Villa Number Signs in the UAE

Villa number signs that a stranger can find at night

Villa number signs are the cut, plated or illuminated numbers on a boundary wall or gate pillar that identify a house from the road, often with the family name or street name alongside. Owners in gated communities, landlords letting villas by the night, property managers and developers handing over new phases all need them. In communities where every villa looks alike, a clear number is often the only thing separating one gate from the next.

A villa number has one job: to let a taxi, a courier or an ambulance crew find the right gate after dark. Many beautiful numbers fail at it because of size, contrast or a pillar lamp shining straight into the driver's eye. We design from the street: our team stands where the car will be, sometimes in the evening, and sizes the digits, chooses the contrast and plans the lighting from that position.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has 15 years in the UAE market, and our Ajman factory has made signs since 2016. Laser-cut stainless, CNC-routed aluminium and acrylic, powder coating, LED assembly and illumination testing all happen in-house. The crew that builds your villa number sign also installs it, and outdoor numbers carry a 5-year warranty on LEDs, powder coat and structure.

Our process

How we make villa number signs in our Ajman factory

  1. Survey from the road

We measure the distance from the road to the pillar, check the wall finish and colour, locate power and note the gate lamp. The site visit is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Design and full-size template

Our designers set digit height, stroke width and spacing for that distance, then print a paper template you can hold on the pillar before anything is cut.

  3. Laser and CNC cutting

Stainless digits are laser-cut and returns formed for 3D numbers; aluminium plates and acrylic faces are CNC-routed to ±0.1 mm so digits and plates fit exactly.

  4. LED fitting and testing

Lit numbers get IP65 modules spaced for even light, then run at full brightness in our test area together with the photocell before they are sealed.

  5. Finishing and inspection

Plates and returns are powder-coated or brushed, and each sign is checked against the approved artwork for size, finish and light before dispatch.

  6. Installation and night check

Studs are set in resin, cable runs to a shaded driver box inside the boundary, and we check the number from the road by day and again after dark.

Expert advice

Advice from our estimating team

Most villa numbers we replace were the right shape in the wrong size, colour or position. These are the checks we make before we draw anything.

Size the digits for the road, not the door

Roughly 25 mm of number height for every 3 m of distance gives comfortable reading. A pillar 12 m from the driver needs digits of about 100 to 125 mm; a gate set back behind a parking bay at 20 m wants 150 to 200 mm. Stroke width should be at least an eighth of the height, or the numbers look spidery at night. A 75 mm brass number on a deep setback is invisible from a car.

Contrast beats material

Brushed stainless on grey render or beige digits on sandstone look refined from the doorstep and disappear from the street. Put light numbers on dark walls and dark numbers on light walls, or add a contrasting plate. We photograph the pillar at the survey and mock the numbers onto it so you can judge contrast before choosing a finish.

Move the gate lamp, not the number

A bright pillar lamp at eye level beside the digits is the most common reason a good number cannot be read at night: the driver's eye adjusts to the lamp and everything around it goes dark. Lighting the number from within, or moving the lamp above it, usually fixes the problem for less than the cost of bigger digits.

Use 316 stainless near water

Villas near the coast, and gate pillars splashed every evening by garden sprinklers, stain 304 stainless and plated steel within months. In those locations we specify 316 stainless, powder-coated aluminium or sealed brass-finish. It costs a little more at the start and keeps the number clean for years.

Sign the corner twice

On a corner plot, visitors often approach from the side street and see only the blank flank of the wall. A second, matching number facing the main approach saves taxis and couriers from circling the block. Where the community allows, a small street name or location code line under the digits helps first-time visitors further.

Pricing

Villa number sign price in Dubai: what affects the cost

We price villa numbers from a drawing, not a list. Send a photo of the pillar, the number and any name text, and you will usually receive an itemised quote within 24 hours.

Material and finish

Flat-cut aluminium or acrylic is economical. Brushed or mirror stainless, PVD colours, 316 grade and brass-finish add material and polishing time.

Flat or 3D build

Flat-cut digits are cheapest. Built-up 3D numbers cost more, and cost rises with height because returns run around the whole outline of each digit.

Illumination

LED modules, sealed digits, a driver and a photocell are usually the largest single addition, especially if power has to be brought to the gate.

Plate and name line

A contrasting plate, a family name in Arabic and English or a crest adds material and design time compared with digits alone.

Number of signs

A second set for a corner plot or matching numbers for a cluster of villas shares design and set-up cost across the order.

Installation and electrical

Drilling stone pillars, drawing cable through an existing wall and working within community access hours all affect site time.

Approvals

Villa number sign rules in gated communities

A villa number does not usually need a municipality permit, but many master communities control what goes on a boundary wall. Some set the size, position and colour of the number; others supply a standard sign for every plot and only allow the finish to change. Illuminated or larger signs are the ones most often questioned. We confirm the current guidelines with your community before making anything that differs from the original.

Where approval is needed, our draftsmen prepare a simple drawing showing the size, materials, lighting and fixing for the community or developer to sign off. In Dubai, adding the Makani location number on a small line beneath the digits can help couriers and emergency services, where the community permits it. Rules vary, so we check them for your exact address.

Why Bayan Signage

Why homeowners choose Bayan Signage for villa number signs

Designed from the street

We size and position every villa number from the driver's seat, including a night check, rather than from a drawing of the pillar.

Made in our own factory

Laser cutting, CNC routing, powder coating, LED assembly and testing happen in Ajman, and you are welcome to visit during production.

5-year outdoor warranty

Outdoor villa numbers are covered for 5 years on LEDs, powder coat and structure, with a warranty document at handover.

Lighting that switches itself

Photocell control and a driver placed in a shaded, accessible box mean the number lights at dusk and is easy to service.

Community approvals handled

Our draftsmen prepare drawings for community or developer approval, so the sign does not have to come down later.

FAQ

Villa Number Signs questions we are asked most

How much does a villa number sign cost in Dubai?

It depends on the material, the size, whether the digits are flat-cut or 3D, the lighting and the installation. Flat-cut aluminium numbers cost far less than halo-lit 316 stainless digits with a name line and new cabling to the gate. Send a photo of the pillar and the text, and we will usually send an itemised quote within 24 hours.

How big should villa numbers be?

Most villa numbers read from the road need to be 100 to 200 mm tall, with 150 mm a good default for a pillar 10 to 15 m from a passing car. Use about 25 mm of height for every 3 m of distance, keep strokes bold, and make sure the colour contrasts with the wall.

Should villa numbers be illuminated?

Ideally, yes. A lit number is far easier for deliveries, guests and emergency services to find at night. Halo-lit or front-lit digits are the cleanest solution, and a photocell turns them on at dusk automatically. Where there is no power at the gate, reflective numbers catch headlights without any electricity.

What material is best for villa numbers in the UAE?

For most inland villas, brushed 304 stainless or powder-coated aluminium works well. Near the sea, or where sprinklers wet the wall, use 316 stainless, aluminium or sealed brass-finish. Acrylic suits front-lit numbers. Contrast with the wall matters more to readability than the metal itself, so we choose the two together.

Can I replace the developer's villa number in a gated community?

Often yes, but most communities have guidelines on size, position, colour and lighting, and some require approval before you change the original sign. We check the current guidelines and can prepare a drawing for approval before fabrication, so nothing has to be removed and remade later.

Can the family name go on the same sign as the number?

Yes. A combined plate with the number and the family name in Arabic, English or both is common. We size the number for drivers first and give the name a smaller line, so the house is found quickly and the name is read once guests reach the gate. We check Arabic spelling with you before cutting.

How long does a villa number sign take?

We give you a realistic schedule with the quote, and it starts from design approval. Lit numbers, PVD finishes and community approvals all add steps, so we build them into the programme from the start. Installation is planned together with any electrical work needed to bring power from the villa to the pillar.

What if one digit stops working, and which areas do you cover?

If one lit digit goes dark it is usually a single connector or LED string, and it can be repaired without replacing the whole sign. We keep the drawings for every sign we make. We install across all seven emirates, with a free site visit in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
