Cut, weeded and fitted in-house

Cut Vinyl Lettering in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman

Bayan Signage cuts vinyl lettering for shop windows, glass doors, vehicles and walls in its Ajman factory, then fits it with its own crew. We choose the film for the surface and the sun it faces, check every Arabic line against your trade licence, and cut long names in sections so the spacing stays true on the glass.

Cut Vinyl Lettering in the UAE

Vinyl lettering that looks painted on

Vinyl lettering is text or a simple logo cut from solid-colour self-adhesive film, with the waste around each letter peeled away so only the letters remain on the surface. On glass it looks signwritten, and the glass stays clear between the strokes. It is the usual choice for trade names on shop windows, door numbers, phone and website lines, opening hours, company names on vans and pickups, and short wall quotes in offices, clinics and cafes across Dubai and the northern emirates.

Two sets of cut letters can look identical on day one and very different a year later. Cheap monomeric film shrinks in UAE heat and leaves a dirty adhesive line around every stroke. Fine scripts tear during weeding. Arabic cut from a font that does not join correctly looks wrong to every Arabic reader on the street. We choose cast or polymeric film for exterior work, open up strokes that are too thin to cut, and have the Arabic checked by a native reader before any film is cut.

Bayan Signage has made signs in its Ajman factory since 2016 as the production arm of Bayan Advertising, which has worked in the UAE for 15 years. Lettering is cut, weeded and checked against the approved artwork in our own workshop, and the same crew fits it on site, so a 6 m name across a fascia arrives in sections that line up exactly. More than 500 clients across the UAE, many of them returning, order their window and vehicle lettering from us.

Our process

How we cut and fit vinyl lettering in our Ajman factory

  1. Measure and photograph the surface

We measure the glass, wall or vehicle panel, note frames, handles, rivets and curves, and photograph it from where customers will read it. The survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

  2. Prepare a cut-ready file

Our designers convert the logo to clean vector outlines, open up strokes too thin to cut, set Arabic and English as one composition and send a scaled mock-up on your photo.

  3. Cutting and weeding

The film is cut through the vinyl but not the liner, then weeded by hand, removing every waste piece including the centres of letters such as o and e and the counters in Arabic.

  4. Application tape and quality check

Weeded letters are masked with application tape so the spacing holds, then checked against the approved artwork for size, colour and spelling before they leave the workshop.

  5. Clean and position on site

The surface is cleaned with a blade and alcohol. Lettering is hinged with masking tape, checked with a level and viewed from the street before the liner comes off.

  6. Squeegee, release and inspect

We squeegee from the centre outwards, peel the application tape back slowly at a low angle, press out any bubbles and check every letter edge before handover.

Specification

Vinyl lettering specification: films and finishes

Film choice decides how long lettering lasts in the UAE sun. This is what we specify by default, and when we change it.

Expert advice

Advice from our vinyl workshop

Cut vinyl is simple to make and easy to get wrong. These are the points we raise as soon as a brief arrives.

Size the name for the car park, not the laptop

For lettering read from the pavement at 3 to 5 m, capitals of 60 to 100 mm for the trade name and 30 to 40 mm for secondary lines are a comfortable start. From a car park or across a service road at 15 to 20 m, the name needs 150 mm or more. We often tape a paper print to the glass and view it from the far side of the road; owners are nearly always surprised how small 50 mm looks from there.

Pick a weight one step bolder than you would print

A thin weight that looks elegant on screen loses its corners during weeding and almost disappears against a busy shop interior behind the glass. One step bolder survives cutting, reads from further away and lasts longer, because wider strokes give the adhesive more to hold. With script logos we sometimes thicken hairlines slightly, and we show you the adjusted version before anything is cut.

Decide which side of the glass it lives on

Lettering on the outside shows its truest colour, but faces sun, rain and daily cleaning. Inside, it is protected, though the glass tints the colour slightly and the letters must be cut in reverse to read correctly from the street. If the inside view matters, as in a clinic waiting room, we add a second layer or a white backing so the letters look finished from both sides instead of showing grey adhesive.

Match the film to the surface, not the price

Monomeric vinyl is fine on a flat indoor wall for a year or two. On a west-facing window or a pickup door in July it shrinks, cracks and leaves a dark adhesive line around every letter. Cast film costs more but is the right material for anything on a vehicle or in full sun for the long term. Strong reds and oranges fade first, so brand-red exterior vinyl lettering deserves the better film.

Get the Arabic right before it is cut

Arabic letters join, and a cutter will faithfully reproduce a font that joins wrongly or separates letters that should connect. Dots and small marks also need to be large enough to survive weeding. We check the Arabic with a native reader, compare the trade name with your licence, and size the dots so they stay on the glass when the application tape comes off.

Pricing

Vinyl lettering price in Dubai: what affects the cost

Cut vinyl is quoted from the artwork and the surface it goes on. Send us the wording, your logo, the area size and a photo, and we return an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

Size and number of letters

Film is cheap; weeding time is not. A few large letters take less work than many small ones, so a line of 20 mm text can cost more than a 300 mm name.

Number of colours

Each colour is cut, weeded and fitted as a separate layer that has to line up with the others, so a three-colour logo takes roughly three times the work.

Film choice

Cast, metallic, reflective and etched-effect films cost more than polymeric calendered film, and some are slower to cut and weed.

Surface and access

Clean flat glass at ground level is quick. Textured walls, riveted vehicle panels and high fascias all add installation time.

Removal of old lettering

Taking off a previous tenant's sun-baked vinyl and its residue is slow scraper work, especially with old calendered film that breaks into flakes.

Reading from both sides

Lettering that must read correctly from inside and outside needs a reverse cut or a second layer, which adds material and fitting time.

Approvals

Vinyl lettering approvals for shopfronts and vehicles

Shopfront lettering usually has to match the trade name on your licence, normally in Arabic and English, and lettering on a street frontage can count as signage that needs municipality approval in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman, or free-zone approval in areas such as JAFZA or DMCC. Malls and managed buildings add their own design criteria for size, colour and position. We confirm the current requirement for your exact site before cutting.

Company names and phone numbers on vans and pickups are usually treated as vehicle advertising, and in Dubai that generally involves the RTA. The rules cover what may be shown and where, and they differ between emirates. We prepare the artwork drawings for any submission and check the current requirement for your vehicle type before the vinyl is cut.

Why Bayan Signage

Why businesses choose Bayan Signage for vinyl lettering

Cut and weeded in-house

Lettering is prepared, cut, weeded and checked in our Ajman workshop rather than bought in, so sizes and colours match the approved artwork.

The right film for the job

We specify polymeric, cast, metallic or reflective film by surface and sun exposure, and tell you plainly where a cheaper film would fail.

Arabic checked before cutting

Every Arabic line is reviewed by a native reader and compared with your trade licence, so the name on your glass is correct.

Fitted by our own crew

The team that cuts the lettering fits it, levels it and checks it from the street before the liner comes off.

Quick, itemised quotes

Film, cutting, installation and any removal of old lettering are listed separately, usually within 24 hours of receiving your wording and photos.

Part of a full signage factory

When a name needs to step up to acrylic or metal letters, the same team makes them, so your window and fascia match.

FAQ

Cut Vinyl Lettering questions we are asked most

How much does vinyl lettering cost in Dubai?

It depends on the size and number of letters, the colours, the film and the surface. A single-colour name on ground-floor glass is one of the most economical signs you can buy; multi-colour lettering across a fleet of vans costs more. Send us the wording, logo, area size and a photo for an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How long does vinyl lettering last outdoors in the UAE?

Good polymeric vinyl usually lasts three to five years on exterior glass, and cast vinyl five years or more, while indoor lettering lasts far longer. Direct western sun, scraping during cleaning and cheap monomeric film all shorten that. Strong reds and oranges fade before white, black and metallic films.

How small can cut vinyl letters be?

In a simple sans serif, cut vinyl stays clean down to about 10 mm cap height with strokes of at least 1.5 mm. Below that the blade drags and weeding tears the corners. For anything smaller, such as long terms and conditions, a printed sticker is the better option.

Can vinyl lettering be removed without damaging the glass?

Yes. On glass we soften the vinyl with gentle heat, peel it at a low angle and remove the adhesive with a scraper and cleaner, leaving the glass clean. On painted walls removal can lift weak paint, so we test first. Film that has baked in the sun for years simply takes longer.

Is vinyl lettering or a printed sticker better for my window?

Cut vinyl suits text and logos in one or two flat colours and looks painted on, with clear glass between the letters. A printed sticker suits photographs, gradients and many colours, but has a visible background or outline. For a trade name and phone number, cut vinyl is usually sharper and lasts longer.

Can you cut vinyl lettering in Arabic?

Yes. Most of our shopfront lettering is bilingual. We set the Arabic as its own design, check that letters join correctly and that dots are large enough to survive weeding, and have a native reader confirm the wording against your trade licence before cutting.

How long does it take to make and fit vinyl lettering?

It depends on the amount of lettering, the number of colours and your site access. Simple window lettering is one of the quickest jobs we do, while larger multi-colour jobs and vehicle fleets need more planning, and we give you a realistic schedule with the quote. If landlord or authority approval is needed, that time comes before fitting.

Do you apply vinyl lettering outside Dubai?

Yes. We cut in Ajman and fit across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi and the other emirates. The site survey is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and fleet vehicles can be lettered at your depot by arrangement.
