirement with your consultant.

One factory for every sign type

Exterior lit letters, lobby features, wayfinding and room signs are cut, routed, finished and wired in our Ajman factory, so the whole family is made to one standard.

Brand manuals followed closely

Our designers and draftsmen work from the operator's standards, adapt them to the building and set the Arabic as an equal partner to the English.

Samples before production

A full-size sign and finish panel are mounted in your lobby for approval, so tone, size and glare are agreed before the main run starts.

Fit-out coordination

One project manager attends coordination meetings, issues fixing positions to other trades and phases installation around your opening programme.

FAQ

Hotel Entrance & Lobby Signs questions we are asked most

How much does hotel signage cost in Dubai?

It depends on the number of sign types, the materials, the lighting and how closely the signs integrate with the fit-out. A wayfinding package in painted aluminium costs far less than a brass and stone family with halo-lit canopy letters. Send us the sign schedule or floor plans and the brand manual, and we will return an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours for a defined scope.

How long does a hotel signage package take?

It depends on the size of the sign family, the sample stage and how installation is phased, so we give you a realistic schedule with the quote rather than a standard figure. Exterior letters also need authority approval before they go up, and we build that permit stage into the programme. On pre-opening projects we programme deliveries with the fit-out contractor so signs arrive when the walls are ready.

Do hotel entrance signs need a permit in Dubai?

Usually, yes. Canopy letters, building names and driveway monuments generally need approval from Dubai Municipality or the relevant free-zone authority, and the master developer may add its own design criteria. Internal lobby signs normally need only operator and landlord sign-off. We prepare the drawings and submissions and confirm the current requirement for your address.

Can you work to an international hotel brand's signage manual?

Yes. Most branded properties come with a standards manual that fixes typefaces, pictograms, colours and construction. We build to it, propose local adaptations where the building or the Arabic requires them, and submit samples for the operator's approval before production. Where the manual has no Arabic typeface, we suggest one that pairs with the brand font.

Is brass or stainless steel better for hotel lobby signs?

Lacquered brass suits classic interiors and feels warm under low lighting, but it needs gentle cleaning to protect the lacquer. PVD-coated stainless steel gives a consistent gold, rose or black finish and copes better with busy lobbies and frequent wiping. We usually make a small sample of each and look at them in your actual lighting before the designer decides.

Do you make hotel signage in Arabic and English?

Yes, and in the UAE bilingual signs are normally expected. We set the Arabic as its own composition with matching weight and spacing rather than a word-for-word substitute, have every message reviewed by a native reader, and check the hotel's name against its trade licence for exterior signs.

Do you install hotel signs outside Dubai?

Yes. Our crews install across all seven emirates, including Abu Dhabi city hotels and resorts in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, from our factory in Ajman. The site survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and for properties further afield we arrange the survey with your project team.

Can you update signs when an outlet is renamed or the hotel rebrands?

Yes. Where we planned changeable strips, a new restaurant name is a small reprint. For a full rebrand we replace signs in phases, floor by floor, reusing fixings where possible so guests see as little disruption as possible. We keep the drawings of every sign we make, so replacements match the originals.
