Outdoor Digital Signage in Dubai, Sharjah & the UAE

Bayan Signage builds outdoor digital signage around screens that survive a UAE summer. The LED cabinets and LCD panels come from established display manufacturers; the galvanised steel pylon, totem or facade frame, the cladding, the power and the installation are ours, fabricated in our Ajman factory and fitted by the crews who welded them.

Outdoor Digital Screens in the UAE

Outdoor digital screens that stay readable in the sun

Outdoor digital signage covers two families of screen. Outdoor LED, built from weatherproof cabinets at pitches from about P3 to P10, carries facades, billboards, sports boards and pylon screens at any size. Outdoor LCD, usually 43 to 86 inches, sits inside sealed totems, wall housings or drive-through enclosures behind a protective, anti-glare front. Petrol stations, retail parks, malls, hotels, car dealers and sports grounds use them to change prices, offers and events without printing a single panel.

In the UAE, outdoor screens rarely fail because of the display itself. They fail because the cabinet traps heat, open fans pull in dust, the face points west into afternoon sun, the structure was never designed for the screen's weight and wind load, or nobody planned how to service it. We start from the sun path, the structure and the cooling, specify brightness of around 5,000 nits or more for sunlit LED, and build service access into the first drawing.

Bayan Signage is the production arm of Bayan Advertising, a UAE group with 15 years in the market, and has fabricated signage at its own factory in Alam Square, Industrial Area 2, Ajman, since 2016. Our welders build the galvanised steel frames for pylons, totems and wall structures, our draftsmen prepare structural plans and authority submissions, our electricians handle power, surge protection and earthing, and our high-access crews install. Over 500 clients across the UAE have worked with us.

Our process

How we deliver outdoor digital signage from our Ajman factory

  1. Site survey and sun path

We survey the site, note the viewing distances and traffic speed, check orientation against the afternoon sun, locate power and data, and photograph the approach.

  2. Screen choice and structural design

We recommend LED or LCD, the pitch and the brightness, and our draftsmen produce the structural plans, foundation details and the full authority submission package.

  3. Steel fabrication and cladding

Galvanised steel frames are welded in our factory, then clad in ACP or aluminium and powder-coated, with service doors and ventilation built in.

  4. Screen integration and test

Screens, cooling, media player, surge protection and power are fitted and run at full brightness in our factory before the unit leaves for site.

  5. Foundations and installation

Our crews set the foundations or facade fixings, lift the structure into place with the right equipment, connect power and earthing, and seal every entry.

  6. Commissioning and handover

We set the night dimming, connect the content system, load your first content and agree a cleaning and service plan for filters, fans and seals.

Expert advice

Advice from our structural and electrical team

An outdoor screen is a structure and an electrical installation before it is a display. These are the points we settle first.

Size the screen for speed and distance

Pedestrians at 5 to 15 m need P3 to P5 LED or an LCD totem. Drivers at 30 to 100 m are fine with P8 to P10, but the screen must be large: a working rule is about 1 m of screen height for every 30 to 50 m of viewing distance. Drivers glance for a second or two, so content has to work with very few words, and a small screen on a highway is money spent on nothing.

Check the sun before fixing the orientation

A west-facing screen takes the afternoon sun straight on its face, which raises internal temperatures and cuts contrast. It needs more brightness and more cooling than a north-facing one. A canopy, a setback or turning the structure a few degrees can make a large difference, and it costs nothing at the drawing stage.

Choose sealed cooling on dusty sites

Open fan cooling pulls dust and sand through the electronics and clogs filters within weeks in some areas. Closed-loop heat exchangers or air-conditioned cabinets keep outside air away from the electronics. They cost more on day one and far less over the screen's life.

Plan the power and the dimming

Outdoor LED typically averages 250 to 400 W per square metre and more at peak, so it needs a dedicated, protected supply with surge protection and proper earthing. Specify a light sensor that dims the screen to a few hundred nits after dark; full daytime brightness at night glares at drivers and neighbours and is a common reason for complaints.

Agree a maintenance plan before launch

Filters, fans, supplies and seals need regular attention, with extra cleaning of intakes in dusty months. Without a plan, the screen that impressed at launch becomes a dark rectangle on the facade within a few summers. We agree the service schedule and access with you at handover.

Pricing

Outdoor digital signage price in the UAE: what affects the cost

We quote every project from the site, the screen and the structure. Send us the location, the approximate size, how far away people will view it and a few photos, and you will usually receive an itemised quote within 24 hours.

Size and pitch

Outdoor LED cost scales with area and pixel density; a finer pitch for closer viewing multiplies the pixel count and the cost per square metre.

Brightness and panel grade

Higher brightness, high clearing-point LCD panels and better LEDs cost more, but they keep the screen readable and working through summer.

Cooling and housing

Air-conditioned and heat-exchanger housings cost more than fan cooling but survive dust far better; vandal-resistant glass adds further cost.

Structure and foundations

Pylons, facade frames and rooftop structures need structural design, steelwork, foundations and sometimes cranes, often a large share of the total.

Permits

Advertising and structural approvals take drawings, submissions and time, especially for road-facing sites and screens showing advertising.

Power and connectivity

New power connections, cable runs, surge protection and 4G or fibre for content updates are itemised separately on the quote.

Approvals

Outdoor digital signage permits in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi

Outdoor screens usually need approval before installation, and screens showing advertising or facing roads are reviewed more closely. In Dubai that typically means Dubai Municipality, with RTA involvement for many road-facing sites; Sharjah and Ajman go through their municipalities, and free zones and master developers apply their own rules on brightness, content changes and location.

Pylons and large frames often need structural approval as well. Our technical draftsmen prepare the structural plans, elevations, specifications and submission packages, and follow the application through with you. Requirements change and differ from one site to the next, so we confirm the current rules for your exact location at the survey.

FAQ

Outdoor Digital Screens questions we are asked most

How much does outdoor digital signage cost in the UAE?

It depends on the screen size and pitch, the brightness and cooling, the structure and foundations, the permits and the power and data connections. A pair of LCD totems at a hotel entrance costs far less than a double-sided LED pylon on a main road. Send us the site, the size and photos for an itemised quote, usually within 24 hours.

How bright does an outdoor screen need to be?

In direct sun, outdoor LED typically needs 5,000 to 8,000 nits and outdoor LCD around 2,500 to 4,000 nits to stay readable. Shaded positions can work with less. Just as important, the screen should dim automatically at night, often to a few hundred nits.

Do you manufacture the screens?

No. The LED cabinets and LCD panels are made by established display manufacturers. We specify and supply them, fabricate the steel structure and cladding in our Ajman factory, integrate the cooling, power and player, prepare the permits and install the finished sign.

LED or LCD for an outdoor screen?

LED suits large screens seen from a distance, such as pylons, facades and billboards, because it scales to any size and is extremely bright. LCD suits eye-level totems and drive-throughs viewed from a few metres, where its sharper picture shows. Viewing distance usually decides it.

Do outdoor digital screens need a permit in Dubai?

In most cases, yes. Outdoor screens usually need Dubai Municipality approval, with RTA involvement for many road-facing sites, and free zones and communities have their own rules. Pylons may also need structural approval. We prepare and submit the drawings and confirm the current requirement for your site.

Can you add a screen to our existing pylon?

Often, yes. We check the existing structure, foundations and power, then design a new frame or panel to take the screen and its cooling. If the original structure cannot carry the extra weight or wind load, we tell you and propose a new pylon instead.

How do outdoor screens cope with UAE heat and dust?

Through brightness, cooling and sealing chosen for the site: sealed heat exchangers or air conditioning, light-coloured housings, gasketed doors and high-temperature components. Regular cleaning of intakes and filters, especially in dusty months, keeps them running.

Do you install outdoor screens across the UAE?

Yes. Our crews install in all seven emirates from our Ajman factory, including Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The site visit is free in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and we arrange cranes and access equipment as part of the job.
