Hospital Room Signs for Wards in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman

Bayan Signage manufactures patient and hospital room signs for wards, maternity units, day surgery and long-stay wings from its Ajman factory. We build the room number, bed identification and status holders as one system, test every sample under night-time corridor lighting and install on live wards in short, planned windows.

Patient Room Signs in the UAE

Hospital room signs that work at 3 a.m.

Hospital room signs identify inpatient rooms and the beds inside them: the number on the corridor wall, the bed letters or numbers in a shared bay, and often a holder for information the ward team changes. They are used around the clock by porters, agency nurses, paramedics bringing a transfer, and relatives arriving for the first time with a room number on their phone. Hospitals, specialist centres, maternity and rehabilitation facilities in the UAE all need them, and they need them to stay accurate while patients are admitted, moved and discharged several times a day.

The systems that last separate the fixed from the changing. The room number and wing code are permanent, high contrast, matt and sometimes raised; status cards slide into a flush channel below; patient details stay off the corridor side altogether. What goes wrong is easy to predict: glossy panels that vanish under dimmed night lighting, ward-invented colour stickers, exposed screw heads that trap dirt. Our factory controls each of these, from the CNC-cut module to the printed face and the sealed edges.

Bayan Signage has fabricated signs in Ajman since 2016 as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE for 15 years. On healthcare projects our draftsmen turn your room schedule into a numbered sign schedule, our designers set Arabic and English at matching weight, and the crew that assembled the modules installs them, coordinating with your infection prevention and facilities teams on every live ward.

Our process

How we deliver hospital room signs in our Ajman factory

  1. Numbering review and survey

Before any artwork, our draftsmen check the room schedule against the floor plans for a consistent floor, wing and room logic, then survey doors, wall linings and ceiling heights on site.

  2. Sign schedule and layout

Every room, bed and flag sign is listed with its number, location and mounting height. Your facilities and nursing teams sign off one schedule, which becomes the reference for production and installation.

  3. Night-light sample

We make a full room module and a bed number, then test them in your corridor with the night lighting on. Contrast and glare are judged there, not in a bright meeting room.

  4. CNC cutting and printing

Panels and raised numerals are CNC-routed to ±0.1 mm from solid acrylic or aluminium, faces are UV-printed, and every edge is polished and sealed before assembly so cleaning fluid cannot creep in.

  5. Inspection against the schedule

Each sign is checked against its schedule line for number, spelling in both scripts and holder fit, then packed and labelled by floor and room so installation follows the plan.

  6. Live-ward installation

We install in agreed windows, under your infection control permit, with dust control and quiet tools. Ceiling signs are coordinated with lights, sprinklers and curtain tracks.

Expert advice

Advice from our healthcare signage team

Hospital room signs are repetitive, so a small mistake is repeated hundreds of times. These are the decisions we push to settle first.

Fix the numbering logic before the artwork

Room numbers assigned in construction order leave porters and paramedics guessing. A logic of floor, wing, then room, with odd numbers on one side and even on the other, lets a stranger find room 3B-214 without asking. Renumbering after opening means changing every sign, floor plan and system record, so we review the schedule with you before a single panel is cut.

Keep names off the corridor

A printed patient name outside a room exposes identity to everyone walking past and has to be reprinted every admission. Most hospitals now direct visitors by room number from reception. If your clinical team wants a consultant name or initials at the door, we fit a hinged privacy cover or face the holder into the room instead.

Add flag signs on long corridors

On a corridor longer than about 25 m, wall signs beside doors are invisible until you are level with them. Projecting flag signs every few doors, mounted with at least 2,100 mm clear underneath, let staff and visitors count down the numbers as they walk. Drip stands and tall visitors pass safely below.

Size bed numbers for the doorway

Bed identification is read by a nurse standing at the door of a four-bed bay, not by the patient. That is 3 to 5 m away, often past a drawn curtain, so a bed letter of around 75 to 100 mm on a ceiling-hung or high wall panel works far better than a small label on the bed-head that disappears when the bed is raised.

Pricing

Hospital room sign price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote hospital room signs from your room schedule, so there is no fixed price per sign. Send the floor plans or a room list and a few corridor photos, and you will usually receive an itemised quote within 24 hours.

Number of rooms and beds

Room signs repeat, which keeps unit cost down on large wards. Many different module sizes in small quantities cost more per sign.

Raised numerals

CNC-cut acrylic numerals need extra cutting, bonding and alignment checks on every module, so they add cost compared with flat printed numbers.

Changeable parts

Status channels, magnetic faces and privacy covers add components and assembly time to each module.

Flag and ceiling signs

Projecting and ceiling-hung signs need brackets, ceiling coordination and longer installation time above finished ceilings.

Finish and cleanability

Matt anti-glare faces and sealed edges cost slightly more than standard gloss acrylic but last much longer under ward cleaning.

Live-ward installation

Occupied wards need infection control permits, dust control, escorted access and short work windows, all of which affect labour.

Approvals

Hospital room signs, accessibility and privacy rules

Interior hospital room signs rarely need a municipality permit, but they are part of what facility inspections look at. Health regulators such as the DHA, DoH and MOHAP typically review accessibility, wayfinding and patient privacy alongside clinical standards, and accreditation surveys look for consistent room identification. We follow your hospital sign standard and confirm the current expectations for your facility type.

In Dubai, the Universal Design Code shapes expectations for high-contrast, consistently mounted room signs, and other emirates and many private operators follow similar principles. Exit and evacuation signage on the same corridors falls under Dubai Civil Defence or the local authority. Requirements vary by building, so we check what applies before artwork is approved.

Our own factory

CNC routing, UV printing and assembly happen at our Ajman factory, and you are welcome to visit while your ward signs are in production.

Draftsmen who read plans

Our technical draftsmen build the sign schedule from your floor plans, so numbering errors are caught on paper rather than on the corridor wall.

Experience on live sites

Our installation crews work in short planned windows, follow site safety rules and keep noise and dust to a minimum around patients.

One project manager

A single contact holds the schedule from survey to handover, through phased openings and for the extra rooms a later wing adds.

FAQ

Patient Room Signs questions we are asked most

How much do hospital room signs cost in Dubai?

It depends on the number of rooms, whether you want printed or raised numbers, the changeable components and the ceiling or flag signs involved. A ward of identical printed modules costs far less per room than a mix of raised-number, privacy and ceiling-hung signs. Send us the room list and corridor photos for an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Should patient names appear on room signs?

Usually not on the corridor side. Many hospitals keep names off room signs completely and direct visitors by room number, which protects patient privacy. Where a clinical team wants initials or a consultant name at the door, a privacy cover or a holder facing into the room is the safer compromise. We build to your policy.

What makes a hospital room number easy to read?

Contrast, size and a matt finish matter most. A dark number on a light panel, or the reverse, at 40 to 60 mm reads from several metres, and matt faces stay legible under dimmed night lighting. Codes such as the Dubai Universal Design Code and many operators' own standards shape these choices, so we confirm what applies to your project before artwork is approved.

How do we show isolation or fall-risk status at the door?

Most hospitals add a flush slide-in or magnetic channel below the room number that holds a short, approved set of status cards. Ward staff swap cards as status changes. The card designs and meanings come from your clinical policy; our infection control signs page covers precaution signs in detail.

How long does a ward signage package take?

Production starts once the sign schedule and sample are approved, and we give you a realistic schedule with the quote, based on the number of floors and module types. Installation is phased around bed availability and infection control permits, so we agree the programme with your facilities team at the start.

Can new signs keep our existing room numbers?

Yes. We work from your current room schedule and can match existing fonts, colours and module sizes, or introduce a new design with the same numbers. A refurbishment is a good moment to review numbering, but changing numbers affects plans and hospital systems, so that decision stays with you.

Can you replace damaged or missing room signs individually?

Yes. We keep the drawings and artwork for every sign schedule we produce, so a single module, status channel or bed number can be remade to match the rest of the ward. We supply hospitals across all seven emirates from our Ajman factory, and site surveys are free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
