Pharmacy Signs in the UAE

Pharmacy signage that helps people find you at night

Pharmacy signage is a small family of signs that work together: a fascia carrying the licensed pharmacy name, usually as illuminated letters or a lightbox; a green cross, the symbol people actually scan for, mounted at right angles to the frontage; and glazing graphics for opening hours, the 24-hour message if it applies, and delivery or insurance details. It serves neighbourhood pharmacies, 24-hour branches on main roads, clinic pharmacies and pharmacy groups refreshing many branches at once.

A pharmacy sign has one job that matters more than branding: helping someone who needs medicine find you fast, often at night and often from a moving car. That makes the cross more important than it usually gets credit for: its size, its height above the pavement, whether it clears trees and neighbouring signs, and whether it is lit only while you are open. We fabricate the fascia and lit crosses in our Ajman factory, test every cross at full brightness, and plan its position from both directions of approach.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE market, and our factory at Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman has made storefront signs since 2016. Our draftsmen check the pharmacy name against your licences in Arabic and English before anything is cut, and our electricians put the fascia and cross on one timer so they follow your real opening hours.

Our process

How we make pharmacy signage in our Ajman factory

  1. Survey from both approaches

We walk or drive the street in both directions to see where the cross becomes visible, check the wall behind the cross position for a solid fixing and locate power. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Licence check and design

Our draftsmen match the wording to your pharmacy and trade licences in Arabic and English, then designers size the name and cross for the viewing distance and prepare the permit drawing.

  3. Fascia and cross fabrication

Faces are CNC-routed, returns bent and powder-coated, and lit acrylic crosses are built with LED modules spaced for an even green face. Programmable LED crosses are supplied complete and integrated by our electricians.

  4. Bracket and bench test

The projecting bracket is welded from steel and finished, and the cross and fascia are run at full brightness in our test area, with any programmable cross set to a steady or slow mode.

  5. Installation

Brackets are fixed with chemical anchors into concrete or through-bolted to structure, the cross is hung and levelled, then the fascia goes up and both are wired to one driver box and timer.

  6. Glazing and night check

Window vinyl is applied last on cleaned glass. We check the cross and fascia after dark, set the timer to your hours and hand over the warranty document.

Expert advice

Advice from our estimating team

Pharmacy fronts have a few rules that matter more than any font or colour choice. These are the ones we raise at every pharmacy survey.

Project the cross, do not flatten it

A cross fixed flat on the fascia is only visible from directly in front, but almost everyone approaches along the street. Mounted at right angles on a bracket, double-sided, the same cross is visible from both directions. A 600 mm cross is recognisable from roughly 50 to 70 m; 800 to 1,000 mm suits main roads and frontages set back behind parking. Keep the bottom at least 2.5 m above the pavement, clear of people and delivery vans.

Check sightlines past trees and neighbours

Street trees, arcade columns and the projecting sign next door can hide a cross completely from one direction. At survey we stand where a driver would first look for you, typically 50 to 100 m back, and adjust the cross height or bracket length so it clears every obstruction. Five minutes on the pavement saves a sign nobody can see.

Tie the cross to your real hours

A lit cross is a promise that you are open. Leaving it on after closing sends customers to a locked door at 1 am and damages trust in the brand. Put the cross and fascia on one timer set to your actual hours, update it in Ramadan, and if you advertise 24 hours, make sure the sign changes or switches off the day that stops being true.

Set programmable crosses to a calm mode

LED pixel crosses usually arrive set to fast, flashing animations. Those are the modes that bring complaints from neighbours and questions from inspectors, and many authorities restrict flashing near roads. A steady green cross, or one with a slow pulse, is just as visible and looks far more trustworthy. We set the mode before the cross leaves our factory.

Keep the counter visible

Windows covered in product posters hide the pharmacist and make a late-night pharmacy feel unsafe. Keep glazing graphics to the name, hours, services and safety bands at about 800 to 1,000 mm above floor level. Health authorities also regulate advertising of medicines and health claims, so product promotions on the glass can cause problems of their own.

Pricing

Pharmacy sign price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We quote each pharmacy frontage from its own drawing. Send a photo of the frontage, rough sizes, your licence name and any logo, and we usually send an itemised quote within 24 hours covering each sign, installation and permits.

Type of cross

A lit acrylic cross is the economical option. A programmable LED pixel cross costs more for its panels, controller and brightness, but it is far more visible in daylight.

Fascia method

A lightbox is usually cheaper than individual front-lit letters on the same frontage, while letters look more modern and are often required in newer buildings.

Bracket and wall

A projecting cross needs a strong steel bracket into concrete or structure. Cladding, glass frontages or weak walls need extra framing.

Number of frontages

Corner pharmacies often need two fascias and sometimes two crosses, which adds fabrication and installation time but wins customers from both roads.

Glazing package

Hours, door signs and safety bands are small items; a full branded glazing scheme adds design and installation time.

Permits and drawings

Outdoor and projecting signs usually need approval, so drawings and submissions are part of the scope and listed separately.

Approvals

Pharmacy signage permits and licence rules in the UAE

Fascia signs and projecting crosses usually need approval from Dubai Municipality, Sharjah Municipality, Ajman Municipality or the free-zone authority for your area, and the landlord's consent where a projecting sign extends over a shared pavement. Projecting signs need drawings showing size, height above the pavement and bracket design, and some areas limit animation or brightness near roads. We prepare these drawings and follow the submission through.

The pharmacy name on the sign normally has to match the licence issued by the relevant health authority and your trade licence, in both Arabic and English, and health authorities also regulate how medicines and health claims are advertised. We keep signs to the name, cross, hours and services, and confirm the current requirements for your exact site and emirate before fabrication.

FAQ

Pharmacy Signs questions we are asked most

How much does pharmacy signage cost in Dubai?

It depends on the cross type, the fascia method, the bracket and wall, how many frontages you have and the glazing package. A lit acrylic cross with a lightbox fascia is the economical end; a programmable pixel cross with front-lit letters on a corner unit costs more. Send us photos and your licence name, and we will send an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Does a pharmacy sign have to be green?

The green cross is the widely recognised pharmacy symbol in the UAE and almost every pharmacy uses it. The fascia can follow your brand colours, but the cross is what people search for, so we recommend keeping it green. We confirm whether any current authority guidance applies to your location.

What size should a pharmacy cross be?

For most neighbourhood pharmacies, 600 to 800 mm across works well and is recognisable from about 50 m or more. Pharmacies on main roads or set back behind parking usually benefit from 800 to 1,000 mm. The cross should stand out from neighbouring signs without overwhelming the frontage.

Are animated LED pharmacy crosses allowed?

Programmable crosses are common, but many authorities and landlords restrict fast flashing or animation, especially near roads where it can distract drivers. Steady or slow modes are generally the safer choice. We check the current rules for your site and set the cross to a suitable mode before installation, so it is compliant from the first night.

Do I need permission for a projecting pharmacy cross?

Usually yes. Projecting signs typically need municipality approval and landlord consent, because they extend beyond the building line over the pavement. The drawings show size, height above the pavement, bracket design and lighting. We prepare them and handle the submission, and the cross is only fabricated once approval is in hand.

Can the sign show that we are open 24 hours?

Yes. Common options are a lit 24-hour panel beside the entrance, an LED neon sign in the window, or a message on a programmable cross. If your hours might change, a programmable cross or a separate panel that can be switched off avoids sending customers to a closed door at night.

How long does pharmacy signage take?

It depends on the package and on how long the permit takes, so we give you a realistic schedule with the quote rather than a generic promise. Tell us your planned opening date at the start. We usually begin the authority submission while the design is being finalised, so approval and fabrication run side by side and the fascia, cross and window graphics are ready together.

Do you make pharmacy signs outside Dubai?

Yes. We make every sign in our Ajman factory and install across all seven emirates, including Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. The site survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and pharmacy groups can use one standard design across every branch.
