Freestanding Letters and 3D Logo Letters in Dubai & the UAE

Bayan Signage manufactures freestanding letters and logos for exhibition stands, product launches, weddings and outdoor activations across the UAE. Each letter is CNC-cut, braced, finished and, if lit, wired and light-tested in our Ajman factory, then push-tested for stability before delivery, so your photo spot stays standing when the crowd arrives.

Freestanding Logo Letters in the UAE

Freestanding letters that stand up to a crowd

Freestanding letters are three-dimensional letters, numbers or logos that stand on the floor or a plinth instead of fixing to a wall. They range from knee-high initials at a wedding stage to brand names nearly 2 m tall at the front of an exhibition stand. Exhibitors, event agencies, brands launching products, wedding planners and community event organisers use them as a photo spot and a landmark that people recognise from any angle.

A freestanding letter looks simple and is not. Guests lean on it, children climb it and bags swing into it, and a tall, narrow letter such as I or L tips easily if its base is as thin as the letter. The finish matters too: gloss and mirror faces throw flash back into cameras. We engineer each letter for stability first, with hidden bases and bracing, then choose a finish for the light and photography.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE, and our Ajman factory has made 3D letters since 2016. CNC routers cut acrylic, foam, ACP and aluminium to ±0.1 mm, laser cutters handle metal and wood details, and LED assembly and illumination testing are done in-house. The team that builds your freestanding letters delivers them, sets them out and checks them before guests arrive.

Our process

How we make freestanding letters in our Ajman factory

  1. Brief, venue and access check

We confirm the venue, floor space, door and lift sizes, and whether the letters go indoors or out. Site visits are free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Design and stability drawing

Our designers set letter height, spacing and finish; our draftsmen add bases, bracing and joints, widening narrow letters or joining them so the word stands as one unit.

  3. CNC cutting and assembly

Faces and sides are CNC-routed from foam, PVC, acrylic or aluminium to ±0.1 mm, then assembled around internal bracing that keeps faces flat and carries the ballast.

  4. Finishing and lighting

Letters are painted, wrapped or faced in mirror acrylic. Lit letters get LED modules or neon flex, wired to low-voltage drivers and run at full brightness in our test area.

  5. Push test and inspection

Every letter gets a firm push at shoulder height. If it rocks, we add ballast or widen the base until it does not, then check finish and colour against the artwork.

  6. Delivery and set-out

Letters travel wrapped, are placed to the layout drawing, levelled and ballasted on site, with cables routed safely, and protective films come off just before guests arrive.

Expert advice

Advice from our estimating team

Freestanding letters fail in predictable ways: they do not fit through the door, they tip, or they ruin the photos. These are the checks we make on every order.

Measure doors and lifts before choosing height

Venue service doors, corridors and lifts are often only about 2 m high and 1 to 1.5 m wide. A 2 m letter may have to travel lying down, or be made in sections that bolt together on site. Send us the loading bay and route details early. Discovering on build-up night that the letter A does not fit the service lift is an expensive surprise.

Give narrow letters wider feet

I, L, T and the number 1 tip far more easily than O or M. We give narrow letters a base plate at least a quarter of their height deep, or join neighbouring letters with hidden steel connections so the whole word stands as one unit. For busy family events and entrances, a joined word on a shared base is the most stable layout of all.

Choose the finish for the camera

Freestanding letters are photographed more than they are read. Gloss and mirror finishes reflect flash and stage lights, creating hot spots that hide the letter. Where the letters are mainly a photo backdrop, choose matt colours, or plan the lighting so it hits the letters from the side. Mirror acrylic works best indoors under controlled, warm light.

Leave space in front for the photo

Allow a clear area of at least 1 to 2 m in front of the letters so people can stand and be photographed without blocking the aisle, and 50 to 150 mm between letters for a clean look. On a crowded stand, letters set right on the aisle line cause queues; set them back slightly and the photo spot works without stopping traffic.

Plan power before the floor is laid

Illuminated letters need a power point close to their final position. On exhibition stands, cables should run under the carpet or along the base before flooring goes down, not across a walkway taped to the floor. Tell us the lighting plan when you book the stand electrics, and we will mark the outlet position on the drawing.

Pricing

Freestanding letters price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote from your logo, letter height and venue. Send those with the event dates, and you will usually receive an itemised quote within 24 hours.

Height and letter count

Taller letters and longer words use more material and labour. A five-letter word at 1.5 m costs far more than a two-letter monogram at 0.8 m.

Material and build

Foam and PVC are economical for short-term use. Aluminium bodies and mirror acrylic faces cost more but last longer and look more premium.

Finish

Simple paint or vinyl is quickest. Mirror acrylic, metallic paint, gloss lacquer and printed graphics add time, especially on complex logos.

Illumination

LED modules or neon flex add lighting parts, wiring, testing and internal structure compared with unlit letters.

Logo complexity

Block letters are quickest. Logos with thin strokes, fine detail or unusual shapes take longer to cut, brace and stabilise.

Transport and set-out

Large letters need vans, wrapping and handling crews. Night delivery, sectional builds and outdoor ballast add time and cost.

Approvals

Freestanding letters: venue rules and outdoor approval

At exhibitions, freestanding letters count as part of your stand, so they must meet the exhibitor manual: maximum stand heights, floor loading, fire safety requirements for materials and electrical rules for lit letters. Hotels and venues add their own rules on delivery times, protecting floors and keeping exits clear. We check the current manual or venue guidelines and design the letters to comply.

Outdoors, letters on a public beach, park or roadside may need approval from the landlord, the community or the municipality, and tall letters in exposed locations need bracing and ballast designed for wind. Our draftsmen prepare the drawings when an approval is needed. Requirements vary by site, so we confirm them for your event.

FAQ

Freestanding Logo Letters questions we are asked most

How much do freestanding letters cost in Dubai?

It depends on the letter height and count, the material, the finish, lighting and transport. A pair of painted foam initials costs a fraction of a 2 m illuminated brand name in aluminium. Send your logo, the height you want and the venue, and we will usually send an itemised quote within 24 hours.

How tall should freestanding event letters be?

Most are 0.6 to 1.2 m for weddings and indoor events, and 1.2 to 2 m for exhibitions and outdoor activations. The right height depends on the space, the venue's access route and the effect you want. Taller letters need wider bases and more ballast, which adds weight to every move.

Are freestanding letters stable enough for crowds?

They should be, if built correctly. We use hidden weighted bases at least a quarter of the letter's height deep, internal bracing and connections between narrow letters, then push-test every letter before delivery. Joined words on a shared base are the most stable option for busy entrances.

Can freestanding letters be used outdoors?

Yes, with the right build. Outdoor letters are usually fabricated aluminium with powder-coated finishes and heavier ballast. In windy beach or desert locations, lower letters or extra bracing are safer. Foam and PVC letters are best kept indoors or used for a single sheltered evening.

Can freestanding letters be illuminated?

Yes. Options include LED modules behind acrylic faces and LED neon flex outlines. Lit letters need a power point close to their position, low-voltage drivers and a safe cable route. Every lit letter is run at full brightness in our factory before it is delivered.

How long does it take to make freestanding letters?

It depends on size, material and lighting. Simple painted letters are at the quicker end, while large aluminium, mirror-faced and illuminated letters need more fabrication and testing, so we give you a realistic schedule with the quote and work back from your build-up date. Venue delivery slots also need planning, so share your event date and venue details as early as possible.

Can we reuse our letters at the next event?

Yes, especially aluminium and well-finished PVC letters. Store them upright in covers or crates in a dry space, away from hot vehicles. Many exhibitors reuse brand letters at every show, and some add swappable panels, such as a year or hashtag, while the main letters stay the same.

Freestanding letters or a hanging sign: which is better?

Freestanding letters create a photo spot and make your stand recognisable up close; a hanging sign helps visitors find the stand from across the hall. They work well together on island stands. On small booths with no rigging allowed, freestanding letters are often the only option for bold 3D branding.
