Office Door Signs in the UAE

Office door signs that keep up with your team

Office door signs identify cabins, rooms and departments, usually with a room name or number and often a person's name and job title. In most UAE offices they go on in the last week of the fit-out, which is why so many end up as a sticker on the glass or a generic acrylic plate. We make them for law firms, consultancies, clinics, government-facing service centres and start-ups, on solid timber doors, fire-rated corridor doors and full-height glass partitions.

An office door sign is also the sign that changes most after handover. People move cabins, get promoted, leave. A system with a fixed panel for the room number and a slide-in insert for the name absorbs those changes for the cost of a sheet of paper; a fixed printed or metal plate needs remaking every time. We decide that with you at the start, size the insert window for your longest name and title in Arabic and English, and supply the template.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, a UAE company with 15 years in the market, and our factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman has been running since 2016. Acrylic and aluminium are CNC-routed to ±0.1 mm, metal plates are laser-cut, prints and vinyl are produced in-house, and the people who make your office door signs are the people who fix them to the doors.

Our process

How we make office door signs in our Ajman factory

  1. Door schedule from the fit-out drawings

We mark every door on the floor plan, record its type (solid, glass or fire-rated) and the latch side, and list the text for each. On site we confirm the schedule in a free survey in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman.

  2. Design and bilingual text check

Our designers set one layout for the whole floor, then check Arabic names and official Arabic job titles with you. The longest name goes on the approval drawing, so the insert window is proven before cutting.

  3. Cutting and printing

Acrylic panels and aluminium plates are CNC-routed to ±0.1 mm with polished or radiused edges, stainless plates are laser-cut, and text is UV-printed in one run, so every sign on the floor is identical in size, colour and corner radius.

  4. Printing and inserts

Text is printed or cut in vinyl in-house, inserts are printed from the template, and each sign is labelled with its door number and checked against the schedule before packing.

  5. Installation with a template

Glass and door surfaces are cleaned with isopropyl alcohol so the tape bonds properly. A positioning template sets the same height and offset on every door, and each sign is ticked off the schedule.

  6. Insert template handover

Your office manager gets an editable insert template with the right font, margins and Arabic layout, plus blank strips, so a name changes in seconds and still matches.

Expert advice

Advice from our fit-out team

These are the questions we ask office managers and fit-out contractors before a single panel is cut. The answers decide the system, not the other way round.

Put names on doors only where people stay put

In a hot-desking team or a department that reshuffles every quarter, personal names on fixed plates go out of date within months. Use room numbers or functions on most doors, and add names only through slide-in inserts or on senior cabins where occupancy is stable. A good test: if more than a third of the names would change in a year, use inserts everywhere.

Never put clear on clear

A clear acrylic sign on a clear glass partition is almost invisible, because the room behind shows straight through the text. Sit the sign on a frosted manifestation band, usually between 900 and 1,500 mm, or give it an opaque or frosted backing. The band also hides the adhesive and stops people walking into the glass.

Check fire ratings before anyone drills

Many corridor doors in UAE offices are fire-rated, and screwing a sign through the leaf can compromise the door's certification at the next inspection. We bond signs on rated doors, or move them to the wall on the latch side, and confirm with the fit-out contractor or facility manager before installation.

Keep paper inserts away from west-facing glass

Perimeter cabins with full-height glazing get strong afternoon sun, and paper inserts fade or yellow within a year. For those doors we use printed film or aluminium strips, or fixed acrylic with UV-stable print. Internal doors along the corridor can keep paper inserts, which keeps the cost down where it does not matter.

Get the official Arabic title, not a translation

Many job titles in government-facing and semi-government offices have an official Arabic form that differs from a literal translation, and Arabic name spellings vary from person to person. We ask for names as they appear on Emirates ID or business cards, and titles from HR, before printing.

Pricing

Office door signs price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote from your door schedule, so there is no fixed price list. Send the number of doors, the text or a sample, and a photo of a typical door, and we usually return an itemised quote within 24 hours, with signs and installation shown separately.

Material and finish

Printed acrylic is the most economical. Brushed aluminium and frosted acrylic cost a little more, and laser-cut stainless with raised letters adds noticeably more per sign.

Changeable inserts

An insert system needs a recessed window and a template, which adds design and machining time but saves the cost of new signs later.

Quantity and sizes

Thirty identical signs are efficient to produce. A different size or layout for each grade or department adds set-up and design time.

Door types

Glass doors may need a back patch or manifestation band; solid doors may need screws or stand-offs depending on fire rating and finish.

Installation timing

Fitting during the fit-out alongside other trades is quickest. Returning to an occupied office often means early or late working to avoid disruption.

Approvals

Office door signs: landlord rules and accessibility

Indoor office door signs do not normally need a municipality permit. The rules that apply come from the landlord and the building: many managed towers, business centres and free-zone buildings limit drilling into doors or fixing to glass, and fire-rated doors must not be compromised. We check the building's fit-out guidelines and agree fixing methods with your contractor or facility manager before installation.

Offices that receive the public, and buildings designed to the Dubai Universal Design Code, are usually expected to provide high-contrast, non-glare room identification at a consistent height, with signs on the latch-side wall where doors open outward and text large enough to read from the corridor. Requirements depend on the building type, so we confirm what applies to your office at the survey.

FAQ

Office Door Signs questions we are asked most

How much do office door signs cost in Dubai?

It depends on the material, the number of doors, whether names change through inserts, and the door types. Printed acrylic signs for a floor of identical cabins cost far less per sign than laser-cut stainless plates in several sizes. Send us the door count, sample text and a photo, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

What material is best for office door signs?

For most offices, acrylic or brushed aluminium. Acrylic takes printed colour well and comes clear, frosted or coloured; brushed aluminium gives a more corporate look. Engraved brushed stainless or brass, or stainless with raised letters, suits senior cabins where names rarely change. The right choice depends on how often names change and on your interior finishes.

Can we change the names ourselves?

Yes, if the signs use slide-in inserts. We supply a template so you can print new names on your office printer and slide them in within seconds. Fixed acrylic or metal signs need a new sign, which we produce from the artwork we keep on file, so the replacement matches the rest of the floor.

How are door signs fixed to glass partitions?

Usually with clear VHB tape after cleaning the glass with isopropyl alcohol, with a matching vinyl patch on the inside to hide the adhesive. Stand-offs through the glass are only possible where the holes were planned into the partitions before they were made, because finished partition glass cannot be drilled on site.

Should the sign go on the door or the wall?

On glass doors, the sign usually goes on the door within the frosted band. On solid doors either works, but the wall beside the latch side is often better, because the sign stays visible when the door is open. Accessibility guidance in public buildings generally prefers the latch-side wall.

Do office door signs need Arabic?

Private offices can choose, but most organisations that deal with the public, and all government-facing offices, use Arabic and English. We set both scripts as one design, check name spellings and official Arabic titles with you, and keep the same layout across every door.

How long does it take to make office door signs?

It depends on the quantity, the materials and how quickly names are confirmed, and we give you a realistic schedule with the quote. Laser-cut stainless, custom shapes and large quantities involve more production steps than printed acrylic. Collecting and checking every name and title is often the slowest step, so it helps to start that early in the fit-out.

Do you install office door signs outside Dubai?

Yes. Our crews install across all seven emirates from our factory in Ajman, including Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and we can work early or late in occupied offices to avoid disturbing your team.
